I have friends walking through my gardens and they always tell me how beautiful everything looks and I always think: “ why can’t I see what they see “, we are always more critical of our space and it needs to feel right and we will not give up until we get it just the way we feel it needs to be 😊

I love how it is turning out, a garden will always change, I know its frustrating, but it happens. And sometimes it is very hard to figure out a space, but when you do, wow! And I love your view from the bench. Move one or both of those crepe myrtles over to help block the neighbor....win win, and free. Weeds keep us grounded....lol....I am about to go be grounded.

Laura, I relate to how you've been feeling. Every time a have a visitor in my yard I have to tell them to ignore the work in progress. There are two big project "rooms" in my small yard that I have to address. The jobs will be heavy labor intensive and I'm the one who does the work. I know I'll feel better when they are completed, but until then.....😫 I love your bench view. It has the perfect amount of symmetry. The wee bunny and watering can add the offset interest that makes the view charming and whimsical. I can envision the fencing behind covered with the hydrangea. ❤ Having a whole new planting bed is so exciting, too. Well done!!!

You have such a beautiful garden. And you are right: Don´t act untill you have a plan. I started my garden about 6 years ago and I regret some things. But it is so much work to change them and I fear some plants will die if I do it. But I´m not happy with the way it feels (and also functions) so I have to do something about it. ...nohhh 😲 to taking out the crape myrtles (based on my previous comment yesterday or so)...I get it, tho'. Oh, if they could stay the same size. They look so nice centered on those fence panels. Keep the arbor. It creates an entrance into another garden room. You created a pretty curve on the patio bed too (that bed looks awesome!) I'm excited for your new growing space (new plants to be had! 🤗🙌.) You sound like me; I like symmetry too, and NOTHING out of place. Just keep your newly refreshed area tidy while its in progress-- wrangle your tools all together, etc -- and pick up the next time where you had to quit for the day. I do like instant gratification, but many-a-time I've mumbled to myself "Rome wasn't built in a day." (Note to self) just enjoy the journey. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Have a lovely weekend too. Hugs, 👩🏼‍🌾💚 =^..^=

I struggle making decisions sometimes too. We've been doing a lot in our backyard over the last few years...removed an unused gravel driveway that was a weed haven and changed it into my cottage garden area. Fencing it in to keep the bunnies out was next, deciding on bed shape, moving plants around, adding plants to it, figuring out plant placement due to having to take down a couple trees...to say the least, a little overwhelming. That area is still in progress but I've been really pleased with the growth of the plants this year. And it was hard for me to decide on a color theme, but this year I realized that one of my favorite things is to take pictures of sunsets...so I connected that to all the flower colors I love. I have a sunset garden of pinks, purples, apricots, soft yellow, and I love it.😊 This year we removed an old concrete drive and patio and added hardscape along with a new area where I plan to add some high raised beds next year. Still lots to do, but we've been here over 18 years and it's finally getting to a point where I'm really happy with the look. I know this was long, but I wanted to share because I feel like we've had very similar journeys. Everything in your yard is looking beautiful, and I think one of the best things you did was add the curved bed by your patio. Happy Gardening!

Laura, I had to laugh when you were talking about your small, tight garage. Years ago my grandmother and I were standing in her backyard garden. My grandfather came home from work and drove up to their small, tight garage. He was looking at us and drove into the garage and through the back wall of the garage. You can imagine the look on my grandmother's face! I love the changes you have made along the driveway garden. It looks so lovely. Your garden gets better and better!

Thank you! I really do hope so, I love them. My neighbor is considering removing her large silver maple. I hope she does, even though I’m a huge tree advocate. It’s a very messy and weak branched tree. It’s lost a couple of limbs already. If she does, then this whole fence will have a nice canopy still.

Haha! Yes these are big native echinacea purpurea purple. They naturally grow tall, so this is normal for this variety. Many others are short. Most I see in stores are. I had to search for these at a local garden center.

I love what you’re doing with the driveway garden. Don’t change the door on the shed. I never would’ve known it was a garage door. It totally looks like carriage doors. Spend your money on something else.

What did you wind up doing with your other obelisk that Mark made you? He did such an awesome job. Have you considered putting a finial on top of the one in the potege for a different look?

Thank you so much. It can definitely get hard to plan things, especially when you like so many different styles. I have the other obelisk, I may put it in the side garden more towards the front of the house. I’m not sure yet. I love the flat top. I do get asked this quite a bit, so I’m starting to wonder if I’m nuts for liking it. 😆 I asked him to design it this way because it is different, and I saw a photo of one just like it with sweet peas growing through it and I loved it. The one he made that’s taller by the corner of the greenhouse has a ball finial on top. Just a little stylistic variation. Thank you so much for watching. 😃💜
