Would love to see some on course play with Garmin R10 and TGC. So far the Garmin seems like the best budget launch monitor (for indoor play/semi-accurate distance) and TGC has the best budget price for realistic look.
I really like the game and course play options offered by TGC 2019. One option I would like to see offered is to pick a certain hole on a course and go there without having to concede your way to that place like Pebble Beach #7.
Yeah generally people will just create that single hole like TPC 17 has one. So it's a one hole course. Not sure if there is a Pebble 7 single hole yet.
R10 getting better and better. Really is a solid unit for the price. Works well enough for me with e6, but I bought that before gspro and tgc were announced. Will have to think about what to go with next. Would love to see 9 holes on tgc and r10 thanks!
Just thought I'd note: According to Garmin, the R10 _can_ measure the spin directly, but only under certain conditions (outside when it gets to see more of the flight, and going fast enough). The exact descriptions: Ball Spin is calculated differently depending if you are outdoors or indoors. Indoors -Calculated using a machine-learned model that uses measured radar metrics as inputs. Outdoors Calculated by one of the following: -Observed ball trajectory by the radar -Measured by the radar -Spin is not measured when the ball is seen for less than 20m (i.e. only outdoors at the range). -Spin is not measured for balls going slower than 90 mph. -Spin measurement is designed to work with standard golf balls, however, some balls will work better than others due to their profile and composition. -If spin measurement is not possible the system falls back to the alternative calculation method. -Intentionally marked balls (e.g. metallic stickers) may degrade system performance. -Wind may affect the spin measurement accuracy (particularly head or tail wind).
I talk about all of these points in various videos. This still does not count for Spin AXIS, not spin. Spin Axis is drastically affected by Gear effect when someone miss hits towards the toe or heel. R10 has no way of knowing the impact location and does not measure spin axis so the gear effect is not accounted for and will not be able to adjust the curve accordingly.
Maybe later compare TCG to GS Pro on R10. It would be nice if Garmin would put out a version for PCs where we wouldn't have to work it through a phone.
Wow, that's an impressive demonstration with the R10. Always loved TGC as well, just not sure I would choose it over GSPro right now. I assume if R10 can do this well with chips on TGC it could handle them with GSPro as well. Thanks for the great demonstration Jay. What I would love to see with R10 is some more demonstration on iron shot shapes, not just directional, but trajectory. Can it handle reading punch shots with hook or cut?
Sorry it’s off topic but you asked for questions 😊…as a lefty with righty friends who like to play…..I’m wondering if you can check on the launch pro 1. How to get proper alignment setup when you will be flipping the machine back and forth for play (lefty/righty) also 2. more importantly. Can the lefty play an entire hole (skip golfer?) and then move the machine so the righties can play. It would save a ton of time and less movement of the launch monitor. Only have to flip it 18 times compared to 75+ times.
That is a weakness of any side launch monitor. Most will just put a little L of tape down on each side for easy swapping knowing the tape is aligned. Yes a player can play a hole then the other can by skipping turns. Little Cumbersome but it can be done.
Jay, thanks for continuing to keep us updated. I have a Mevo+ and just received my R10. Can you purchase TGC 2019 as a PC version that works for both devices?
Thanks. No, the licenses are per device. This is actually the same for all software I'm aware of other than the same brand launch monitor i.e mevo+/X3 can use one license. Appreciate you watching
Great video, I’ve been using r10 for a couple of months just off of my phone. Have had some friends interested in starting a winter group to play simulated games. I have my set up in my office warehouse. Do you run your projector off of your phone, or off of the PC when using the TGC app?
It can read backspin, not spin axis. BIG BIG difference. Actually goes the same for even Trackman which even with RCT still has to rely on impact location with a camera and a calculation for proper spin axis. Spin axis affects curve of the ball and plays a major effect on gear affect so you could see a push and it actually has draw from a toe strike etc.
I’ve downloaded the most current tgc2019 and followed all the steps to connect my r10 but my unit doesn’t seem to be registering any shot data? Do I need to download a tgc platform specifically designed for garmin?
Software will always be personal preference. TGC 2019 is getting a little old now but I know users buying to this day that are very happy with it. Many prefer GSPRO just since it is newer and is getting updates often.
@@GolfSimulatorVideos Flightscope has that same issue withe the Mevo+ across all the other softwares as well and said they're fixing it...just something to follow up on if you hear from Garmin/ProTee
I have had indoor problems with the distance. Garmin R10 was always 10-20m too short. I tested Awesome Golf and Garmin Golf. I was able to fix the problem by setting the weather settings altitude to 2500m. I found the fix in a forum. Apparently, several people have the problem. Does TGC2019 also have these settings? thank you!
I’m sure you’ve gotten this question before but what do you think is the best sim software to use with the R10? I’ve tried E6 and Awesome golf via their trials. It looks like Awesome Golf has nothing more to add if you buy the subscription which sucks since it only has four 9 hole courses but I love the interface so much and the range data
Hey, nice video. I am a lefty, just wondering if TCG images where it provides club information will match a lefty? I am asking because on the native Garmin app on the range it only has the image for righty’s. Thanks!
I am really thinking about getting TGC 19 simulator. The only thing that is questionable is spending this money and a new version coming out soon. Is this being talked about since this is from 2019?
R10 does an ok job overall for its price. There is no putting and gear effect can be missed on some shots since it calculates a lot and doesn’t know impact and can’t measure spin axis.
Thank you for your great videos. I have a question and wonder if you could help. I am thinking to buy the R10 but the size in my ion is fairly limited 430 cms in length. I wonder if anyone has tried using the unit with shirted distance to net than recommended and the results. Moreover , I could get the needed distance by placing the unit under the door frame but wonder if the wall/door frame would interfere with the measurements. Thanks for any reply
I see they have TGC 2019 for iOS through Garmin app now. Do you know the cost for that? Having trouble finding information around it. Additionally have you had any experience or demo'd iOS version? If so, thoughts?
With this setup for the R10 and TGC 2019, do you have to have a gaming pc as well to bring it all together or will it work on just iOS I pad or I phone?
Jay, great video. I have an Garmin R10 and just got the E6 Basic Sup package for PC windows 10. I find the the E6 software seems to crash at random a fair bit. The E6 -VS- The Golf Club 2019... I like to know what one you think works better with the R10 on a PC. trying to see if maybe the The Golf Club 2019 is more stable?
@@shaneluciow1790 that's on the lower end but should run it in 1080p ok, but not guaranteed as E6 says 1070 or above. You sure can. It doesn’t matter which launch monitor you are using. But, you have to agree to use gimmie distance when “on green” since you can’t putt and they can.
I cannot understand the R10, my swing speed is 90mph with an 8 iron but I only get max 70mph with my R10. This results in the ball going barely 100 yards for me and the I see your swing speed at 71mph and the ball going 150yards. I only have 7-8 feet to my net so it must be 10ft minimum.
I preferred the TGC 2019 simulator and decided to get SkyTrak because it was supported by their LM. I really wanted the Garmin R10, but at the time, it didn't support TGC 2019, so I got SkyTrak instead
