Gary Clark Jr. has a very emotional and relaxed style.
I chose 4 elements from his solo on "Bright Lights" and I incorporated them into an improvised solo of my own. For this I am using an Octavio pedal by Dunlop. Any fuzz pedal that you might have on hand would do the job!
Thanks for watching!
Tim

Wish people could hear Gary's very tasty blues playing he did on an out of print, super-rare recording called "Tribute" he did back in 2005. It's live in studio. I have a copy and am thinking about uploading it to RU-vid.

Don't really want to go off topic here but, I just watched The Big Interview with Dan Rather Steve Perry episode and they showed some of the video from Steve's song No Erasin', and guess who's playing guitar in it...our boy Tim Piece. If you (Tim) haven't done a video talking about working with Steve hopefully you'll do one! Dan Rather should do an a Big Interview staring Tim Piece!!

gc jr has melodic phrasing that separate him from tons of great guitarist out there. like hendrix, he plays fresh rhythms and less notes but lots of story to it.

Gotta admit, I like the song...Gary Clark Jr., meh. So much of the media jumping on the "new Jimi Hendrix" and "blues savior" bandwagon when he first appeared on the scene didn't help my opinion, either. Any adequate guitar player with all that distortion could get the same sounds. He's alright, but he's got a lot more attention than say, Quinn Sullivan who is a much better player. IMHO
@CentaurusRelax314
@CentaurusRelax314 5 лет назад
Not sure why what the media says should influence your appreciation for something. And the point isn't that 'anyone can get the same sounds' or if GCJr 'is the best player.' Anyone can, and he's not. The writing and performances are the point. I can barely stand to watch Joe Bonamassa for a full minute, and he's technically phenomenal, and i'd rather watch an hour of Gary's 'lesser technique,' because it has the feels and expression, and the writing. Watch him play Hear My Train live. *That's* the point.

My acoustic guitar of 9 years just died.. A few weeks back i noticed a gap between the saddle and the body,, witch got bigger everytime i checked.. sound was gradually getting worse, and now it has happened.. It was a Låg Tramontane T200D, so,, not the most expensive or best sounding... But I ducking loved that thing! and now its gone.. And theres no effing way I can afford a new one for a very long time :( fml! RIP old friend, Ill never get to meet the likes of you again
