It's ignored by mainstream media but Blues had quite a comeback the last decade, check out artists like Joe Bonamassa,Jonny Lang,Philip Sayce,Lance Lopez,Simon McBride,Ana Popovic,Joanne Shaw Taylor,Tedeshi/Trucks Band,Beth Hart,Henrik Freischlader lots of great stuff out there.
He's one of a very selected few artists that I rather find good quality live recordings over any album tunes. So much heart put into his playing and it really shows when watching it live.
I think it is, too, altho it’s possible to get mighty close to this in standard tuning if you are careful to only hit the D, G and B strings. I’ve got a guitar I leave in Open G, and I’ve been working on this song with it as well as my standard tuned setup and I’m more and more convinced that it’s better/easier to do in Open G tuning.
At the first guitar riff, I just sat back and let Mr. Gary Clark Jr. take me on a musical journey through bluesdom. Oh what an extraordinary adventure those five minutes were. Thanks again Jam In The Van, for you have done it yet again :)
Amazing! I had not heard the Jam in the Van. Great sound. I saw him at Coachella before the album came out. Perfection. The return of the real blues. An Austin kid who cut his teeth in the haunts of Stevie and the greats. Someone actually said he sounds white! Buy an iPod dude, you have no sense of history. Hilarious!!
Stefan Tudor Ghiuta Well African Americans are behind MOST popular music. Jazz, R&B, Soul, Blues, House. It was all considered "black music" at one point. And it all has evolved into what we listen to today.
@@TheseOpenRoadsACTUALLY 🤓☝️ all of the music that you mentioned was when African roots rhythm drum music FUSED together with white folk music in America. The black community took the guitar and added proper rhythm to it and music changed forever. Slavery was awful, but something beautiful and timeless has come from that hardship.
Yeah but a guy like EC or Peter Green I would prefer with a band, but it feels like his band tends to take away some of the soul that he's got in him.. That's all I'm sayin
+Jonathan Jensen yea I hear you there that's exactly what I feel to with many players. I hear them alone and with a band and a good lot of the time alone sounds better
