Launching new products is hard. The Gawds Tim Franken is a great skate, but the liner they chose doesn't fit right for most people. So I swapped in my old MyFit Fatboy liners to see if they were any better.

I read somewhere that gawds used the wrong frame bolt in holder thing is what you’re feeling at the bottom of your foot. It doesn’t fit right so it sits too high instead of flat so you feel it.

I love the Fatboy liner. I bought a set to go in my Salomon skates but ended up using them in my Chris Farmer Sway boots. I know that's how the Montre's came and it worked so much better for me. The Crown have found a new home in the Salomon boots and it works better than it did in the Sway for me. Fatboy's remind me of the old JUG liners from back in the 2000s which were popular with my friends at the time. I was riding Xsjado so never really got to give them a try.

For the KG (any topside), keep your secondary hip and head position vertically above the ledge. Everything else will work out.
@BacktoBlading
@BacktoBlading 2 года назад
Secondary meaning my front foot in this case?
@shawncarter253
@shawncarter253 2 года назад
@@BacktoBlading yes. For ledges all topsides will be secondary hip and head position over the ledge. Soul tricks will be the primary hip and head position (to avoid the slip out problem). It's the fundamental problem with balancing on ledges. Rails are perfect for balance and are based off of your centerline and head position for soul/topside tricks. Royales and groove tricks are different because you're side on to the object. This is where your shoulder line is directly over the ledge instead.
@almostremembered
@almostremembered 2 года назад
@@shawncarter253 Can you explain this like I'm 5? Idk what vertically over the ledge means to be honest. In terms of the top soul vs kg. Thanks a ton!
@shawncarter253
@shawncarter253 2 года назад
@@almostremembered vertically meaning if you draw a straight line, going straight up your head being directly over the ledge. Your centerline will always be the key for soul/topside tricks on rails. For soul and topsides: Head position to the left = you'll exit the trick on the left. Head position to the right = you'll exit the trick on the right. Head position center = balance. This principal changes on alley-oop tricks if your spine is twisted in order to see where you're going. Being side-on everything for balance changes from head position to now the line from shoulder to shoulder (shoulder line). Straight ledges: All topsides - you can draw a line from the ledge straight up and it will draw directly to the secondary hip. All souls - you can draw a line from the ledge straight up and it will directly draw to the primary hip. **Watch any video and you'll see the same. If balance is needed it's easier to see.** Groove tricks follow the shoulderline and regular frontsides/backsides are both shoulder line and head position. I hope this helps.

When you said 48, in my head I was like "omg that's boiling hot even hotter than here?!" (we're currentlyat 30degC) Then I realised "oh, fahrenheit, right.lol. Anyway I enjoyed your insight on the TF1 skate. Currently own a USD 7 olive that I bought 4 years ago and it's still far away from retiring. had it placed a shock absorber to a raised heel, flat bottoms not my thing. Watching all the way from Davao city, Philippines. Keep up!

I can tell when people skate with more or less heel lift by the way they do tricks. I’ve always thought you skated your setups relatively flat and could benefit from some heel lift and you confirmed that towards the end of the video. Getting “boot down” is a lot easier if you have your foot in the optimal place for flex in the boot. Removing stock heel pads and not replacing them with something comparable usually results in having your foot sitting below the ideal flex point of a skate. On Carbon (2s) for instance the stock heel pad puts the foot at the ideal flex spot but also results in the side of the skate digging into the side of my leg so I rode them without the heel pad but that basically made them have 0 flex and was harder on my knees. You’ll have an easier time with royales and topsides in general if you add a little heel lift(and maybe even an insole or two under the liner) it just takes some getting used to at first. Oh yeah and hot showers are great but cold showers help with healing and inflammation, turn the shower as cold as it can go for at least the last 30 seconds, It does the body good!

Do you use multiple cameras when filming or one? Would seem hard to edit everything coming from 1 camera, especially when doing the warm up portion, would seem line a stop and go process if only 1 camera for everything.

Fatboys and I would say all Myfit liners are lackluster, the only probable exception is the Crown. The Fatboy is well padded but the foam is so horribly soft and it softens up even more when you use them and then you lose support and feel the shell pressing your feet. At least that's my experience, I would fork out several times more money for an aftermarket liner like a Reign or Intuition or even many older USD liners like the Phoenix liners are way superior to most Myfit products (except the Crown liner)

@@BacktoBlading where from? In Europe, they're either out of stock or only available in tiny sizes like 5-6. I've bought the Gawds TF recently, just 3 sessions in them. I must say I agree about the liner. Overall I don't have the same responsiveness and feel as in my Triggers. Same price point, yet Triggers are way better, hands down. I wanted to get a hard boot at a reasonable price (now all new skates are about 40% more expensive than before C).

@@jeremy9203 Crowns were available in Europe about 1-2 months ago but sold out in a few weeks. I had one pair to try and for the skates I own, it didn't work so I didn't keep it, but it felt the most premium liner in myfit product line . I returned it because the padding around the Achilles is so beefy that I lost a whole size and my toes were pressing against the boot and I wear my boots roomy. (I kind of expect a new liner to fit me relatively well without putting it into an oven first). Since then I gave Reign Slims a chance and it's the best liner I ever owner, even better than V3 HT and this week I am getting intuition v2 to compare it to.
@jeremy9203
@jeremy9203 2 года назад
@@RolandAshcroft thanks for your comprehensive reply! Please let me know how the Intuition compare vs the Crown. Intuition are much more expensive though, but if they're noticeably better, they might be worth it.

I love new skates, but the new boots all seem to have the same problems. Bought a pair of genesis last year, and ended up switching everything below the boot onto an old pair of trs broskows. The new wide souls are great, but the old boots had comfort on lock in my opinion. Now it’s like a new pair of skates with that ol’ reliable boot.

TRS’s from the alpha on were sweet. Some of my favorite skates ever made. Just remembering those makes me want to try the blanks, but as of now, the pro model sways that come with crown liners are the most comfortable skates I’ve ever put in my feet.

I think you could fit into a size 9 with stock liner ...if the 44 is like an 11 then the 41-42 should be like a 10. Why won't companies just give liner size and shell size in cm. A 30.5cm shell is not a 10-10.5. 30.5 is almost a size 12. That's ridiculous
