Thank you very much for this video. I would like to ask you a question. Is the operating capacity of the amps the same if the engine is running on gasoline or is there a difference I have tested? It turns out that the engine works at half capacity if it is run on liquefied gas or is there a malfunction? I would like to try a test about the load and run it on the same generator with liquefied petroleum gas
Good video, but it's worth mentioning to be careful not to cross thread the propane/nat. Gas hookup. You can also add a quick connect that makes hookup alot easier for most. Just thought I'd mention it. Great job.
Hope You will respond (know this is an old post): I have the exact same gen as you. Mine is near new but sat too long and Ethanol smoked the carb. I have rebuilt the carb and gen is running perfectly on gasoline now. I ordered the same carb (via the link) as you and also a regulator for my propane bottle but from a generator supply place that claimed it was better than a BBQ regulator and could handle a higher flow rate. All that said, I want to know if you were able to get your gen to run as smooth off of Propane as on gasoline. Another viewer commented it was not running too smooth in the video and I agree that it wasn't as well and wanted to know how you smoothed it out if you did. I found several version of the carb I purchased (identical to yours) and they have a screw adjustment between the top of the carb mounted regulator and the carb at the base of the black propane supply hose. I was wondering if that is an improvement to help tune the carb to the engine while on propane. (??) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for the great two vids!!
@@shawnmrfixitlee6478 Really look forward to the new post. Is the adjustable regulator you mention the one on the propane bottle or on the carb? Thanks again!
Great video! So, does it means that if you run the LP gas after gasoline, will the carburetor stay clean?? I’m wondering if by running the LP gas will burn all the gasoline left in the carburetor!?! Thanks
The tri-fuel carb I bought has a drain for the gas in the float bowl. Most carbs have a drain screw at the bottom of the float bowl. Either way, to drain the fuel just turn off the gas and let the generator burn it off.
I have a Generac gp6500e electric start, I have a propane carb where do the 2 solenoid wires connect. The generator carb did not have a fuel solenoid shut off so no wires to hook them to. Do I even need them?
I have an 8750 Watt 7000 run I believe Harbor Freight predator generator. Supposedly that engine is 13 horsepower. But the wattage of this carburetor if I remember right is rated for 5000 Watts. I wonder if this carburetor will work for me? Also maybe you know if that predator generator is brushed or brushless? You sound like you know more about these than I do... Thanks
I think it is 420cc www.harborfreight.com/8750-Max-Starting7000-Running-Watts-13-HP-420cc-Generator-EPA-III-with-GFCI-Outlet-Protection-63085.html?ccdenc=eyJjb2RlIjoiNTA0MTIzODUiLCJza3UiOiI2MzA4NSIsImlzIjoiNTM5Ljk5IiwicHJvZHVjdF9p%0D%0AZCI6IjExODEzIn0%3D%0D%0A
Hello, I recently converted a small Predator 422cc engine used to power a generator from gasoline to tri-fuel (NG/Propane/Gasoline). I am concerned about valve issues, in that from what I understand, valves for a gasoline fueled engine are not as durable as those for natural gas and propane powered engines. Apparently this can cause heat and lubrication issues with converted engines, as well as "valve recession". As you are small engine specialist, I would appreciate any guidance you may be able to give on this issue. If possible, would like to know of any experience you may have had with converted engines, and how much and to what degree the conversion affected their over all life. Also, I would like to research compatible hardened valves and or heads for this engine, for which I hear may be a "clone" of a Honda model. I thank you in advance and would appreciate any input.
@@shawnmrfixitlee6478 thanks. If you could, was your engine converted from gasoline to natural gas? How long have you been running it and have you ran it for a longer time, or just in short burst. Also, are you saying that LPG has more oil in it than gasoline. Thanks again.
When the engine is cut off does the propane keep going into the carburetor or is there some kind of valve that only lets gas come out when engine is running?
not sure . But if it is like this one it is just a solenoid to cut off the fuel to the main jet when you shut off the engine . They plug in where the old carb did . Thanks !
this one will fit but you will have to mod your air cleaner a bit . They don't make one for the vacuum chock setup like you have . thanks !! www.ebay.com/itm/New-Carburetor-Dual-Fuel-Propane-Gasoline-Fit-Honda-GX340-GX390-GX420-188F-190F/312899541355?epid=1001040860&hash=item48da44196b:g:iw4AAOSwqQpd11qi
