Another character that feels complete despite not being "top tier" is Yanfei. Sure, she could have a few tweaks in her design to make her more convenient to use (for example the Scarlet Seals and Brilliance staying active even if she leaves the field) but otherwise, the only thing she lacks is raw power.
Qiqi could definitely use some personal particle generation. Her skill CD is long enough, so I see no harm in letting her generate energy for every time it's casted.
maybe one of her passives could be generating a certain amount of energy every time her e hits an enemy? although that might be too broken considering her skill duration
@@xyippee Maybe I just didn´t get the joke if this was supposed to be one, but isn´t that already kinda the case with her C1? I mean the amount is miniscule, but maybe a buff to that one then? One thing I personally would like to see is a bit of an increase to her E´s range as in maybe a larger and wider orbit around the characters, because currently the only way to actually utilize her being cryo is by either hugging the enemy or with her burst for a one time use.
She could be fixed by furthering her support capabilities as a constant Cryo applier. Wouldn't even need to damage but for a skill with a ridiculous cooldown, constant proximity cryo application would enable freeze comps for Hydro DPS, easy superconduct reactions and would make her BIS support for pyro melt
How about something wacky and have her burst not require energy. I mean the character is already dead so maybe that means she doesn’t use energy like other characters and to compensate she then has no energy generation so she becomes pure healing
Qiqi feels like she was built around being a dedicated multiplayer healer where she can keep the uptime of her talisman more consistent, deal good amounts of damage since her healing scales with atk and that her C6 is useless in single player but can be an absolute lifesaver in multiplayer. It’s just and absolute shame Genshin has no good multiplayer content for these types of characters to shine. She’s essentially just a dead character in the current state of the game now
It's even more of a shame when Kokomi outdoes everything that Qiqi has to offer even in multiplayer. Guess the fate of the standard banner characters is inevitable.
This has been my thought since release day. When Genshin was new, nobody knew how much multiplayer would be part of the game, so Qiqi seemed like a possible option back then. Now it's shown, we don't have enough content to justify her existence, and probably never will.
I feel like ideally, hoyo would slow down the rate that they release new 5 star units, giving themselves more time to test and perfect them. But sadly I don’t think they will, because that would definitely lose them money. But between the many bugs in the game, really slow patches, and now possible 2.7 delay, it really seems like hoyo is struggling right now.
With the situation in Shanghai I can’t even blame them if they need to delay 2.7 (or at least 2.8 if they already have everything to go for 2.7 instead) but I hope they are doing well over there. Seems pretty bad.
i hard they may extend 2.6 and only have yelan’s banner for 2.7 in order to keep the 2-month cycle in check. The person who leaked this, who is questionable, says that the 2.7 rerun banners (itto and xiao) may appear in 2.6. Also, another leaker says that xiao plays a tole in the 2.7 story, which makes this a little easier to believe.
I'm worried that if they slow down. Character releases even more, It'll result in either lower primogem income, or more chars with most of their strength locked behind constellations. The less people want to spend primos, the more they can save, and it'll mean that light spenders and older players are basically guaranteed every new 5-star at C0.
I think rosaria is the best example of a balanced character cuz she's a sub dps (and can be a main dps) who can generate energy for herself fine. she doesn't work in every team and I actually think she doesn't see that much usage in abyss, but you can slot her into a Eula team or reverse melt and she'll work great. she also has a niche (boosting crit rate) that is yet to be filled by other characters, so she's not competing with anyone like how Yanfei is competing with every other pyro dps.
Geo Traveler can also increase crit rate, but yes, that's not a whole lot of competition. That Rosaria can provide up to 15% extra crit rate is insane and probably only overlooked this much because cryo resonance and the Blizzard Strayer set provide between 35~55% crit rate depending on whether the enemy is immune to the frozen status. The only real counter hoyo has against that is dropping more Thunder Manifestations into Spiral Abyss, since it's constantly infused with Electro, so Cryo application won't stick and players aren't getting juicy Melt damage all the time. Anyway, the "problem" is that Freeze teams have so much crit rate easily available that Rosaria's buff is overkill. Limiting your desired artifact stats down to three (crit damage, ATK%, ER) means it'll take even longer to complete a set as any more than 25% crit rate from artifacts (or weapons) would be wasted. Let's say a player has achieved such a setup. Now their "Freeze dps" (Could be Cryo or Hydro after all) is only useful in a Freeze team and completely inflexible otherwise. You use them twice a month for Spiral Abyss and then they sit on the bench because the overworld, events and even domains feature a variety of enemies which are hard to deal with if you're limiting yourself to those three elements (Hydro, Cryo, Anemo) After slowly whittling down the umpteenth Cryo mage shield and Ice slime shield, I can tell you it's not fun. When I'm exploring I don't want to constantly switch teams based on enemy composition.
@@johnd7760 I'm definitely not saying she's bad. I use her in Spiral Abyss as well. I'm just saying that the extra crit rate is overkill in freeze comps. It's very useful in melt comps and superconduct comps, though.
The most annoying part about incomplete characters is that they could have been fixed without making them OP or even top tier, it will just make them more usable Making Xinyan scale 100% of defense won't suddenly make her top tier, people that like her will just have less reason to not use her
Personally, I don't even mind her split scaling as much as I do her lack of pyro application. I really want her E to be able to do the same pyro DoT her burst does. Like give me a hold E to trigger that. Yeah, her split scaling would still be an issue, but I do think that has a bit of a caveat. There are several characters that are well regarded that come alive with their C6. Specifically, Fischl and Noelle, and with a lesser degree of C6 dependence, Ningguang. And Xinyan has that potential as well. But the game lacks a good charged attack friendly artifact set/weapon. That is something that it will gain eventually, probably when some very charged attack focused melee five-star is released. And when that happens, C6 Xinyan has the potential to become much better. That said, having her gain some bonus attack on her normal attacks from defense would be nice. Doesn't have to be crazy, but rather something along the lines of Yae's "elemental mastery helps elemental skill damage"... a nice perk, but not a "stack this stat" situation like Kokomi or Hu Tao with hp.
Increasing Xinyan pyro application would definitely help her into a more usable support, that is another way to balance the character Personally I prefer the removal of split scaling because Noelle is a complete character, not meta but she perform really well as an onfield DPS+Tank while Xinyan even with Def build have pathetic shield making it difficult to take advantage of her buff or pyro aplication, the fact that she is a physical pyro is already a huge disadvantage cuz of difficult superconduct and the split scaling making it even harder to build her as a main carry, even when you are done building her she doesn't offer much compared to any other character that is using physical weapon and artifact slap into them for example Jean, Kaeya, Qiqi etc can probably perfom just as well DPS wise on top of having their own kits to support the team while Xinyan is super awkward to use and build Anyway I just want to point out my personal opinion and honestly she is too incomplete heck, maybe incongruent is more appropriate as she doesn't do any single thing particularly well nor does her sum of her part actually worth more than individual. This is why I always compare her to Noelle who although far from Meta is at least a complete character that work well especially after all of the indirect buff she receive from resonance, new teamate, artifact, weapon etc while Xinyan afaik haven't seen any direct or indirect buff since launch
@@Axterix13 They avoid charge atk artifact/weapon like the plague since that will make Hutao stronger than their precious chef daughter and they cant have that
i think that another 'incomplete' charcter would also be thoma, as much as I love him his scaling is atrocious and I think that's because they didn't want to have another pyro xingqui but i still think they didn't have to make him absolute dogsh*t
Thome is closer to pyro diona than pyro xinqiu. Thoma bring more utility than damage. Give him fav lance + 4pc noblese, and he is good to go. Also every cons make him better and better (arguably the most useful and balance cons for 4star unit).
no cus what was hoyoverse smoking when they decided to give ATK% as his ascension stats while also giving him a low talent scaling and a more shielder role 💀💀
i feel like thoma was designed for yoimiya originally, but they ended up changed her kit while his stayed the same. he has a good design and his attack animations look pretty cool, so it is a shame they released him with such a disappointing kit. he deserved better.
i've always been of the opinion that thoma's kit is cohesive and only his stats are bad. scaling off atk%, high energy cost, lower damage, icd... if all were adjusted to be more helpful to him he would be way better
I thought of a new potential addition I would call "friendship passives." It would be a passive ability unlocked by story quest interactions between different characters (have to play the story to unlock) that only apply when those characters are in the same party. Klee and Albedo are close. If they were in the same team, a friendship passive could be unlocked called bursting crystals that make Albedo's crystallize shields explode, doing damage of the infused element based on his EM. Albedo has an EM boost in his kit and would make EM weapons viable on a Geo character. That would make new team comps with lesser played characters viable because new team abilities could be unlocked and new parts of the kit could be mined for alternative playstyles.
Amazing idea, though I feel like some characters need to have new interactions to be built around with. For example you can't team up Eula and Amber in the same team, can you? If she somehow has interactions with Rosaria(whom Eula hasn't talked to in the story line afik) maybe, it would make sense to her kit.
@@orangemage9522 A funny one I would like to imagine is Diluc and Kaeya. I imagine its name would be Brotherly Rivalry hehe. The passive would increase the melt reaction damage with enemies afflicted with cryo when paired with kaeya. Since Kaeya's burst stays when swapping out characters, when paired with Diluc's skill and burst it can go very well.
One thing that also rubs me the wrong way about some of Genshin's incomplete character design is that they clearly put a lot of work into certain parts of some characters...that end up being completely ignored. The biggest modern culprits of this for me are Yae, Ayato, and Yoimiya. Yae and Ayato both have super cool and flavorful normal attacks and charge attacks...which you'll never see if you're playing them as intended. Yoimiya has a completely unique charge attack...despite it being arguably the biggest waste of time in her kit.
I agree. Ayato’s normal attacks (no skill) are buttery smooth and feel amazing to play, but he doesn’t use that attack cycle when you press his skill. Thoma also has a wonderful normal attack style that feels fun to play, but is very much built as an off field shielder. It’s sad.
Same goes for Yunjin, she has one of the most gorgeous NA’s I’ve ever seen and they did so much to pay homage to Chinese opera Yet her gameplay is just skill for battery, burst then swap off....
That’s why i play Ayato with normal and charged attacks only when the enemy is not OP or finish off a fught with his charged or normal attack sequence, it feels so cool🥲 it’s such a shame… especially his charged attack is chef’s kiss
I quite agree with the part about Yoimiya. I think that they should’ve allowed Yoimiya to be able to use her special charged attack during her elemental skill, or instead make the special charged attack part of her elemental skill. Or maybe they could have made her elemental skill similar to Ganyu’s which can taunt enemies so that her charged attack would be used more often.
The standard 5 star that best withstood the test of time is jean Her kit being an anemo healer, having CC, good raw damage as a support, being an anemo battery and the existence of sunfire jean are all things which are less powercrept than diluc's one purpose of "do a lot of damage"
If I'm not mistaken Aloy didn't even have a story quest to introduce or tie her in the game. I think if she did, she would have had better reception and the fact that her ascension materials are locked to Inazuma and lack of constellations make her useless
Aloy is probably just a promotional unit, but they could've given her a limited time hangout while players were still able to get her, the reason why they didn't do that was probably cuz Licensing and all other permissions and agreements over a Big character like aloy might be very tedious and secondly, Genshin Lore is pretty tight, i don't think they'd want to be forced to include a foreign element into the story. but her constellations are still a glaring issue, maybe an event to obtain constellations (Stella Fortuna bottles) like how we obtain weapon refinements could've been a solution
@@siddhanthbhattacharyya4206 it would have been cool for collab characters to be woven into the story properly, we already know you can travel to teyvat from other worlds so it's totally viable. aloy felt half assed idk i wasnt impressed with her
Herizion Zero Dawn was not fully finished by the company when Alloy was released in the game. The game was already fully finished basically by the company standard, and actually could have been released only on the Playstation 4. The company even admitted it when they were interviewed way back the Playstation 4 was the only console out on the market. They specifically said that they wanted to improve the game overall in the every area of the game since they felt unsatisfied with how the game played as a whole. We also clearly saw the packages inside the Playstation 4 store before the company took them down. They even said that if you are interested in the game just pre-order the game now, you will be thankful later for it. They even said that the items acquired in the pre-ordering of the game can actually get acquired in the game somehow but it is very difficult to pull off. The same exact thing for Blue Sky Second Reflection. I know because I somehow triggered them somewhere online when I found the game by accident. The message was crystal clear what it was saying to me.
They could have done something like a small quest to get her home to her world because she accidentally got in teyvat somehow with a machine. Like traveler fell in while they were dimension hopping or something.
I get the impression that Hoyo just doesn’t listen to their beta tester’s feedback, and even when they do…the changes they make are minor and don’t address the core problem of a kit.
@@justsomeguy727 Agreed. I recently came across this vid from Game Maker's Toolkit about balancing and it provides amazing insights from the perspective of the developers. It's not like developers doesn't listen to feedbacks, it's just that it's really hard to discern which feedback is good or bad for the game or if a feedback fits the developer's vision or not. It's also hard to discern if a feedback came from the majority or a vocal minority. You can also consider the amount of workload that they're doing for the future updates, meaning that their schedule may have no more room dedicated for fixing major character issues(designing a character with the amount of quality hyv produces takes a lot more time than you think). That can explain why the fixes for characters seems so minimal What I'm saying is instead of being a part of the negative culture in this community, you can atleast try to understand the reality that happens on the other side instead of believing in your own twisted ideas. This way, you can atleast try to accept the issues in any game and it really makes the experience better.
They literally just verified Mona's base stats when we finally pulled ours of the banners. They had their ideas of what it was supposed to be, ourselves included, but we never actually obtained her prior to that point in time to verify it. We even heard the voice of the rep saying something like we finally have the confirmed stats for the record.
Also for the record, certain characters might be missing stats for other select few reasons as well. The characters you might already know what they are, if you are very picky and are very specifically detailed oriented about the characters stats.
I never really understood why the devs don't fix characters, or leave them with such gaping flaws, whether intentional or unintentional. They don't have to make another Zhongli with buffs, but Zhongli himself is a good example of a time when they actually listened and helped improve a character that was lacking in efficiency. All they have to do is provide small tweaks, such as Yae Miko's burst targeting, or Xinyan's conflicting scaling. All they're doing is hurting sales if a character turns out to be lackluster, so people don't want to pull for them, short of just liking the character themselves. It won't do very well if characters keep being undercooked, and we keep returning to the same characters, for those that are concerned about efficient play. Even if they buff a character into being broken, what does it hurt? We already have broken characters that will stay broken, and that's just greater incentive to pull for them. it's a single player game, so it's not like it would harm the meta or anything. I was actually suprised when they attempted to fix Yae Miko's skill, i just wish they did that with more characters so they can at least graduate from bottom tier to mid tier.
They chose the least problematic issue of Yae and “tried” to fix her, totally ignoring her bigger issues. Their balancing is bad because half of their staff was sent to work on their new game, Star Rail. This partly why we’ve been seeing such a major decline in character quality. Another reason is profits. If it doesn’t bring them profits, it’s not worth their time. It seems like they just half ass every character and don’t bother touching them again. Not sure if this is upper managements fault or the devs.
I agree with "They chose the least problematic issue of Yae and “tried” to fix her, totally ignoring her bigger issues." This is the most obvious supposing based on their action results. They just emailed us two times and that is it. As for the totem, the algorithm is pretty simple, and non-dynamic to calculate. What is more ridiculous is totem randomly strike, what lousy content they gave us for how many millions sale at Yae banner again? That is communist country for ya. They either don't have capability of doing complex algorithm, balancing and rigorously testing or don't want to give a F to player voice.
It's pretty funny that Zhongli is actually all 3 of these categories: 1) Incomplete and incohesive in design that made that character terrible to use. 2) Developers listening to player feedback to improve the gameplay of the character. 3) Excelling in a role because of changes made to that character. He had such an amazing character development.
I am going to say Zhongli is a perfect example of overbuffing. His very existence negated any need for heal or dodging for a very long time until the rifthounds came out. The buffing of Zhongli and geo shields literally invalidated an entire subclass of characters. It really makes sense on why MHY is unwilling to give characters large buffs after backlash ever since.
@@tonysensei668 Disagree Zhong Li only use for him generally is being a shieldbot with good uptime, with his shred of resistance isn't as good due to the existance of the VV set. Diona and Thoma can easily replace him for they have the same role as you don't need pull for him. Kazuha and Bennet is more overbuff due to how effectively potent their buffing abilities to your main dps than zhong li's shred will ever be.
There are 2 teams responsible for designing characters and I swear that all the bad characters are designed by one of those teams since I refuse to believe the people who made such well designed characters like Itto , Kazuha and Shogun also made characters like Yoi and Yae
It could be a priority thing -- Shogun gets a lot more attention from the team during development while Yae is mostly an afterthought That said I think a lot of people overstate Yae's issues. She's not bad at all (but meta-wise not great either)
@@YayaFeiLong Yeah, Yae isn't terrible. Her normal attacks suffer a bit, like Klee's, but that isn't a huge deal due to her being more of an off-field DPS. Would be nice to have fixed though, just as a QoL of life thing, plus for when you do want to use her on field. The whole lack of "super-armor" is mostly a skill issue. I don't have an issue with its lack once I figured out what patterns of movement let me place totems without getting hit. And that mostly leaves the amount of time it takes to place totems. Which is an issue.
honestly, i'm getting tired of the same skin-tight aesthetic for the women. I understand that horny sells, but personally i was so unimpressed with Yelan and Kuki. Are we really gonna have to wait for Snez for cool-looking jackets/coats for the girls?!
@@PsycheTrance65 this is exactly what I tought, I know yelan is a filler characters before sumeru release but her design is just a copy-paste here and there to the point they're not even try anymore. they just sell female characters with more skin exposed and call it a day.
As a Xinyan main, building her was a pain in the ass, to put it simply. It's a weird balance of defense and attack that is difficult to effectively tightrope across. The way the artifact substat system is set up also adds a layer of difficulty to the whole shebang, too. Hoyoverse is adding new artifacts for five stars (and typically the newest releases too) without realizing that if they added new artifacts for older characters (whether they be four star or five star) they could revitalize "useless" and "incomplete" characters.
I think the only case where a new artifact set helped an old character was Ocean Hued Clam for Qiqi (and kokomi but she wasn’t old) but like Vars said in another video, it’s like qiqi the D student going to a C student vs Kokomi who went from B tier to A tier. Considering xinyan gets little attention, I feel like she’s lower on the priority list for Hoyo which sucks bc I like her aesthetic and I feel like she has potential
Personally think her shield should do more than just apply pyro and be a shield, or maybe her burst even. Ive crowned her attack and burst and still dont feel im missing out on her shield because ive always meant for her to physical. What if her skill healed her a little?
She might have been coded around the idea of being used for shielding enemies daily commission as it was really kind of difficult to do since it was actually coded way before she was even introduced into a banner . Even if she was already fully coded into the game, she definitely did not need to be introduced into the game right away. Mihiyo might have thoguht it intially and then decided to bring the healing benefit to Bennett instead at the current time of them talking about it. Xiao's skill set comes from their own source material, and they are likely not going to change any of it around; especially considering that they clearly could have prior to us finding the website with them talking it in detail. That was at least a decade ago by the way. They definitely view the website a an essential thing to make available to the public since it actually says a tip for something else in the game that it does not appear that they even talked about. It also shows that they have been working on Noelle's descriptions for longer than it meets the eyes as well. Maybe that they is why they are charging so much for the in app purchases, even though they have the money perfectly fine to pay it off.
This is why I appreciate Ayato so much more. His damage is good enough to keep up with Childe but doesn't require as much complex building what with his immense versatility in team comps, artifacts, weapons, and playstyles. But really, all that means is that he doesn't replace Childe as The Main DPS Hydro Unit, rather, he just happens to be a hydro dps you can use as well. Both are strong and free to play friendly while also having strong constellations. It's a matter of personal preference.
But this is the whole thing. It's not about a character being complete, yall just like high numbers. If ganyu's charge attack wouldn't do high damage she would also be on this list.
@@blazn0 Not necessarily. I really love lots of less than ideal or mid tier characters, and I don’t even have a Bennett. But the one time I used a Xinqui, I quickly realized something. Xinqui put out really good application, damage, and recharge with crappy hand me down 4 star artifacts. Ganyu is so good not just because of her damage, but shes low investment, high reward. Yoimiya can do lots of damage, sure, but she takes a whole lot of investment. Ganyu also has great application of cryo and hits several enemies at once with a charged shot, unlike other bow users. Xinyan could be great if she didnt require so much investment just to stack up. Yae Miko feels incomplete not because she does bad damage, but her constellations cures part of her energy problems that really didn’t need to exist at all, and the targeting of her ability was pretty wonky. Constellations in a 5 star is high investment. I love Qiqi, she’s my second best built character, but it took much more investment than say, a Bennett. Yanfei is fun, but the investment into her is much higher than a xiangling. Most catalyst users aren’t bad because of their damage, but because they’re clunky, especially a strong unit like Klee. Kokomi is great, except how she cripples her own damage for no reason with her -crit rate passive. They don’t put out bad numbers, investing in them just takes so much more time and resources before they can really shine. Overall, I’m a firm believer in play who you want. My favorite characters are Beidou, Qiqi, Sayu, Rosaria, Yun Jin, and Ayato. Most of the videos and ratings of characters aren’t for the people who want the character to change their minds. It’s to let the people who want low investment, high reward content know what to expect before they use their wishes. Some people are, in fact, only in it for the numbers, which is a perfectly fine way to enjoy the game, especially for people without a lot of time. And if the community didn’t pay attention to what’s wrong with some characters, then Zhongli would be the way he was on release, they wouldn’t have tried to adjust Yae Miko’s targeting, they wouldn’t have changed how bow users target some bosses, etc.
This is one of my few complaints, especially when you consider elements, notably that Hydro and Anemo. Both are very needed elements for early and f2p players but only have two 4 star units each. And in the case of Anemo, only one of those 2 units is buildable for players below AR 30.
Honestly I'm just extremely disappointed by how we haven't had ANY new DPS-geared 4 star in an extremely long time since Yanfei and nobody else for awhile, especially seeing how niche 4 stars Inazuma had been who's only purposes are to serve extremely specific 5 star characters. I understand wanting to advertise the 5 stars more who are definitely supposed to be much stronger, but it's kinda ridiculous just how limited the options for early game and F2P players are for a decent DPS character depending on how kind or cruel gacha decides to be to them. My sister got into Genshin much later than I did and I've seen her genuinely struggle with the game for awhile as a newbie because gacha straight up kept giving her only support 4 stars for awhile. She did main Kaeya and Noelle for awhile who ARE both really good and carried her for awhile, but it's kind of actually ridiculous how it took so long until she finally got characters like Rosaria and Xiangling until she finally eventually got Ayato as her first 5 star awhile ago. (Luckily she already had Inazuma barely unlocked by that time, considering the problem of how hard it is to build Inazuma characters if you get them accidentally before AR 30 but thats a whole other can of worms to get into lmao.) I actually feel so bad that she never got and still doesn't have any other DPS 4 stars she could also main on the side outside of Rosaria like Yanfei, Ningguang, Razor, etc... More DPS 4 stars would be so nice for diversity and variety's sake as well and honestly I'm sure plenty of people would be willing to spend tons of primos for their cons and such. And newer players or F2P's who don't have a DPS 5 star yet for whatever reason should be allowed to at least have way more options before they ever reach pity for a 5 star or whatnot at the very least. The fact that we don't have a SINGLE Inazuma DPS 5 star unlike Mondshadt or Liyue, or at least a 4 star with way more DPS capabilities that doesn't feel as niche as the ones we have, is pretty ridiculous. The closest that comes to having most DPS capablities is probably Sayu but sucks that she's just too restricted to a support role and has other flaws from a DPS standpoint holding her back.
I actually think Kokomi not being able to crit is a pretty cool mechanic, and sets her apart from the other characters in the game. It also made building her much easier since I don't need her to purposely get her good crit artifacts. Her role is diminished as a dps is mainly just because the fact that she's a catalyst user, like bad aoe per attack and long+expensive charge attacks. Even despite all that flaws she is still a very good Jellyfish bot.
OHC set also allows her to do more damage off field, i think shes pretty good i just wish her Burst was some sort of tidal wave or something instead of buffing her NA/CA damage
I personnally don't like it because of her energy cost and skill not generating particles, in this situation you usually pick a favonius weapon to fix it but Kokomi can't crit so its useless, it definitely would have been a good weapon for her.
Tbf the thing is, if she could crit, it would barely be a damage increase (assuming the HB passive goes away), because people calculated it and its only like 3k more dps on her
@@urmadasf You just forgot that she is a healer didn't you? Some sort of tidal wave that does burst damage in exchange for the healing and buffing her AA would really hurt her healing.
@@hubutnotsotao5362 Youre kidding right lol Kokomi Burst is mainly for DAMAGE as it is. She just so happens to heal PER ATTACK which btw is not worth the field time. Her burst does not do burst healing like Jean Dandelion field. Kokomi was balanced to do both healing AND damage. Her jellyfish should be healing enough for your time. Not to mention she can scale her damage off healing, her ascension stat is Hydro Damage, and majority of her constellations are for Damage. Shes not JUST a healer. A tidal wave sure would be more fun and offer better graphics for a beautiful character like her
I feel there is an easy way to solve this, hoyo verse could just give buffs to up coming reruns to boost sales so they can be like “ hey we buffed a character, plz buy now”
I do have things to worry however, Albedo & Kokomi has low sales but on their first banner but they got their own artifact set later (and a BiS weapon for Albedo). Meanwhile Yoimiya already recieved an indirect buff through Yunjin, and technically she already have her own artifact set which is Shimenawa AND Retracing Bolide, and till this day she is still regarded as a mediocre unit. The only way to boost her sales on her rerun is to buff her kit directly, which Hoyoverse is reluctant to do.
@@xxx_lolidestroyer69_xxxuwu58 yoimiya doesn't have a single easy solution, she has many flaws in her kit (same with kokomi) that i don't think you can fix with a new set or weapon. albedo was already good, just his bis being a 3* hindered him a little which was fixed with the event sword. personally i think they need to stop "fixing" characters with new artifacts and weapons that no one else will ever use💀 imagine getting kokomi's donut without ever having kokomi, it goes to waste
(pre-premier comment) It's interesting to think about whether characters with flawed kits were intentionally made that way, maybe to challenge players or be a sort of built in limiting factor to continue incentivizing pulling for other characters, or if they're merely the product of intentions and ideas not being fully considered or properly translated into a unit that most operate amongst a variety of factors. It's also possible that future growth/change is being left on the table, or that some characters simply aren't given the same care and attention as others for some reason or another. When you look at the idea behind all genshin characters, few of them really stick out as "oh wow that was a bad idea from the drawing board" but then, several end up having those ideas fail to reach their potential or be applied in a worthwhile way. You'd think that every character would be tested extensively before release to try to minimize issues with translating idea to reality and that, if a character is worth creating in the first place it would be given its due, so it has to be intentional, right? And yet.... some things about Genshin seem to exist without adequate justification so, who's to say? Excited to see what the video is all about tomorrow
I'll say, rather than being "incomplete", Hoyoverse is rather inconsistent with their characters by making some good instead of all of them for some unknown reason. You yourself have mentioned that powercreeping in the game will be inevitable, yet there hasn't been a lot of examples of that occurring so far. Take a look at most recent characters: Their are meant to replace old supports/DPS, but their performance only make the old characters look even better. For example: Shenhe, Sara and Yun Jin all fill a similar role as Bennett, yet there is a part on their kits that cripples them, whether be that their only buff a single character like Sara, can only buff a certain number of attacks like Yun Jin and Shenhe, or only buff certain types of attack like Yun Jin being focused on normal attacks and Shenhe buffing Cryo characters the best. All these 3 make Bennett look better as he is more simple and can boost everyone with no restrictions, which only makes you wonder why trying to add more supports when they already have what's objectively the best in slot. There is no real reason whatsoever to be as restrictive as they are since there is nothing else to do aside from leveling characters, and even then it makes you wonder why even trying.
well some character require something different. an example is that bennet and Hutao are not comparable, if you want the DMG boost you need to stay under 50%, but if you are under 50% on bennet burst, you will get healed. or Itto/C6 Noelle, they want Gorou to boost their dmg becuase their dmg scale of only DEF and not ATK. if you are using a electro character as main DPS Sara might be better than bennet, expecialy if she is C6 or you have difficulties on staying inside bennet's burst. tho i do agree that some character have a lot of problem when you compare them to old 4/5 character. like c6 Fischl and Miko... or Ayato/XQ... and probably any new cryo dps compared to Ayaka and Ganyu
@@raismin739 Regarding Hu Tao and Bennett, I have seen discussions arguing about it, as well as others showcasing how, while perhaps not the most optimal, is still a fair and viable option. Of course there are others like Mona or Xiangling that pair better, however they have been in the game since release. I do thank you for mentioning Gorou as I didn't really consider him, and after seeing his kit, he's by far the best *Geo* Support character who makes Mono Geo teams viable, even at C0. What is baffling about Gorou is that he came after Sara but before Shenhe & Yun Jin, which again, shows how unpredictable Hoyoverse is with their characters. How is it that they learnt from Sara and made Gorou a well-rounded support but then go back and make the same mistakes with the next support characters? What made them worried about having Shenhe being too broken for Cryo when Ganyu was around the corner and would've incentivize people to buy roll on both banners to have a broken team? And how is it that they weren't worried with Gorou being too broken for Itto and other Geo?
@@alexliengsky6884 gorou doesn't just make them "viable" c6 noelle-Albedo-xiangling-Fischl was already a very viable team, with the introduction of Gorou it make that team comparable to extremely strong team, C6 gorou, Itto, albedo team is extremely good doing absurd amount of dmg (more than what you can do with Xiao-c4 jean combo, while having shield (cristallized, those shields are not that great) and your healing is not locked with your burst (C4 gorou)). also because they all scale of DEF, they are easier to build (DEF% have more chance than ATK% on artifacts)
I have one issue with one of your points- ...there's already a testing/beta server. That's actually where leakers get their leaks. I think the real issue is that they don't listen to their player base as much as people say they do.
they need dedicated beta players who actually know the game well, the open beta sucks and not much useful feedback is given from what i've heard. but also i feel like they're intentionally letting people leak stuff so they get more attention so it'll probably stay as is
@@xxri Y’know, that’s not a bad theory. Leaks forced them to start doing more active announcements for characters, after all. I agree though beta testers that actually know what to report would be so much better.
@@xxri ikr I highly doubt the beta players that test them rn are professional enough.Seeing the maturity of the fanbase I can determine that their monkey brains must've been turned on by the pretty animation and the appeal instead of pointing out actual flaws in the character...
I think one thing hoyo could do once per region is release a patch where they tweak a whole bunch of characters depending on what they think and the community thinks they need. A whole bunch of tweaks is pretty much equivalent to a new character being released as players have the chance to test out the new changes and experiment with potential new comps.
After hearing Yelan is rumoured to be a character whose burst performs hydro coordinated attacks, like Xingqiu, I wouldn't be surprised if they put some weird limitation in her kit that limits her potential and ironically makes her weaker than the 4* character you can get for free right now in the Irodori Festival
Well you expected it right lol. She indeed got downgraded few days ago. Making Her Hydro application somehow weaker. In a sense its a "limitation" Because now we will need C2 to make Her equal enabler as C6 XQ
@@taru5156 "lazy design filler character" god you people are fucking annoying. They put in a ton of work to give her a unique design appearance and animations entirely unique to her that nobody else has but of course dipshits like you claim she's "lazy" just because she functions similarly to another character . Completely disregarding the genuine effort put into making these characters. It's no wonder Hoyoverse treats this playerbase like complete shit and treats us over in honkai way better. Genuinely hoping 2nd year anniversary is awful now cause you people don't deserve goodwill at all.
Well Kazuha back then was deemed unworthy by many because he doesn't perform better than C6 Sucrose yet the tables have turned and many of us do need 2 anemo buffers anyway. Yelan entered the beta strong ngl and she remained the same (the application thing nerf was a bug fix in the files she never supposed to be 1.5U it was 1U all along)
many characters feel incomplete because without 6 constelations they are incomplete, that is the whale trap Klee cant keep her burst of field, because one constelation allows her to basically burst a second time when she leaves the field, but it sucks if you dont have her full constelation because you get the drawback but not the benefit playing full built 4 stars fell more complete, that is why Xiangling is so op for example, it is easy to get her 4th constelation Klee constelations work with the idea of keeping her on the field to generate energy to other characters, and then dealing extra damage when switching
Same reason why Barbara feels more complete than Qiqi. She can heal, have access to TTDS, her energy problem is addressed with two constellations and not just one like Qiqi and finally her constelltion 2 allows her to boost hydro dmg.
@@Anemonea As far as I'm aware Itto is the only claymore user who actually wants to use their charge attack. Sidenote; Why do none of the claymore characters have the classic charge attack where you leave yourself open while charging but do a single hit for massive damage.
But then we have characters like Ayaka, Ayato, Kazuha and Raiden who are great at c0 but like cons should, improve their existing gameplay instead of changing it
I completely agree with your points And it is pretty easy to see that the devs seemed afraid of creating strong characters with a lot of the problematic ones, which almost makes it seem like there are two teams, one of knows what they're doing and one that has no idea what they're doing It's especially true on characters that either can't or have issues generating energy (Lisa, QiQi, Noelle, Xiao....) which is baffling since such backwards design literally flies counter to how the game works regardless of how they expected it to be played
I definitely think artifacts can make up for a lot of weakness. Like everyone complaining that Kokomi was the worst 5 star because of the crit rate thing but with hued clam I saw her do 100k damage (and consistent 30k damage) in my recent spiral abyss run ON TOP of being a top tier tank + healing + hydro application. My Kokomi is a well rounded murder machine now.
the people saying kokomi was the worst 5 star are just delusional. she's a hydro catalyst, there's no way she can be the worst, even before OHC when qiqi exists
Being a Noelle main I think she's in a questionable position. She's supposed to be a support but I'd say it's a bad design choice, considering the shielder-healer role is taken by Diona and she's much preferred over Noelle because of the Cryo reactions and less uptime as a support. But then, when someone wants to make Noelle a main DPS then they need the 6th constellation which is kind of silly and I think that's what turns people's interest away from her. The build doesn't function with a mixed 2-2 artifacts sets. Lastly the energy regen is basically non-existent so Geo battery support is a must alongside the switching to funnel most of the particles to Noelle. Compare that to, let's say building a Main DPS Ningguang which is arguably easier.
@@rust8995 The point of my comment is to point out her disadvantages to players contemplating to use Noelle and to provide speculation as to why she's not as popular as other 4* characters to be used as a main carry. And I think the shield and healing that she have just doesn't sound like she would be used as a DPS without diving into a theorycrafting territory. A regular/casual player who played the game that mostly out of touch with the theorycrafters would simply think building Noelle DPS is just not worth the trouble.
@@karkovb5306 The person who voiced Noelle actually helped decide what her kit was going to be when she was going to be used in the game. I actually genuinely looked up the information surrounding it, so I know for a fact that i am NOT MAKING it up as well. You can try to attempt to look it up for yourself if you do not fully believe as well. She was definitely fully finished already before they even made the game, hence the reason why she is gaureented to be pulled on the beginning banner of the game as well.
I would assume that they could have possibly talked about exactly what yoy mentioned here when they were talking about other information regarding how she might be questioned later on the future as well. Every person who knows something about any particular topic either tends to know more than they intially let on, or only chooses to say something about it phrased specifically before they get their role that they knew that they would be getting as well. By the looks of she might have actually written HERSELF PRIOR to even helping decide her character kit, she KNEW this information and more; even a few other characters they were going to eventually be making for the game as well. Dori, I believe was one of them as well; which they may or may not have used for her character special move and overall movement when attacking as well. I believe that they eventually even showed the person who actually voiced her, and she even admitted to not even being able to write in that specific style herself as well. I believe that she also does a voice on Lego Friends as well, as she even admitted somewhere online that she always has thoughts on the content on what to say somewhere inside of her brain almost at all times; and that the voice lines are done SPECIFICALLY for the game ONLY as well!!!! This information might be strangely and HONESTLY sourced prior to 2020, as well some content being made PRIOR to when they got released to the general public being DECIDED by the VOICE ACTORS themselves whenever they actually felt it APPROPRIATE to air on television as well!!!!
From my knowledge each and every person, myself included, mentioned the information in such a way that it would literally have to copied and pasted into the appropriate sections to explain the specific circumstance that is going to be used in as well; regardless of how old the source material actually is as well.
Kokomi's lack of Crit is one of the minor problems. Rn she's mostly used as a jellyfish bot, and it's because her mechanics battle healer just doesn't really work. If she does less damage than the DPS, she won't ever be great. If she does more or equal, then she becomes a DPS. The only way that I can think to fix this is to lower her uptime, but one of the things I actually want for Kokomi is higher uptime because it feels unsatisfying to not be able to stay on field for long.
Idk if this is an unpopular opinion, but the crit debuff was an okay addition. All that is needed to increase BOTH her damage and healing is to funnel everything to HP-in effect, lesser substats to worry about and no stat-splitting on artifacts. If the crit stat stayed, it'd be a dilemma between more damage or more healing, and clearly, she can't compete in the damage department for balancing sake. Kokomi's kit, as it is now, is arguably one of the most balanced among the latest releases. Sure, an additional buff to her burst multipliers would be good for overall damage output, but she does feel "complete," offering healing, defense, decent damage (Sukokomon teams showcase this), driving, and Hydro application all in one. She doesn't have a drastic flaw in her kit. Edit: After reading other replies, I guess one flaw is the uneven 25:100 Healing Bonus and Crit tradeoff. It does feel a bit unfair, but due to how excess Kokomi's healing is, I can understand why. BUT STILL.
personally I think Kokomi is in a good place, just the tradeoff of 25% HB for -100 CR just doesn't seem justified. I'm saying this as one who use her as an on-field driver, because really, her playstyle of carrying everyone's bursts (beidou, xingqiu, xiangling, rosaria, kaeya) or skills (albedo, yae miko, fischl) is fun and different from what most people use.
I think y'all are just playing her wrong. Her negative crit is the absolute least of your worries, it's just that they undertuned her talent scaling badly so the damage she deals is rather average. I'd also like them to change her A1 talent to a cooldown reset rather than duration but it's a minor inconvenience at most. There are plenty of people who use her in taser comp and have seen a lot of success, as she fixes the problem of the comp having no good healer/ shielder while also being the best hydro driver for it.
With yelan's kit being sussed out, I do think that MHY is on the right path, Yelan is, at first glance, a xingqiu clone, but looking at her kit clearly shows differences in her niches. her damage buffing is offense oriented, contrasting the resistance to interruption, healing and damage reduction given by Xingqiu (which may seem like xq's skill does more, but all of those are kinda useless if one has Zhongli tbh), and her skill also having CC and less downtime. Her HP scaling means that benny cant buff her, and that she's better off running an ER (sac, fav, elegy), Stringless, that HP scaling bow, or Crit weapon rather than running something with high base attack. Also, its kinda niche, but I do think that her being a bow is much better than being a sword, as if one were to compare the MIllenial movement weapons, Elegy's ER substat is much better for a burst support than freedom sworn's EM (esp for XQ, who does suffer from energy problems). So yeah, as long as Sumeru characters are as well designed as Yelan, I think genshin will be in a good spot.
I disagree with ur "xingqiu sowrd rain healing and g reduction" being useless 1) dmg reduction means ur shield takes less dmg = u can build ur zhongli a bit more offensive to not have a useless burst it may be a dps loss but if the enemies moves a lot you're losing dps anyway so it's better to have a burst that put them in place. 2) healing is important because corrosion is a thing and now most enemies have anti shield abilities 3) xingqiu rain sword around him applies hydro every 2.5z Wich makes xingqiu c6 hydro application superior to yelan if u have only c0 yelan 4) c6 xingqiu doesn't suffer "much" from energy since he can regenerate flat energy around 12 at least so his burst goes down to 68 5) xingqiu burst last longer than yelan burst, xingqiu has a cleansing ability Wich could be both very useful or slightly harmful I agree that having access to elegy is a huge plus for yelan she's more offensive oriented but not necessarily better if her c2 was part of her kit she would be better actually what matters in this game is how much element u can apply the more hydro u can apply the better you're at least for the current meta if Kokomi jelly fish stayed the way it was during beta she'd be the worst 5* character in game applying hydro every other tick of her skill Wich is worse for freeze

I wish they add characters around the map like Klee fish blasting at the lake or shogun at her room and mona or Xangling preforming music somewhere. Hell we haven't seen mona In a bloody long time not even in the windbloom festival were she has a house that she lives in.
You do not understand how the game works and operates as a whole. Even if cutscenes might be included inside of the game as a whole, the server control over the game makes it so the cutscenes are ONLY unlocked in yours after they occur once in your game; or only temporarily unlocked during the correct cutscene/event as well.
I could not even locate anything regarding them even directly acknowledging the other footage where I did successfully every other Mona's domain besides the one that they made for the event location as well. They were definitely all very interesting to do as well, although I was way better at the game then as well and was able to understand what to do in them somewhat easier considering that I literally OBESSED with her character at one point in time as well.
Miyiho must had their very specific reasons as to what they chose to place in there to be at least able to potentially get located and found considering that they were already pretty, pretty specific about the content being mentioned in there as well.
The windblume festival was not intended for Mona to have an appearance in as the text should have fully explained itself the way that it was written as well. The only time she shows up in the game, to my knowledge, is when you do the daily commission regarding her house rent; unless she is somewhere else entirely, as you know that time of day very clearly matters by know, as well.
I am not certain on why I even had to mention what I said previously, although it does help to get that particular thoguht out of my head and for other people to see exactly what they missed by not playing the game as well.
We need ascension 7 so characters can get a final passive to fix an issue they have, or add more to them. Maybe Childe's riptide can be activated by all teammates? Or Klee's burst works off-field? Maybe even give Kokomi a 100% crit rate boost during her burst???
Agree with all but Kokomi, she is already very good the way she is, and for Childe I would like to see an HP scaling passive so they can change hydro resonance to HP increase (or it could be ER increase so it is useful to everyone and no changes are needed)
Yeah Kokomi never should've had -100% crit rate added to her kit. Ngl it's just bad game design. If they really wanted her to deal less damage then they could've made her ratios super low instead of taking an entire stat away from her. They could've also had her crit stats convert to healing bonus or hp percentage. That would've worked far better.
(my thoughts pre video) I think it's weird how people go "all inazuma characters are incomplete or bad" - the only cases of flaws in their kits I can think of or something "missing" is Yoimiya with her ult and yae with the recasting of her turrets that takes so much field time. Maybe Kokomi's crit passive is weird but she does what she's supposed to do, heal and apply hydro. But kazuha, ayaka and Raiden are meta and work well - Raiden is super celebrated despite the early Beidou problems. Itto and Ayato are received well because they deliver what they promise to deliver. And that leaves the 4 stars. Most are very niche or side grades, but that's because they don't want to make more Bennetts and XQs. And it's not too bad - Sara and Gorou are niche buffers who do that thing well, and people who like Thoma and Sayu can use them instead of Zhongli or Jean. So I think the "inazuma characters are bad as a whole" is kinda wrong - in Mondo and liyue there's also Ambers and Xinyans. I'm really excited for the video and curious if he mentions this community reception about inazuma characters!
Kokomi was definitely written off way too early, but could you really blame them? She has the first talent that actively nerfs the character, and just for some healing bonus. I agree with you on Yoi and Yae, but the inazuma 4 stars are extremely scuffed until high constellations. Sara has an extremely short buff, an inconsistent skill, and constellations that should honestly be a part of her base kit so she isn’t so annoying to use at c0 (decorum really isn’t that useful and c2 should replace it). Thoma steals vapes from Hu Tao with his burst, and has a really high burst cost that gets fixed with cons; Gorou is a niche buffer that only works in geo teams. Sayu’s the only one I’m glad to have around, she’s nice to have for exploration and healing.
@@mrmwm5446 I totally agree on Thoma and Sara cons, that they shouldn't be so necessary to fix their clunkiness and energy problems respectively. And I was also really disappointed that he steals vapes from Tao. But I think at full cons they are very usable - and earlier 4 stars were like that too like Noelle who really only becomes viable at C6
My counter-argument against that is that they restrict certain aspects that may make a character be overpowered and also become the next power creep. I mean take a look at Ganyu, Xiao and Hu Tao. So I can understand that. But what I don’t get is why they couldn’t change some numbers instead of coming up with these issues unnecessary fluff. Take for example Kokomi. The reason why she can’t crit is because her damage output would be too great due to doing max health damage and damage based on healing, while also being a pretty tanky healer herself. Well, just change her numbers and remove the crit restrictions. Easy enough, right? I can understand that Hoyoverse wants to make each character’s play style and gameplay as unique and different as possible so that they aren’t carbon copies of the older ones. But the problem is that they ate already different enough, just that their numbers need to be calculated and you don’t need worry about it. That’s all.
Imo the reason she cant crit is because if she did, her kit would value a crit circlet over her current Healing Bonus. Which goes against what the developers wanted her to be, a healer who deals consistent damage and wants field time. Not to mention, she'd need to have like a billion stats, HP, Atk, Crit rate, Crit damage, ER.. while also wanting healing bonus. Removing one of her strengths as an easy to build, low investment but low ceiling unit. Her kit is rather interesting but I wish she just got more bang for her buck, since crit is a very big multiplier in the damage formula.
@@Soli167 well it's pretty easy to fix that just buff up her hp scaling, cause sincerely i find it ridiculous that she is there sitting at 8-10% and yelan is sitting at 20 to 40% AND CRITING!
@@nevadachi That's the main problem with Kokomi. Not crit. Crit goes against her playstyle, first of all. Second, crit is already kind of replaced with Ocean Hued set. And finally, she's supposed to be a battle healer or a sub-dps who support her teammates and then fight herself so she doesn't need to have big dmg as compares to actual dps character. Simply by giving her more hp or increase the scaling, she can probably do a lot more dmg than she can now.
I really believe that just changing yoimiyas burst would be enough. It should apply to all enemies hit by it and get its duration increased by 2 seconds(should be 1 tick if i remember correctly) when it jumps to a new enemy. Also yoimiyas should be able to proc them herself or at least have the explosions from the marks make a chainreaction. It would make her burst iin combination with ventis burst a litteral firework which would be so awesome. The damage would probably be reduced to about 60 to 80% of what it is now but it would still be an overall buff in my opinion. What could also work fine which is a very common idea to buff her is making her aa deal a small aoe when her e is used or make her 3rd and 5th shot deal damage in a big aoe since they are the strongest hits and should really feel like they pack an explosion.
I agree. Her E should have aoe fireworks explosion at the end of her attack and her Q should apply to all enemy that she will hit with her ult. Still hoping a rework when she gets a rerun
the least they could do to make her better is to let her continue her normal attack strings just like Itto does. as much as i love to receive those buffs i doubt they would do it. they also dont realize that her lack of AoE is a bigger problem than her normal attacks not dealing enough damage. That's why Yun Jin's existence still doesn't brought her to the meta
@@kugisaki8132 If they add AoE to her E I'm gonna be so happy... She has been suffering in abyss lately... With the buff but so many targets really decreases her overall time to clear...
Yoimiya not being able to trigger her own burst is such an overrated problem, Genshin's got a wealth of good off field dps supports like Xingqiu, Raiden, Kokomi, Beidou, etc. You want to be using these characters anyway, especially Xingqiu, for the reactions, you'd be leaving a huge pile of potential damage on the table without them, so you've got the trigger for Yoimiya's burst right there. Using her with Raiden especially solves her AoE problem (and it lets you conveniently prioritize focus: Since Raiden always triggers second in response to the attacks, you can put all your EM on her). Her normals missing and screwing up the pyro application cycle if you're interrupted or need to dodge is her REAL big problem.
@@Jetsetlemming I partly agree with what you wrote considering how EASY it is to get hit anyways, regarding her special move anyways; considering how she is definitely noticeably vulnerable when she is casting it without any shields to protect from either far away from archers or vertical sword movements from enemies as well.
Would you ever make a video discussing how characters are used in Multiplayer compared to Single? You have no idea just how good Qiqi is against Azhdaha in Multi.
Yoimiya's design tells us she is a "rush in" character. In the sense that theoretically should have two playstyles. She would actually be the one starting the rotation, then switching to another unit (Like Childe) after her burst, giving them an attack boost and letting them trigger her burst. You could also use a sub dps (Like Xingqiu) to trigger her burst, making her the only main dps in the party. However, the problem with her burst is that it cannot Vaporize properly. It has a regular ICD of 2.5 seconds and it triggers every 2. Meaning you vaporize every 4 seconds. This basically kills the playstyle and is exactly what makes her burst one of the worst in the entire game. It is probably an intentional design to make people use Shimenawa instead of CW. Yoimiya can't vaporize enough for her to be a decent competition to someone like Hu Tao. There are other "incomplete" or "defective" characters. Yae miko's EM scaling is really useless and it takes one of the Talent slots. Ayato's ER talent isn't strong enough to keep him as an Off field burst. Klee applies too much pyro. etc etc
"Intentional design to make people use Shimenawa instead of CW" Not entirely True. The majority of reason people use Shimenawa is its easy to farm, since EoSF is considered broken so no resin is beint wasted. However, *Shimenawa is actually worse than 2 pc build according to math and CW in fact is still best of the Bunch especially when she is run in reaction comp* And you know She is one of the few units that can abuse OverVap making CW arguably BiS if you have the will to farm it. "Yoimiya can't vaporize enough to be decent competition for Hu Tao" Its 2022 and it should be obvious by now, *Yoimiya can Vap equal number of Hits as Hu Tao using Her highest Multiplier Hits* Not to mention, She can in fact keep up with Hu Tao deapite Her lack of Nuke and AoE. A ton of comparison already exist and proven it you can go see it for yourself. Add to the fact every single abyss since 2.3 has been constantly an NA buff further benefit Yoimiya.
@@zadokutah2315 you didn't get the point at all. I didn't say that 4 piece Shimenawa was BiS, I said that Hoyo tried to encourage the usage of it by giving her a trashy burst, nothing else. And I don't know where exactly are you taking that Yoimiya can Vaporize the same amount of hits, when Hu Tao has no ICD on her charge attacks. Yoimiya can have like 3 strings of normal attacks during her E, aka 3 strong hits. Hu Tao can Vaporize about 5-7 charge attacks minimum even if you dash cancel at C0. No, Yoimiya can't apply enough Pyro to vaporize properly. That is probably another intentional choice to encourage the usage of 4P Shimenawa regardless of how strong it actually is. I don't see where exactly are the comparisons. And I want fair ones, not like in the abyss of 2.4. Hu Tao is miles away in terms of dps, especially when she is using Sucrose and someone like Tankfei. And the abyss being buffs for Yoimiya isn't entirely true. It was when the abyss was a boss rush where enemies could have up to -30% resistance by normal attacking. Now there is a lot of multi targeting for freeze, which Yoimiya sucks at.
@@leojustice3367 "they encouraged the use of it by giving her a trashy burst" that's just your emotionally driven conspiracy theory though. It isn't a fact in any way whatsoever.
@@justsomeguy727 not really. It does not come from emotions since I don't even even have Yoimiya nor I like her character. This comes from the fact that: 1. Shimenawa was released with her in update 2.0 2. She doesn't have a truly dedicated artifact set besides that one (before echoes of an offering but even then that Set is kinda meh and was mostly for Ayato) 3. Her burst has no reason to be so bad. 4. Her being so bad with Vaporize makes 4 piece CW worse as it gives her less damage bonus
Diluc is obviously designed based on however he was talked about in the building before anyone even was really trusted enough to even work on his cutscenes inside of the game. They ALREADY KNEW about him getting an outfit, and they at least already programmed a cutscene into the game to get played to get it FOR FREE as well with the script even directly saying so as well.
It did honestly APPEAR to be completely INTERNAL as well, as they were already describing information regarding his character ALREADY by the point in time I was strangely interested in looking up information regarding him as a character as well.
Think what you want about his character as a whole, as they probably ALREADY were thinking that questionable thoughts/opinions would eventually be getting out surrounding his character one way or another as well.
I think one of the biggest problems is that almost all the monetization of the game is relying on characters so they want you to always be pulling and if a character you previously got is bad, well, shame on you. If they had other ways to make money, namely cosmetic items (skins, gliders, pets, furnishings, name cards, profile picture, etc...) They could afford to buff/fix older characters without ""hurting"" their income
I would not say that the problem is necessarily that there is enough characters wanting to get pulled for them to make enough money, compared to the scripts that MIHIYO already written up for the gams to be used for certain video footage already as well. The character that was just released inside of the game as of writing this comment, we were already thinking that she was loaded inside of the game code locked behind security protocol among the immediate release of the Inazuma region as well. Mihiyo definitely mentioned that even though they wrote the script for the video, that they would make the characters say it instead to make it more believable among the fact that they probably wanted to avoid directly saying it as well.
I did believe that I saw the video while they were still working on it/wanting to see how it would get portrayed by the general public, and I was immediately confused about her character model and actions being performed outside combat as well. Mihiyo must have adjusted the skill based on what I was saying about it, but ONLY because I was the one who mentioned it as well. I was definitely saying something along the lines of making it be able to actually go up walls, when Mihiyo themselves did not have any plans at the then current moment to even do that yet themselves as well. I did believe that Mihiyo also mentioned that they already recieved information like that to be adjusted to her skill already, but most of them had absolutely no clue about what they were even talking about; although few of them did give them some potential ideas to use. They were also asking a few of the people who actually gave them the idea prior to do something first to actually impress them first then your ideas might get considered more to be used over other people's as well.
Inazuma did not even have any walls at all when I even mentioned the idea to them as well. It was still mostly text then as well. I am also saying this publicly to make more people aware that they more than likely made Inazuma first before any other region in the game as well. Their own text did not even say what the item collectible was inside of the region either as well. Also Mihiyo already made their point very clearly that they knew already that they could phrase certain thoughts the way they only could prior to the game getting a lot of attention privately as well. They were always very honest when it came to their position regarding whatever they were writing up as well.
They were even already well aware of Hoyoverse even before Hoyoverse was even aware of them as well. Their own message regarding the recent summer event location even directly mentioned them making it intentionally before they even found out about it to avoid making any further changes to it without their approval. They even already locked the file, so they cannot edit it without one of their own logins as well. I knew that it was going on because I was literally and figuratively stalking them when they were designing Xinyan's domain as well; and they were perfectly well aware of it as well. I am also saying this here because it is being portrayed as something else on another video as well.
I was also way too interested in Mona's other domains that they already made for her by that point in time, and the one included for the summer time event is infact the correct file to be loaded into it as well. Mona was even mentioning it herself inside of the one of the other domains as well. The access limited time items that were left over from clearing the domain should at least theoretically be used inside of the walls of the event location as well. Hopefully whoever wrote up the blog about the event location questioning the usuage of the access items finds this comment and uses it per the appropriate usuage as well. Unfortunately probably it is the only way for me to get the information out of my head to be phrased correctly as well. He did mention anyone to comment about it on the website as well.
tbh honest its would be dope if they added a mechanic in where a character had to equip like a special equipment to add an extra effect or change their kit (not just simply adding on raw states like atk or crit) that would open up the door for the lest popular units. this was done in princess connect where every character have thier own role like dps, tank ,healer ,buffer and debuffer but over time some of the 1 star character become op cpz of said uniqe equipment.
"Out of the original five, he aged the best" - I have to disagree with this assessment. Assuming we apply "accruing constellations over time" to the original five since they're your "reward" for losing a 50/50, Jean by FAR gains the most utility and power. ATK/Movement speed increase, 40% anemo shred and 35% damage reduction. That's insane.
Mona and Jean are both better imo and have more usage in Abyss. I also don‘t think he‘s a better unit than Kokomi, she was literally the second most used character during the last Abyss phase and has always been in the top 10 since her release whereas nobody really uses Diluc anymore. He might be well rounded, but that‘s not enough clearly, so I don‘t think it‘s right to say he‘s a more complete unit than Kokomi. She got a lot of hate during her release, but most people have realised that she is a useful character after all. You can‘t replace her as easily as you could replace Diluc.
As someone who has jean she is not easy to build and Bennet does a better job than her in per primary role , her healing scales of of atk and that domain hasn't given me a single good piece after around 20,000 resins
As far as aloy goes I've always thought she was supposed to have a standalone event when horizon 2 came out it'd be super late for it now but I feel like we still need her event someday so we can get a story for her and her constellations (if her constellations end up being heavy support based she could be a great cryo support in certain ways)
Personally I don’t think it’s inherently wrong or an oversight to create a character that focuses on single target, but Yoimiya’s burst really is spotty at best. Also I always liked how Qiqi heals since it allows you remain aggressive with your main dps.
Here's a thought. I'd be fine with characters having weaker but at least cohesive kits so we could treat them as "challenge mode" characters... if there were more endgame activities than just the Spiral Abyss' DPS check. The stress of speed-clearing more or less kills creativity.
I'm honestly kinda frustrated with how many new characters we've been getting lately, specifically because of the possibility of this happening. There need to be longer periods of character testing and tweaking so that they all function well and are balanced properly. To go along with these longer periods, they could just continue to do rerun banners, maybe even having a banner that highlights a specific character from standard banner like they did with Keqing. This gives people who missed characters the first time a chance to get them, and it gives players who don't want to roll more time before they have to worry about having enough Primogems for the newer characters. The other problem has been weapon banner. All it would take would be letting the Epitomized Path roll over between banners. Having to make that many wishes in such a short span of time to get a single copy of the weapon you want isn't something I could ever see myself rolling on.
Since I've been using Aloy a bit more often lately, I actually got a lot of ideas how she could be stronger. First of all, constelations. I think thats the most obvious one. Maybe there could be an event so you can get them, but thats not important. If 4 of Aloys bombs explode, she gets a cryo effect, kinda like Ayaka with her sword after she sprints. One of the constelations could be, that it would already be enough to just activate her e to get that effect, a bit like Yoimiyas e. Of course that just an idea, but it would make Aloy a bit more relevant. (sorry for my bad english)
Maybe not just use E for the effect to activate but if you hit with the E the effect is granted. So you can get the good shot and cryo at the start or if you miss you need to pop the 4 mini bombs
Completely agree, and i also feel it isnt just the characters that have this, some aspects of the world in general feel incomplete. For instance the fact it is always sunny in the cities, why cant we have some npc's in the rain? also nearly every npc has a voice actor as they all have the passive lines they say, so why in any quest that isnt a main story quest do they not speak. Also yes i want the main characters that we can play be npc's just in the open world.
Man, as someone who was excited for Yae since 2.4 CN stream, her release rub me a little on the wrong way, didn't stop me for pulling C2R1 but the thought that she mightve/could've been better if they gave her some more time...
If I could make tweaks to Kokomi's kit/signature weapon: 1. Ascension stat is HP% instead of hydro dmg bonus 2. Jellyfish has a few seconds of more uptime, and her passive talent resets the cooldown of the jellyfish upon casting burst 3. Everlasting Moonglow, Kokomi's atrocious signature weapon, is changed to have 44 base attack and 19.2 hp% at lvl 1, and the weapon passively gives 20% healing bonus instead of just 10%
For the case of Yae Miko, she does what's expected of her. Its just a couple quality of life changes that would make her feel whole. Such as giving her armor/invincibility on her E, OR simply speeding up her E in general. Allowing multiple Yaes to exist in co-op. (Hot take btw, if her E could snapshot she would be the single strongest sub-dps in the game chane my mind). Additionally her ult is bit inconsistent at times, the backloaded damage from her Tenko thunderbolts whiff more often than you'd think because enemies want to jump, dash, burrow, blink or god forbid, walk away (it happens). If I were testing her in beta, I would have offered two solutions for this. 1. The Tenko thunderbolts follow the main target of whoever gets hit by the first ult strike. 2. All enemies hit by the first ultimate hit are momentarily paralyzed and interrupted, so her thunderbolts have time to land. Not too long mind you, only like a second. And this is kind of just a me thing, but her constellations past c2 seem incredibly boring. C4 specifically. It just feels like at higher constellations most characters get an injection of awesomeness that completely changes their gameplay, or makes them even better at what they do, but in an interesting way. Example: Xiao at c6 is a completely different character than c0-c5. Itto looks helarious to play because he can potentially non-stop unga bunga attack. Raiden at c6 ascends to celestia by lowering ult cooldowns of everyone in her party. Kazuha gets anemo infusion, making him main dps material. Zhongli turns into a freaking healer. Diluc at c6 has some of the smoothest gameplay. For Yae, I wish for her c4, or c6, She got an extra Tenko thunderbolt, which would tie back into her c1 nicely, or maybe make her c6 *shread* defense rather than just *ignore* defense on E hit, since she's in the sub dps category. Or, even have a constellation have her turrets increase attack speed. Idk, there are a lot of fun ideas. Just kind of feels like wasted potential.
I think you did great job covering the topic, as always. However I think there is one more category of characters that feel "incomplete". These are the characters that lack things from their kit that are usually locked behind constellations. The two characters I have for examples are Hu Tao and Xiao. Hu Tao has been designed with the idea to spam charged attacks, however unless one has C1 they will have stamina issues unless they get used to the charge attack into jump cancel play style. As for Xiao we all know that he starts with two charges of his E and once one obtains C1 he gets the third charge. Without C1 many people find themselves having energy issues and we all know how dependent he is on his burst. The third dash rly helps fixing this issue. However it is locked behind C1 and I rly feel that he should have had all 3 dashes available to him at C0 which makes me feel that he is an incomplete character at C0.
And it doesn't help that Hoyoverse wants to release at least 17 new characters per year. Anyway I thought the video was going to show incomplete characters locked with constellations
oof, that FF:BE call back, my in game time for consecutive log-in days was over 1K. Eventually it was the same thing as you, they added in some new progression system on top of what was there and i just had to put it down. I go back and poke it it once a year and it's wild how much extra stuff there is in it now, it's legit mind blowing. I honestly have no idea how new players make ground in that game.
In defense of Qiqi: I disagree that she’s “incomplete.” Switching onto a character who needs healing to attack an enemy marked by her talisman isn’t really *that* difficult. I’m not saying Qiqi is overpowered, but I think Mhy underestimated how much their player base would concern themselves with maximizing every single character slot. They thought we would want only a pure healer.
I'd say less about maximizing teams and more being tailored to pc users over mobile. Eventually this game will no longer be playable of mobile do to the difficulty curve later areas bring and how steep of requirements they need just to play it.
@@IveBeenWithBruma I disagree with that, too. This game is first and foremost a mobile game. That’s why the mechanics are as simple as they are. This game is geared towards the Chinese and from what I understand, they game on the go on their mobile devices.
@@Empressranda if that were the case they would optimize for most mobiles not the most expensive ones. The further this game gets into its story the less devices will be able to cope. Inazuma was a prime example of this.
@@IveBeenWithBruma Well yeah you can’t play this on a potato device of course but they actually have made changes to optimize mobile. Like how past cutscenes don’t take up space anymore. Most newer phones can run this game. And I know that because I play this game on mobile when I’m away from home. Which is often.
You are definitely right in what you say, but I also think that the fact that certain characters are made in certain ways works for people who are more eccentric in their gameplay than the average player. Like for example I favor Qiqi's healing, because I hated to have to switch to a healer and attack for extended period of time to heal myself, so putting a curse on the enemy and switching back to my DPS to heal myself was actually more to my liking than a general healing strategy approach. Though I was very surprised that she doesn't generate particles, because I assumed she would and tried to use her as cryo battery and I didn't even notice she doesn't generate them until I watched your video, and you said it (I am just afflicted with single focus during playing, so I do not see what happens on the screen very well when I focus on battle). I also find the game unplayable if I follow all the guidelines how to make proper teams, who should be with team with whom and what should be the rotation of the attacks. It just doesn't work for me, so I find the existence of "incomplete units" very nice, because I can play them in the way which suits me, not general players. And I think there may be more people like me who feel better using those units and figuring out ways how to use them in ways which feels right for them, than having to get accustomed to the gameplay of the "best" units. Overload Keqing with a shield just felt right. Also, I do not think that we should encourage corporations to literally not pay people for testing their games simply because they're willing to do it for free. It only sounds great for the company, but when you look at it from worker perspective, everybody deserves to be paid for their work and from what I know game testing is the most exploitative type of work in game industry if we not count how employers put crunch hours on their workers and literally do not respect their employee's health, personal time and boundaries. It's important to remember about this issue.
YES! It all comes down to what YOU personally like and how YOU want to play the game. There is nothing necessarily wrong with a character just because they are not your cup of tea, we are here to have fun. All characters are able to clear the game, if you like the spiral abyss and doing big numbers just pull for characters who are great there, but not all need to be, where would we get diversity?
This is like the dumbest take ever. The fact that you didn’t know Qiqi doesn’t generate particles already bars you from this conversation bc u can just play abt anything if that’s the case so why are u arguing if the character is purposely good when u don’t even know in the first place cuz u don’t care. Genshin has very limited resources and ppl spend money just for characters/weapons so ofc there’s expectations for them to be viable, if you think spending money or working hard to earn for a shitty character is fine then that’s just on you cuz hoyo can make a dogshit character and you’ll still prolly pull for them for ‘eccentricity’ points, now let the rest of the demographic talk.
I think her main problem is her ICDs which doesn’t allow her to vape/melt as frequently as Hu Tao or Ganyu and her useless burst that she doesn’t benefit from at all (such smart design! Not). Oh and she also needs a mechanic that doesn’t break her attack sequence like with itto. All her damage is in her 4th attack I think so not running interrupt resist is detrimental to her dps
@@TacticalDimples In my opinion, her two biggest problems are the lack of Aoe (Yes, makes difference), and the fact that her E don't give resistance or a mechanic that makes her attack sequence don't break after evasion. Like, Yoimiya is really paper, her scaling are bigger in the last hits of AA, but sometimes times u have to evade or something like that, and u lose a lot of dmg (Just like u said)
One idea I always had for Yoimiya is that they focus in on her single target damage by changing her burst cost to 40, activate her burst herself and whoever is marked by her burst is the highest 'Priority' enemy allowing her niche to be extremely fast single target clearing and so that she isn't as disadvantaged when going against mobs.
completely off topic but i love your non intrusive like & sub message in the middle of the video, makes me way more interested in actually doing that as opposed to what a ton of other channels do lmao
Seriously, give Diluc's burst the same properties as Ayaka's burst and we have a winner lol. No for real though, I like Diluc a lot as he is. He functions so well as my second-half DPS while Ayato leads the first half. I do think he needs some changes to his passives (A1 passive is a godsend for Itto but not for Diluc, and his A4 passive is literally worse than Xingqiu's A4 passive)
Something that is actually common in gacha games, which I have played a few, is to make characters for future content, be newer characters, artifact sets equivalents, weapons, events or enemies, you can see it in this game as Albedo released long before Cinnabar Spindle and the Husk set, how Yoimiya released before Yun Jin or how Kokomi released before the clam set
i feel like with certain characters like kokomi- they’re handicapping them in certain areas bc they’re op in others like w/ kokomi when u give her the ocean set or whatever she can do decent damage and heals insane amounts but of course theres the lack of crit rate/dmg to offset it? idk about others tho i just know kokomi bc i main her lmao
Love how I found Qiqi just milling around near the Liyue docks some nights, just a quaint touch of these characters existing beyond our business with them.
The main problem I personally have is that Hoyoverse is seeming to always focus on the meta of the game and how to "fix" it. Instead, they should focus on both meta (I think the concept of a "meta" is dumb as is, but that's just me) and the characters' roles in the story. For example, I'd love to see more story quests with the 5 stars, especially where we go back and start getting more direct help to find our sibling. And add more hangouts to be with them. Not saying what they do now with character design is that bad, but I feel like most characters are put in the game more for creating more "BIG D ENERGY" damage dealers based on what they want to balance for in the spiral abyss, and not for the sake of adding a new and interesting character. I play Genshin for the exploration, puzzles, and story more than anything else, and have most of the characters currently released, but some of them are 5 stars I've yet to really build at all cause I don't care enough for their personalities. Both should be equally important, even things like simply who the voice actor is. I loved that I got Zhongli during his 1st rerun more because of his VA than anything, and I loved Klee cause she so cute she literally cures my crippling depression. And one day, I hope we get either a Loli or a teen sized character that uses the voice actor for Senko San in her English dub cause the VA is just loveable.
Another video of this is of Braxophone's video in which there are some speculations that Yoi and Yae are really incomplete or so to say unfinished characters. The the concept is really fascinating to think because the characters when released really feel like they lack something, almost as if they really are unfinished and they just want to release the unit in time for the deadline of release.
I like the appeal (cuteness) part of the game, which is why, most characters in genshin impact that I like, like Keqing, Klee, Qiqi, Yoimiya, Kokomi and YunJin, seems to be less popular in meta. Although I am glad I also like Ayaka, and she somehow the most "balanced" cryo character in the game. And in the recent characters, I also like Ayato, as I have been dissapointed with the long cooldown mechanic of Childe, as I wanted a hydro dps, that Kokomi failed to do so. Which is kinda weird, when the artifact set made for Ayato is bugged with him right now. Sometimes I felt the company might have too much bias towards Liyue, proven by the previous big three Liyue (Hu Tao, Xiao and Ganyu), which still work great now. It might have been small external factors, but because of the beta testers mostly only from China, low amount of testing because of the time limit, the law sand governrnent possible intervention, as well as the current lockdown due to covid-19, the playtesting is not the best condition now. so much potential wasted in this game. Btw this isnt about gameplay wise, but I am still waiting for Ludi Harpastum event.
Yep its inevitable that Hoyo has a bias towards Liyue characters. And i feel like Ayaka & Raiden are their cash cows, hence they made them and their constellations broken. Ayaka being teased since CBT and Raiden being an archon.
it's so weird to have such a childish bias in a multi billion dollar company, literally risking losing money just to make your country look better, it even makes me think this is a CPP decision.
I don't think it's bias. It's like a trait they want to make from each region. Liyue unit known as role specific unit while Inazuma unit known as multi tasking generalized unit. Mondsdat mostly has straight forward not complicated combo unit. And probably different trait for Sumeru, Fontaine, Natlan, and Snezhaya unit.
As a Childe main, I gotta say his cool down isn't an issue if you manage it properly. He's just not a hypercarry dps. People usually exit out of his melee mode once Xiangling's/Beidou's burst are done. And by the time your supports have their bursts filled up again, his cooldown has already ended.
The big problem is that hoyo doesn't update characters regularly like other games do, they only update 2 characters in almost 2 years and it was because they feared losing money. Even the artifacts doesn't change, take the milelith for example, only zongli can use the full set properly, because he can shield and do damage over time with his skill to mantain the buff that last only for 3 seconds. Other shield characters can't do this, so the 4 set is not useful.
It feels like a godsend for this video to release, because Complete Characters constitute my entire team building strategy. I call my team composition the "Crossroads Team" which consists of Hu Tao, Albedo, Kazuha, and Bennett. The focus here being that two characters compliment each other while also setting a stage for the other two. Hu Tao and Bennett being used for heavy damage and healing, while also providing a Crit Rate and ATK buff to Albedo and Kazuha. Albedo and Kazuha providing an Elemental Mastery buff, Elemental damage bonus, Decreased elemental resistance, and supplemental Geo damage that provides my team with occasional shields through Crystallize. Hu Tao is a heavy damage dealer, but still contributes a Crit Rate buff Albedo is used for supplemental damage and burst damage, but still contributes an Elemental Mastery bonus. Kazuha is used for crowd control, but still provides an Elemental Damage bonus. Bennett is used for healing and buffing, but still manages to deal a solid amount of damage. Point being: The first thing I look for is if a character can serve both their main purpose and provide some synergy, no matter how small, to the other characters in my party. Thus being the reason why I'm skipping Ayato for Yelan. One of Yelan's passive abilities provides a damage bonus while her ultimate is active, whereas almost all of Ayato's entire kit is centered around himself, save for a Normal Attack Damage bonus that you would honestly have an easier time getting from Yun Jin. Yun Jin, might I add, is a SOLID tank on top of being a support. Again, serving one purpose while providing another. Even a 5-Star as old as Venti can still provide a great deal for your party. Though Venti's kit is entirely centered around his consistent use of Swirl damage, Venti is able to provide your party with 15 energy and also create a 20s updraft that *doesn't go away if Venti leaves the field* , meaning you could create the updraft and then switch to your Main DPS and deal repeated plunge attacks over and over and over- Venti quite literally turns any character into a watered down Xiao. In conclusion: Hoyoverse's main issue is that with gameplay so heavily centered around team building, they need to create characters that can bring, not more, but just enough to where a character isn't entirely built to serve ONLY themselves. (Looking at you, Yae.)
I play Qiqi with a r5 favonius and clam with Eula and Raiden...she keeps Eula immortal and I never have to worry about energy. It feels like ppl are sleeping on this combo.
@@CoolFairy111d diona provides negative dmg to the team though. A team of eula rosaria Qiqi and Raiden actually does *more* overall DPS than bringing diona.fav lance Rosaria and Raiden do more than enough battery for eula and Qiqi. Rosaria also does respectable off field dmg and so does clam set Qiqi (more so in this comp cause it can take advantage of superconduct and C6 rosaria phys shred if you have her C6 since clam bubble takes into account phys resistances and shred) so I'm very much inclined to agree with OP here that this team is incredibly overlooked . Diona only provides energy and an ok shield (which only really matters if you play serpent spine eula anyway but if you don't play SS eula then you don't care for having a shield)
@@justsomeguy727 i wasnt saying OP was wrong, i was saying qiqi is overlooked w/ eula bc diona exists and is a 4* and much easier to get cons on, but i like how qiqi has more viability now bc of clam
Don’t take this the wrong way, but a lot of your video’s arguments lean too heavily on false equivalency and personal opinion; “baking a cake,” “super smash bros,” “how characters are supposed to be played”? I understand you’re trying to explain your points but those are apples-to-oranges and straw-man arguments that undermine an otherwise well-made persuasive video
I think the biggest issue with looking for "complete packages" in a character is that the game is not designed around solo characters; it's designed around a team of four. I mention this all the time with Yoimiya, but her "lack of coverage and burst" are instantly solved with Fischl, Beidou, or Raiden. Lack of AoE? Overload procs/Beidou's chain-lightning. Lack of burst procs? Same thing. I also tend to feel that comparing anything or anyone to Ganyu, Hu Tao, or Xiao in terms of DPS is nigh unfair. The community almost unilaterally agrees that those three are broken, Ganyu probably more consistently than all of the others. MHY certainly knows this, and they probably are nervous about making characters as "complete" (or just "completely broken") as them, and that's just on the DPS side; there are other broken characters that fit different roles, like Bennett. The idea of the team making up for what one character lacks doesn't work for certain characters as well as others, though, and I'm willing to admit the inconsistency. Sure, you could run Gorou to help with Xinyan's split Def/Atk scaling, but not really sure how effective that would be. Some characters certainly do have questionable design choices, but overall, at least to some extent, the team can make up for those.
At the same time, overload reaction sends smaller enemies flying. Nice for crowd control and getting yourself some breathing room, not so nice for not-guided arrows of Yoimiya. Also for overload to have any meaningful damage, you'd have to build someone for EM, which means their own damage plummets to the ground the moment you can't do reactions or you mess up order of who triggers it.
@@bot-xk8nz "Meta" is just defined by what MHY decides to be the selling point of the week with the Abyss. I don't have Xiao, so I can't go into too much detail past the broken stuff I've seen, but for Ganyu, Sunfire Ganyu Reverse Melt teams nuke floors of the Abyss at an alarming rate. Ganyu is definitely a "broken" character, hence why she tends to be a litmus test for other characters' power. I already addressed the "Yoimiya is single-target" argument, so I'm not rehashing the same thing.
@@Panocek Idk, I've run multiple different Yoimiya teams for Overload, and usually I can just "Oonga Boonga" right through without any thought of "who is proc'ing the reaction." Been using Yoimiya since the day of her release to 36 star the Abyss, and I haven't had any issue with the reactions. Granted, I'm not trying to defend Yoimiya's power or anything. The point I'm making is that the lacking points about her that were mentioned in the video are easily fixed with other members of the team. Yoimiya was made with team synergy in mind; it doesn't seem that she was ever intended to stand on her own.
Qiqi's healing is probably meant to be some kind of life steal which is meant to be a bit risky but has a big payoff as long as you don't get hit. This does kind of make sense in terms of lore because Qiqi is a zombie after all. But yea, I get why you would think this is counterintuitive but I personally think its good to have many different ways to heal so that you can heal the way you want too.
It was also definitely how I was using Qiqi in private prior to anyone even finding out about the game. I am not fully certain even how to correctly phrase the first sentence as it was very clearly NOT NORMAL area where she was being used in as well. Considering what I was doing then and there was DIRECTLY affecting her eventually as well, I was extremely careful about what I was doing in there as well. Although considering what realistically occurred when Keyea would not proceed forward with what he was going to be talking about by interjecting with a personal statement, it might be hard to say what actually goes inside of the game behind the scenes as Mihiyo was already well aware of it occurring even before they knew they would start to make the game eventually as well.
Of course it is hard to say if the now current staff is made aware of this particular issue or not depending partly obviously on how they might individually view the particular situation as well per their own perspective as well. Mihiyo maybe only placed that particular thought in only maybe a few locations that I could at least find at the time as well.
Although given that the environment environment was definitely NOT NORMAL where I was doing it, I believe that she also mentioned something about an environment that could be used for the public release of the game as well. Mihiyo is definitely manually overriding the game as we would have had to realistically do whatever would have played out on the screen if a staff member DID NOT step in as well. Kahuza is also fully prepared for a few other situations at least to my knowledge as well. Although the correct file inserted at the time would probably more than do something else entirely as well with the page fully explaining itself as well in advance as well.
Incomplete characters is the name of the game in gachas. It's just that Genshin turns this problem up to 11. Simply due to the fact that so many passives are locked behind their constellation. Take a look at a bunch of the other popular gachas: FGO, GBF, Arknights, Azur Lane, Epic Seven, Exos Heroes, FEH, FFBE and so on. Yes, powercreep is a thing and all. But for most of these extra copies matter very little to at absolute worst moderate. Then look at Genshin. ALL the 5* LIMITED characters are heavily handicapped without several copies. Yes, even OP C0 ones like Hu Tao and Ayaka. You cannot say with a straight face that C1 Hu Tao and C2 Ayaka arent different monsters
I do agree that 5 star const can be insanely powerful and Mihoyo is no stranger to selling you a solution . However, I don't believe that all limited 5 stars are handicapped because of it. They can get significantly better with it yes but personally, I don't think all of them absolutely need it. Let's take C2 Raiden Yes C2 Raiden is a massive boost in dmg, there's no doubt about that but she still does great dmg while still bringing all the benefits of her kit without it and is still regarded as a powerful unit overall , making her perfectly strong even at a base level C1 Hu Tao is similar. While being both a great QoL and a great dmg boost in the right hands, Hu Tao is still perfectly competitive as a single target oriented dmg dealer without C1 or even Homa for that matter. It also important to note that even with C1, you'll still need to learn how to do her dash cancels if you want to optimise your dmg so which is entirely on the player. Some might argue that her C1 combos are actually harder than her C0 combos which uses jump cancels instead of sprinting. Overall, while C1 Hu Tao can very powerful, i still wouldn't call it necessary
@@Revyalator You have just explained my entire point. Yes, its not necessary. But compared to other gachas. Its like night and day. A good example among all the examples I llsted is Surtr from Arknights. When I got 1 copy of her, She's immediatley C2 Baal on the spot. With ALL the dupes combined only barely making her C3 Baal in genshin standards. Most other gachas give that character to you at 95% power. Semi-balancing the power of the almighty whales and regular F2P. Can you really say the same for any of the limited 5*s here in Genshin? No, you cant. A C6 Hu Tao, Klee, Ganyu, Zhongli and so on. Is extremely monsterously different from their C0 counterparts. It's like their not from the same game
Thank you for the great Video Vars! ^-^ And yeah there is many incomplete characters, Klee is the one I feel the most, being able to have her serve as a five star version of Xiangling would be amazing, I’m still hoping some of these problems will be adressed when level 100 becomes available with hopefully a new passive talent to go with every character, it feels like thats still a way off though but maybe for 3.0! XD
It pains me to see Razor and Xinyan so low on the list. I main them both and they are both physical dsp. But for me, I always pick the characters I want based on their personality and looks. I loved Razor, Xinyan, Barbara, and Itto. So they are going to be my main team. I’m a horrible genshin player but, I’ve made it to ar 57 so
i think the heart of the issue is the concept of buffs and nerfs and how hoyoverse doesn't do that directly with genshin instead they use really roundabout ways to nerfing or buffing a simple increase in multipliers might not solve all the issues but it would greatly mitigate it, even small changes like qiqi marking an enemy does x heals/sec and/or generates particles per 2k heal really little stuff like that would make old characters shine more
Xinyan isn't forgettable though. She's gotten an event and was there for latern rite 2 . She's also a musician and other musicians always remember musical based characters regardless. It's just in our nature to do so. So idk what you're on about here lmao
I feel like some of them could be fixed really easily by slightly changing their skillsets. For example if Razors Wolf would stay on field when you switch character, he would become a good support by making electro reactions happen.
I do disagree, but only on the basis of being a casual player. A lot of these issues mentioned are very much a meta perspective, because it's about characters being able to be used in a setting like Spiral Abyss. Qiqi needing energy in her kit, Kokomi needing to crit, etc But to a casual - and in my opinion, to a game that is seemingly built for casual players - everything else matters. I play Chongyun because he's my favourite, even if meta players discuss about his scaling being less than other claymores. I play Xinyan because it feels fun to use her Q and create a rockstar pyro field. I play Aloy because her bombs are fun to throw with Sacrificial Bow, her Rushing Ice is so easy to proc with it, AND her NA makes shooting her Cryo arrows fun. I play Thoma because not only can he be a reaction support and shielder, it's fun to trigger collapses while using NAs. Etc etc. The experience of what is intuitive is different, but I do feel that the intuitiveness discuss in the video is more about dealing the most damage, and less about if that characters are just fun. I think an example I can use is Yae Miko. Her Es are slow and 3 Es serve not a lot of purposes as they don't increase damage or anything, but man does it feel fun to move around and place them, watching enemies die while you sit and do nothing. Mkay, that's all. Great video, i think it does delve into the issues meta wise
yeah hes talking about ďmg and meta cus hes a dmg and meta player???? like duh and why would you, a casual click on a meta video and complain that its only abt meta?? i didnt care abt meta till i was ar56, and so from ar0-ar56 i ddint click on a single meta/tierlist video, okay maybe i did but i didnt complain abt it cus yknow, i didnt care abt meta so why would i care that this player thinks xxx is trash meta wise
@@dhi3897 What are you replying for? I'm not even saying that his points are null, I was just commenting that people have fun with characters, and that the concept of being incomplete is leaning more meta. These are *my thoughts on the video* . I literally even said that his video was great, I don't understamd why I'm being criticised here?
the characters are incomplete because they want to sell constellations and exclusive weapons. Raiden proved how lucrative it is to sell a C2R1 character. Old characters don't have this problem because they didn't design the characters with sales in mind. New characters are deliberately gimped so the character excels in a specific scenario (abyss rotation of the patch) but then that character becomes below average in the next rotation. they will never fix it because releasing a complete character kills future sales unless they powercreep the previous character by a long shot
"old characters don't have this problem" as C1 sucrose proceeds to fix her energy problem. As C4 xiangling fixes her burst uptime problem. As C6 fischl proceeds to be the only way fischl is ever relevant in a conversation. As Childe proceeds to have the solution to his biggest "issue" gated behind C6 . As albedo proceeds to have arbitrary split scaling that is only mended with his C2. As klee proceeds to have her sub dps capabilities locked to C4 . As Hu tao proceeds to suffer from stamina issues at c0 unless you jump cancel (lmao). As Xiao proceeds to have energy problems that are fixed with C1 . I can keep going but you get the idea by now. This shit has *always* existed in the game. Stop pretending like it's some newfound thing. Also "the character becomes below average next abyss cycle" as characters like Ayaka Raiden and Zhongli proceed to be consistently good in abyss every patch since their release. Like, your comment is covered in bias and riddled with you being unable to admit these issues always existed.
This video made 3 thoughts come to mind 1) Sometimes its hard to design a characters kit to be unique and STILL feel complete in comparison to others. 2) Some characters are complete but are still NOT played simply because they are boring (Razor and diluc prime examples). 3) Yeah, some characters feel incomplete, but what incentive do they have to fix them now? They made their money.
@@hasco_z bolide has been in the game for a long time, but has lore closely associated with Yoimiya. Yet when Yoimiya released none of her in game demos gave her bolide & it kind of felt like they forgot they originally made it for her, then released her in a way that didn't make the intention of her kit evident or polished or something like that. The point is it's kind of weird & unique & I hope it gets covered in this video lol
I think incomplete characters are fine as long as they are 4star characters. That's what the constellations are for. e. g. bennet at c0 performs differently from bennet at c1. What I don't like are incomplete 5star characters. If they intend a 5star character to do a certain role, then they must dedicate to that role and have that character's constellations either improve on that role (all of ayaka's constellations improve her dps) or switch their roles altogether (e. g. kazuha c6 provides options for him to be a carry). one example here would be xiao. he is supposed to be dps but his mechanics make him overly reliant on a shielder (so he doesn't get knocked down during his jump) and another anemo character to serve as his battery. his constellations doesn't even alleviate his drawbacks (no energy gained during Q, constant loss of hp, immunity to knockdown during jumps). another would be yoimiya. sure her constellations make her a viable dps but it doesn't remove the restriction regarding her Q where it would only be triggered by anyone BUT her. or yae miko. her kit would've been fine as support if she didn't have to recast her E or recasting her E provides a kind of buff or healing that would benefit the party but she is a clunky mess despite being a highly anticipated character.
Honestly, a character to me that feels a bit incomplete is Thoma. They made his kit like a support but it doesnt do enough to be full support, and Thoma doesnt do enough damage to be a support/sub dps hybrid. My suggestion would be to increase the duration of his elemental skill from 8 to 12 seconds to be more comparable to diona's hold e (since they have similar resistances to pyro and cryo respectively) and go one of two ways with the burst. Either go full support and have each instance of firey collapse triggering during his burst do a bit of party healing (similar to how kokomi does during her burst) or buff his overall damage and remove the 1 second cooldown on firey collapse and change it to proc each time a character uses a normal attack.
Thoma Mihiyo already mentioned, over 2 decades ago, publicly that they knew already that they knew that would not have a lot of information about his character design to make him as well. They were already well aware of his inability to vaporize himself as well. They mentioned that they were more than likely going to design him with the concepts story lore or something like that. The message is definitely a public message written by the company over 2 decades for you to manually hunt down yourself as well. I believe that Qiqi was telling Mihiyo DIRECTLY not to place her healing skill on his type of character build as well. She might have mentioned it for her own security of her own sanity as well.
Miyiho was already well aware of these kinds of secanrios possibly occurring as well other potential domains NOT MADE by them/other concepts they ONLY talked about in the message when they were required to bring up inside of the message as well at least to my knowledge as well. They were definitely way ahead of their time as well with being likely already aware of information that is only likely making sense now to the people reading their own messages what they already wrote up about the game grammatically at least as well.
Anyways the way that function as a company, unfortunately unless you SOMEHOW manually hunt down information mentioned by them; it is unlikely that you are going to even see the bigger picture here, especially because how spread out their information is regarding their content especially for information being mentioned INTENTIONALLY at certain times as well.
I feel a sense of wierd warm satisfaction that my A-Team - Jean, Klee, Fischl, and either Diona / Venti / Chongyun or Xingqiu , has exactly one character who is super popular.
I really don't like the way Mihoyo designed most of the Inazuman characters, where they purposely neuter them in one area that makes or breaks their gameplay. And I agree that they should really give more time into playtesting new characters before releasing them. Even if this'll mean slower releases.
4:00 Vars you hit the nail on the head for me. I swore I hated this game for its gameplay and the gacha, but everyone was so cool, the story was so rich, I felt myself being pulled by intrinsic value alone. My friend also loves this games characters, Mihoyo, the bastards are abusing all my human instincts of desire for my wallet
Honestly, gotta bring up the fact that "testing" isn't always helpful... Zhongli was weaker, but got pressured into being the way he is now mainly by the chinese playerbase. he was already good as is in my opinion, but the result? you already know. Xingqiu was actually stronger in beta and they weakened him. and he's still quite strong. he could have easily done permanent freeze with chongyun with no effort at all. and speaking of chonyun, he's one of the characters that was stronger in beta testing than upon release. Amber is another example of this. Even Kaeya and Lisa were stronger during beta as well. Mihoyo doesn't seem to make up their mind about how strong a character is until after launch. And even then it's not as "balanced" or "well designed" as it should be. Some cases were better compared to beta testing, but a lot of cases? Characters were better DURING beta testing. and then there's a few that get influenced by controversy. but while it's not fully mihoyo's fault, still their decision to get involved or not. cause again, Zhongli would not be used nearly as much if he had the same exact kit as he did during launch.
these characters were stronger in the beta bc they didn't know what players would do, the game wasn't even released, and kaeya is still strong... and also, mihoyo clearly doesn't care about beta feedback, and it's already known, they just do what they think when the analyse their data.
@@Gadottinho i pointed out kaeya and lisa cause of the fact that they're starting characters along with amber. plus, strong or not, these 3 tend to be overlooked quite a bit. they tend to have mechanics that are not only a bit awkward (except in some cases like kaeya's ult), but they also feel pretty incomplete without their constellations (especially Lisa's C6). could argue that all characters are incomplete w/o constellations but some characters feel like it was pretty deliberate. Like something that should have been part of their kit was instead paywalled cause you have to get dupes.
@@Gadottinho Mihiyo already mentioned somewhere online publicly, I think, that they are unable to make any changes to any character(s) because of feedback provided AFTER they get publicly acknowledged by the general public; at least based on video reviews of the character at least, as well.
Jean and Mona are supports, people will use them until the end of the game because they all do something unique. Diluc is a main dps, and in order to sell another pyro dps, Hoyo had to make her stronger than Diluc in terms of pure damage, dropping Diluc's usage by a HUGE margin. Not me, I'm loyal, yet he prefers to go for people who don't want him...
@@thesilent185 Qiqi is also a support, as is Xinyan. Being a support doesn't guarantee a character's usability or long term viability. Jean and Mona have supportive capabilities that have allowed them to remain not only relevant, but powerful and useful on a wide variety of teams. Diluc, on the other hand, is a usable, but thoroughly outclassed character.
I feel like the reason we have “incomplete” characters is bc we also have so many over-complete characters (overloaded). If you look at the top few Spiral Abyss characters (Kazuha, Bennett, Zhongli, & Raiden (etc.)), they all have so many different things they can do (and they are all absolutely bonkers at doing them).
