I graduated high school in 1998 and my parents took me to AC to see him and took me out to a great chinese restaurant - was one of the best presents I ever got! RIP mom and pop
The greatest comic who ever lived. Anyone disagree? He made 5 minutes feel like half an hour, in a good way. Please see his HBO specials if you haven't, before giving me shit.
George Carlin was the best comedian of all time. I've never seen another comedian be able to hold an audience through 100% of a myriad of shows. He was honest and down to Earth, if you don't like the swearing he typically did go watch Romper Room!
Best comedian ever! Well thought out material from a mind that was sharper than any other, a tounge to match his wit, and the delivery was always dead on. I wish he was still here, no other will ever come up with the same witticisms with the wisdom built in.
I so loved George Carlin and am so sad he is gone. I didn't think enough about what he said when I was younger even though I thought him funny then but now I get it so totally and I am pretty old....60! We miss you, George...A side note..a bunch of these famous guys always die in the city where I live, Santa Monica, and I never knew they were living here...It is nice to know they had their privacy!
I am taking the opportunity here to say "Chapeau" to the late George Carlin. A dazzling and insightful fellow who knew how to convey, while putting his ideas forth and make you laugh in the process. Mr. Carlin zealously delivered his controversial and spirited presentations without looking at notes which demonstrated a remarkable knowledge of history, cultures, and capability to memorize an enormous amount of information, facts, and stories old and recent. George Carlin was simply "one of a kind" Thanks to the Internet; we can today appreciate and value his work as he brightens up the globe with laughter. George; the world misses you and will never be the same without you!
Yes. A fine example proving his claim he could perform equally successfully without the use of "street" language which he pointed out was included in most of his work as embellishment to inject heightened reality into his sketches. No one could ever match this unique talent..
this is proof that george carlin is funny without using swear words. his expressions, his body language, and the way he uses the english language and combines these 3 things, its pure gold. make that platinum. best comedian of all time.
yes i watched the video.....after I made the comment...doh.... he brought joy to my life like no other could. laughing at ones own little erks is awesome. RIP George, love you and miss you.
When I was in elementary, My teacher gave the class an assignment and asked for us to write in our own words, and I did just that . Strangely enough, I got an F. XD
Okay, just to be a stinker...! I think it's a foreshortened form of an oath (curse) involving St. Peter. However, you're quite right, since I have no idea whether or not St. Peter has any sakes to spare. So many people bothering him at the Pearly Gates, he might be all out of sakes by now. Maybe we could rob Paul of some sakes to pay Peter? Or is that the other way around?
I like how he can talk about serious problems and make light of them/shed light on them and then pick silly things like English phrases and deconstructs them.
God I miss him!!!!! His HBO special many years ago one of his funniest stand up routines. After he finished with jokes as the credits came up or was a list of things you couldn't say even on HBO. And of course do I remember any of them no.
selling like hotcakes here in the 21st century is ''selling like the next upgrade'' and, ''that's the Last Straw'', means something else now completely. More Than Happy, I'm getting there as quick as I can
