@Andy the Malevolent what if Trump gets high on bath salts and accidentally launches a missile aiming at Texas? A self-destruct button should be a standard issue for everything imo
@@samirmuradov9585 Actually in missiles such as the titan class and tridents they do have a small chharge to detonate them it still does reusult in radiation though
Iran does not have nuclear warheads xd, here the one that is missing in the equation is Pakistan, and in this case Pakistan is the dominant country because they did not use or expend their nuclear missiles
that's assuming they launched 100% which, judging from the ballistics monitor, none of them did. and why would they? just 4-5 is enough to mess up a country for years.
With the yield of todays warheads, in theory 4-5 ballistic missiles depending on location can end up causing the earth to suffocate and or kill the majority of life as we know it on earth because of the dust clouds and debrie being scattered into the upper atmosphere at least some of the studies show that, so higher yield warheads and most of the warheads today have smaller missiles and up to 12 small warheads so it can spread further so lets say 3 of the 4-5 have smaller nukes that is then maybe 30 more nukes spread far between so the fallout is one thing the other thing is the atomic winter due to the suns rays being blocked by the debrie cloud.
No, you don't know anything about nuclear weapons for sure, that comment was worse than the video "What would happen if we detonate a nuclear warhead in the Mariana Trench"
I love how nobody is talking about how this was the most insane power play ever. Dude really used psychology to disarm the entire world's nuclear missiles.
In India prisedent don't have any authority to launch a nuclear attack , only prime minister have this power and for god name we don't have a nuclear briefcase 😂😂😂 nuclear weapons are under control military and screat agency of India and they can't use it until prime minister order nuclear attack 😂😀
@@nuclearbriefcase7259 Its a hollywood movie based on an action figure line by an american toy company, the last thing I expect is to know about our political system much less potray it accurately
Semni Istiqlal Oh they most definitely don't. Self-destruct signal would be sent over radio wave transmission, which would be extremely vulnerable to enemy radio jamming/hacking

@@nielrelatado3076 They launched, the only reason they didn't appear on the screen is because they ran out of fuel mid-flight and crashed somewhere in the pacific.
@@ravenousking9643 They do in fact now. In fact their missiles are much superior to our own since they have china and russia helping them, who both have exact blueprints to our peacekeeper missile system which we abandoned by treaty. All of our missiles are made in the 1960's using 1950's tech. NK's however are using 1990 technology and they aren't limited to treaties that mean they can only use old hardware. Not only that but NK has mobile launchers which can be driven around instead of being fixed at a single base and the whole country is stacked with thousands of miles of deep tunnels under thousands of feet of mountains. They kind of have an advantage on that and they are rapidly building more missiles every day.
I mean objectively speaking he's not wrong. North Korea does have the largest catacomb system on earth so probably would need another nuke then all the others.
for a G.I. Joe movie, there’s some legitimately good dramatic dialogue in the scene: “we can not, we will not leave a legacy of acquiescence” and “Let history record who was responsible for this madness” both good lines that you have to imagine world leaders would think this way if forced to “push the button” as a response.
MartiniGasolini a remote self destruct mechanism makes it easier for the enemy to activate, be it to neutralise them all in flight or detonate them on your own soil. Mutually assured destruction can't function with such a weakness
US President: "Well good news is no Global Warming summit next month.... Unless, one of us cared enough about his place in history to unilaterally disable his warheads.. hm, you know? in the name of the children." United Kingdom, India, France, Russia, North Korea, Israel, China: We can't disable our warheads US President: *Turns to his advisor whispering* "I thought they were able to disable them?" Advisor: "Sir they never implemented that feature for security reasons" US President: "Shit" *Fallout music begins to play*
In reality, if a large number of nuclear explosions occur in the stratosphere, electromagnetic pulses can seriously damage power transmission facilities and electronic devices on the ground.
Probably. Although I would assume that a nuclear explosion would be considerable more complicated than dynamic. Therefore the biggest problem might be raw radiative materials getting scattered throughout the atmosphere.
This scene is actually one of the more original ones Ive seen in a military fiction. Ive NEVER considered a scene where ALL the world leaders are in one room pressing the button in the briefcase at the same time!
Actually it was NOT ALL world leaders with nuclear weapons, but ONLY the countries with the MOST nuclear weapons. By this point in time several other countries had developed nuclear weapons, Brazil for example, but the 'Nuclear Eight' were the TOP nuclear nations. If I remember correctly from actual REAL WORLD facts EACH country of the 'Nuclear Eight' had enough nukes (at that time at least) to destroy ALL other countries that had developed nuclear weapons several times over.
@@nuclearbriefcase7259 also nuclear missiles dont get launched at the press of a button. President only gives the order, using a briefcase with a single push button means if someone somehow infiltrate the president house and steal briefcase can destroy all the other countries in the world. Also there is a chance if the president allows it, soldiers controlling the launch code refuse to launch the missile because they don't want to start a nuclear winter. This scene surely looks cool but is unrealistic.
2:58 Russian "launch" trigger is called "arm" 3:25 French "cancel" button is called "aborption" 5:29 Russian monitor says "Control for launch of rocket" and "CANCEL THE REST. No logic, which is always needed" Now you know my opinion about this movie.
North Korea: Umm, hey guys. Everyone else: What? North Korea: Just gonna put it out there but we don't actually have a self-destruct button so... yeah.
Abdi Ali no bro, India currently doesn't have any danger from US. So no use to target them. Instead, the nukes are targeted towards Pakistan and China which happens to be India's enemies.
Mrakodrap India is the only nuclear power which had stopped it's production and abiding the IAE rules as well as keeping peace with non nuclear states. If India wanted to be desperate like other nuke states then now we would have done tsar bomb of our own and shown it
@@tnnatesh1883 bro , maybe you should not see the resent report present in UN , India secretly produced more and more nuclear fule . and i don't think its wrong , we always been invaded by other but now its our time . we have to save our territory and our interests.

That guy who played the President from GI Joe is Jonathan Pryce. He did a great work as a villain from Tomorrow Never Dies. Pierce Brosnan saved the day as 007 James Bond.
I mean it doesn't matter at that point because Cobra commander basically has a gun pointed at the planet. Any country starts to remake nukes ends up getting decimated.

The difference here is that the US could actually pull it off, while Germany never could have and it really is a testament to how many double 6's they were rolling that they even managed to threaten just the Soviets let alone everyone else they were at war with.
@@emmanuelmateo-morales6808 Lol, you’re deluded if you think the US could pull off a war with every country. Their economy alone is based on export trade, and would collapse in days.
just as a funny side note : on the french lauch panel there is a button that's utter nonsense. It says "bras", which means "arm", as in the body part. I guess someone mistook the noun "arm" and the verb "to arm", here.
Lord Shadoko Seems so, but this is an forgivable mistake, there is no such word in russian that can be translated into "armed". The only thing it can be roughly translated into is "set into war readiness" (Приведен в боеготовность)
Naw but actually. Way back then USA were actually planning to build something like the Zeus. I forget what it was called. But due to some peace treating they couldn't.
actually there is self destruct functions on most all ballistic missiles, and North Korea most certainly does have nukes - that has been internationally recognized. But yes it is a movie
Good but, i don't think nukes have any *abort* button, just in case your communications get hacked and you know your enemy has aborted your missiles in mid air
at 3:08, you can see three buttons with Chinese description. just so you know, the one on the left says "activate" on top and "power" on the bottom the middle one says "abort" and the right one which is the one he pushes literally says "well prepared"

*Meanwhile on heaven* Churchill: What are American doing? Are they lauching nuclear missiles? Stalin: Yep, I knew this gonna happen. Churchill: Anyway, where's Roosevelt? Stalin: He said with me him went outside to playing soccer.
What always confused me about this scene is the fact that why would the other countries nuke each other wouldn’t they all just nuke America due to them all being at war with America?
Going to be honest, this was probably the biggest risk to humanity to exist... but the fact that it worked makes this a guaranteed genius play, I mean seriously this turns the world into a nuclear free existence
@Sumanoharam Jha that would be true if mass communication didn’t remove the need for needing a deterrent. If anything Ukraine proves nuclear deterrent hurts more than helps
@Sumanoharam Jha it would also be a deterrent of its own, I mean look at Russia right now and tell me they can hold out against NATO for even a week. If Russia had no nukes they wouldn’t be doing this because the last army that tried to go against the US was dismantled within a month. Combine all of NATO and it’s not even a contest
@Sumanoharam Jha didn’t take nearly as long for Russia to get slapped. Like seriously everything they now lose, use and make is irreplaceable. It’s like if Japan lost in the Philippines in their early expansion, leading to loss of all oil and other such resources they needed to make war. Russia will need to lower their equipment quality significantly to just keep the war up, not even considering the unthinkable cost of new modern equipment or even nukes, considering each one has now become irreplaceable
He's not even allied with America, he's part of fucking Cobra. Cobra hates America. How did you not catch that on a movie that literally has "G.I Joe" in the title?
Nuclear weapon is pretty much the only thing that keeps these countries from going to war with each other right now, good luck with your nuclear free world.
@@lilianchello Most dangerous weapon make peach to these day u know? If all nuclear arsenal gone world would become like world war 1 or 2 that some guy don't need to think his country can't rebuild. Gentlement, welcome to a nuclear free war... ... .. Mr President, what about the missiles and bombs fired from planes and submarines? Oh fu... [STATIC]
Those missiles are included in the self destruct. The presidents suit case (nuclear football) is the activation and kill switch of the entire arsenal. You can Google this stuff bro.
@@sanansoldier Lol there is no kill switch... if another power could hack that you'd be open to nuclear anahiliation without the option to retaliate (so it lifts the M.A.D. princiiple). Also these cases (only the US uses it) don't have a single wire in them... it's a standard leather bag containing the codes the president has to give while calling the military...
