Gilbert Arenas' critical shot in the 2005 NBA Playoffs needs a deep rewind | Wizards vs. Bulls

Long-suffering Wizards fans will remember this moment. And while I’m not about to call Bulls fans “long-suffering” the fact that this Bulls squad made it here was a triumph.
It’s game 5 of the opening round of the 2005 playoffs. The Bulls and Wizards are tied with two games each. The score is also tied, with 5 seconds left on the clock.
This moment is due to the perseverance of underdogs. Janerro Pargo? Ben Gordon? Those aren’t the most recognizable names. And while we all know Gilbert Areans’ name (because he’s great at basketball and for no other reason, certainly not for anything negative or untoward) let’s not forget he had quite a few doubters early in his career.
To realize the strength of the underdog spirit contained in this arena, we gotta rewind.

I like these obscure or forgotten moments in history. Everyone remembers what happens to the teams on route to the finals but the teams that had their run cut short had their own great moments that might get overlooked.

its interesting to note this wiz bulls series was the first win for the bulls since 98 in the playoffs aka the last time pippen mj phil were together until pippen came back to retire in 2004....against the team mj was co gm for and small partial owner and played for after title 6 with the bulls...and who owned his old team?..kwame brown lol..ironic

I started really following the NBA in 2000 when I was 11. Shaq gave Paul Pierce the nickname the truth that season when he posted a 40 point game against the Lakers on the road. That was my favorite player at that time because I was a Celtics fan (still am a Celtics fan).

Agreed, as a wizards fan, the more we faced the cavs, the more I had pure hate with them. Especially when Lebron said to Arenas, "Hey, you're going to lose anyway." I'm not sure if that's what he exactly said but he said something that made me want to have no mercy for the Cavs. But its all good, i have faith we're going to get them back in the future. :) i

One of the main reasons for the demise of the Baby Bulls was the trading away of Tyson Chandler who was up and coming to become one of the best defensive players in the league and replaced him with an old Ben Wallace who was on the decline.

This was a fun Bulls team, “The Baby Bulls” as they were known. We were competitive again. Luol Deng and Captain Kirk were just steady, and Ben Gordon could fill it up, real quick sometimes. Skiles was a good coach. Always has a good play coming out of a timeout. I remember this series well, and remember watching this team play against the Heat in the playoffs in 07’, while I was on my honeymoon. It felt like we were one piece away. Then, D Rose. The stars were aligning. It hurts to think about.

Great video guys, love it but one small critique. Since this was a game 5 I was unsure if this was just a pivitol game 5 or if this was in the first round in the era where the first round is only best of 5. A clarification would have been nice since I don't remember what all the rules were in mid 00's era basketball.
