Actually, the subtitles are just wrong. Saito does indeed say to send the feed through in Japanese.

Spoiler ahead: "Batou's brain is "natural", every cyborg has at least that. ..." I don't think that is actually the whole case. Well Batou's brain may be natural, but what about Motoka or the Tatchikoma? Ghost in the shell tried to show the possibility of brain transfer in a form "mental state". The following will be just a theory (I actually dont remember very well), but we once saw during the course of the show that Motokas head got blown off and she survived. She can control/manipulate multiple bodys after that. We also know that the internet is part of the Tatchikomas individuality programm. And that Hideo Kuze (from second gig) tried to upload the ghost of thousends of people through the internet. What I am pointing at is that I think its not about the brain in a natural form or not. It's about the existence and the creation (in the Puppeteers case) of a ghost to lead the body. That would explain why Motoka is considered a magican-class hacker. That would be a worthwile imagination .

sherbLP Well, the Tachikoma are not cyborgs, they're AI, so there's that. Motoko's abilities can be explained with an analogy: imagine Motoko's ghost hacking as a person that ventures into some kind of depth with a rope tied to its waist at one end and at a starting point on the other, their ghost is always anchored to the host natural augmented brain. You can never see a human ghost leave its body forever. If you remember ever hearing something like that it was more of the stuff of urban legends, myths, etc. (like someone's conscience getting entangled on someones brain, etc.) OR it's a rare occurrence like Motoko's ghost fusing with the Puppet Master in the versions where it exists. How many more AI+Ghost mergings happen in GITS's world? Apparently it's a once in a lifetime occurence. When Yano died, the Tachikomas asked why his ghost couldn't be loaded onto another body, and Saito explained it just wouldn't cut it. When Kuze proposed uploading the ghosts of the refugees Motoko and the Tachikoma's weren't sure it would work at all, it was just the only option they had until the Tachikoma's came up with a second way, so it ended up as an untested experiment. I'm not discussing so much that the Ghosts couldn't be hosted in a digital memory, I'm just saying it's not a thing that has been done or has ended up with unfruitful results. The closer thing we can see is Ghost Dubbing, where ghosts are copied and loaded into the memories of robots, but these copies are doomed because: 1) they were degraded and 2) they were stored into things that didn't have enough storage size. They can still come up with stories about ghosts living in robots, in completelly electronic brains, but the way everything GITS has been written, they would be rare or unique cases worth investigating.

sherbLP I'm watching Psycho Pass right now. Have you? I haven't enjoyed an anime this much in some time and if you're into GITS it should be right up your alley. Cowboy Bebop is like my second favourite anime (right after SAC) but there's nothing like it... Samurai Champloo maybe.

@@sherbLP I love the philosophical discussions and all of the (usually boring) politics and economics that we get as exposition over the course of the series..! It makes the world so believable and interesting, to the point that it might be my favourite futuristic/science fiction media.

@@AndorRadnai Well, its been round about seven years since I last watched Ghost in the Shell. Sometimes I still think about the show and it feels a bit haunting to be honest. I think I will have to "carry this weight" forever. ;-P And since then, my english skills have also improved significantly. :-D

データを逆流させることで、ラジは自分が何処から狙われているか察知し、身を護るためにサイトーを排除するか、身を隠すかの選択を強いられる。 視覚に割り込まれているため、この状況のまま任務を優先しても移動し続ける標的を外してしまう可能性が高く、またその場合はほぼ確実に発射炎から火点を特定され自分が狙撃されるのが確定する。よってこの選択も合理的とは言えない。 ラジはこの狙撃のために入念な準備をしており、標的を狙える時間は限られている事から、この狙撃を中止（任務失敗）して身を隠すというのは最終手段となるため、この状況では事実上サイトーを排除するというのが唯一の策となる。 一瞬のカットの切り替えで判りづらいが、サイトーもラジもお互いの視覚情報を見せ合いながらのスナイプ戦であり、サイトーには撃ち下ろしの有利があるものの、ラジは熱光学迷彩を使用しておりこちらの方が圧倒的に有利であるという状況も、ラジの「まずは敵狙撃手を排除」という選択を合理的なものとして補強する。 一方でサイトーはあえてラジに自分の視覚情報を与え応戦させる事で、熱光学迷彩を使用するラジを正対させ、正確な位置や姿勢をコントロールし、自分の身を危険に晒すことで熱光学迷彩によるラジの圧倒的な優位性を崩すことができた。 つまりこれはサイトー自身の技能に対する絶対の自信に加え、心理戦でもラジを圧倒したというシーンであり、SF的なモチーフをふんだんに使いつつ、たった一発で全てを片付ける狙撃手同士の戦いという極めて古典的なものを短い尺の中に盛り込んだ劇と言える。 シーンの最初から最後まで1曲のBGMを丸ごと使う演出はミュージックビデオ的でもあり、ここだけで一本の映像作品として観られるだけのおもしろさが詰まっている。 まさに名シーン。

@@user-cw7px4ut9n 後少佐とサイトーの出会い方が違いますよね、2ndGIGだと戦場だけど、ARISEだと傭兵としてですものね、でも2ndGIGではあの話は嘘だとも言っていたから確証は出来ないです。後アニメ版は原作から派生した作品ですが、ARISEは完全な原作作品となっています。

最初期の押井攻殻とSACシリーズがパラレルなのと同じ感覚でええやんな
