2024 still listening to this beautiful lady sing I’m 62 now and this music gives me a warm feeling in my heart. Thanks Gloria for all the great memories ❤
Classic ballad. They'll be playing this on RU-vid and radio stations around the world for the next 100 years and beyond : ) Mark my words. December 9th 2023.
Gloria Estefan actually wrote the lyrics and composition for every hit song and most of her songs, She is a rare talent and the most successful crossover Latin artist of all time, worth 500 million. Gorgeous Lady
What amazes me more is the musical arrangements.....absolutely gorgeous, thick, tasty guitar chord arpeggios and wonderful synthesizers and digital keyboard accents, or melody lines. Maybe her husband gets credit....but it goes deeper; I think they used some very good session players in their band in order to get recordings this good.
@@timstreitz4700 Don't know whether you're of my generation....but to live in the prime of one's life during the Gloria era was special. Had an absolute crush on this woman.....she was the epitome of sexy but wholesome at same time...and her real life story.....a family tied to the Communist Cuban Castro era and escape to America and Florida and taking the opportunity to use the free enterprise system and the greatness of USA to set a course in music industry and come out on top like she and Emilio did, wow, you have a poster child on why most of the world wants to come to the USA.....a wonderful woman and life history.
Denny Libertario I’m almost 54. I’m from Minnesota. I’ve been a huge fan since the late 80’s. I’ve been to 2 of her concerts. I’m such a fan, my wife surprised me during our wedding by having When I See you smile played during the ceremony without telling me. She is the total package. Of course today is her birthday.
@@timstreitz4700 Didn't know today was her B-Day. Must be Karma.....amazing.....I can only add my wife/I love the Estefan's resort down on East Coast of Florida.....very posh....yet very removed from crowds....and great ambience and great food/drink. Check it out.
Truly, the 70's ,80's and 90's were the best years of music. Music that stirred emotions and connections with its audience. Music that moved and held meaning beyond face value. Not that music nowadays isn't great, its just that those were the years of true music.
When you're 8/9 years old singing songs, you really don't know what you're talking about but the lyrics hit you differently once you've experienced life. This song does that to me...
My God good Lord I was so lucky to have lived the 80's. I didn't even pay much attention to it and I regret it and just dawn to me that the 80's was the bestest years of my life. I am writing this comment in the year 2017. Golly I wanted to go back so bad from 1980-1990! 2017 is good but, the 80's was great!!!!! I missed songs like this one, 80's artist were so talented in a different way. They sang without too many cursing, pure love songs that penetrate the heart, genuine, lyrics were simple and yet powerful, you can feel the emotions...................life was easy then. I can never go back, only memories i have. God it was good!!
Robert Ocampo I'm 51 I was young in the 80s. some years were better than others.now in 2018 I'm a lonely soul with no one yes I have my parents , brother and his family but I have no close friends. I'm old and you can't make friends on the internet, back in the 80s there was no internet and people talked and got to know each other. it's much different now and I don't like it.but I have to live so what can I do ?
You took the words right out of my mouth. Even my sister commented below and I just saw it now. Wow. Gosh, she and I reminisce about the 80's and the great songs from back then.
Great song and memory from Gloria Estefan Brilliant song that kicked off her music career in the 90s Released in the summer of '90 1990 was a hot summer in ireland 🇮🇪 and we had fantastic music like this Along with italia '90 Happy days Good times ⏲️ 😌
...amazing...can we talk about how NATURAL Gloria looks, here!??? ...clean skin, minimal makeup...simple white top & ripped jeans...with warm, natural sunlight in some shots.... GORGEOUS!! (#1 AC., Spring, 1990)
We got married in Spain and the Judge didn't speak English so we pledged to each other for bad and worse. 12 years later we still are in love and make sure that no matter how bad the world turns...We still have each other. TYVM
This artist inspired me so much in late 80s such a brilliant singer her and taylor dayne just magnificent nothing these days matches these gals thank you both
She is so Beautiful in this video and she embodies the perfect emotions of the song through this music video....I Really love Gloria Stefan songs very Nostalgic yet meaningful and powerful
Such a perfect song about the thoughts someone has about whether or not to get out of a relationship. I love the Latin sound that Gloria was known for, and those unique tempo changes, which go from mournful to insistent and back again as if truly to emphasize how indecisive she is. Excellent track from an amazing singer and songwriter!
I'm on a Gloria Estafan kick. So many of her songs were popular when I was growing up, like this one. Late spring/summer of 1990, and working my first job. Being 16 was a good time.
Me too!! I saw her Broadway show On Your Feet last weekend and I haven't been able to listen to anything but her songs. A lot of her songs were the soundtrack to my childhood. I miss her music.
I miss the 1980s and the 1990s great years in the 1980s Great music Great clothes Great movies and even some Great TV series I miss watching Miami Vice TV series Thanks for the Memories
Gloria is unique, how one person can be so stunningly pretty, and she still is!!!,and be so massively talented, yet remain so level headed and grounded i do not know? Drop dead gorgeous and a heart the size of the planet, we are blessed to be on the earth at the same time as a true superstar, there will never be another like her, sadly.
Totally agree , imo a match for any female vocal , but I don't think she gets the same global recognition as other artists , 275,000 views should be 275,000,000
@@J1Z06 Not everyone plays in a rock band or collects instruments bearing the name Gibson, Fender, Paul Reed Smith, etc. Why don't you explain to them what ProTools is? Or, at least link them to Rick Beato....lol. Nothing is real any more....you don't even have to be a musician....just phone and dial it in.
At that time, Gloria's music sounded like nothing else on pop radio. Her voice and musical arrangements sounded so fresh and energetic, even when she was singing slow ballads. I still associate these songs with being a 10-year-old kid, and going with my mom to the store, or seeing these videos played all the time on VH1 (especially "Coming Out of the Dark" which aired about every half-hour!), which I watched all the time in 1991-92.
Her songs were so popular while my now deceased husband and I were not even able to say good morning without a scream fest....If You LOVE someone, don't walk, turnaround and talk!! I can't.....
Haven't listened to these songs much in recent times, but great music always seems to find its way back into the playlist of our lives, doesn't it? Gorgeous lady with an even better voice, and a great band as well:)
I bought the Album Cuts both Ways back in 1989 when i was 19,i'm 49 now and still listening :-) The 80's were the best and so was the Music,Thank you Gloria
Gloria Estefan has always been my favorite singer ever since she was in the group Miami Sound Machine shes really a great singer i saw her in concert it was great
Decided to have a trip back to the 80's and found some gems I'd not heard for yearsssssss!! This is one of them. As someone on this thread mentions "Blessed are those who lived the 80's". What a voice, beautiful woman, talent in abundance.
Lyrics: It cuts both ways Our love is like a knife That cuts both ways It's driven deep into my heart each time That I realize How it cuts both ways Can't be together Cannot live apart We're heading straight into a broken heart But I can't stop (Chorus) 'Cause I feel too much to let you go I'm hurting you and it's hard I know To stay and fight for what we've got Knowing it'll never be good enough 'Cause you and I are dangerous We want too much and life ain't that way Don't ask for more Don't be a fool Haven't we already broken every rule It cuts both ways, we're in too deep for sorry alibis Can't have regrets or even question why We can't say goodbye Because it cuts both ways No more illusions of the love we make No sacrifice would ever be too great If you would just stay (Chorus) Cuts both ways Our love is like a knife that cuts both ways It's drivin' deep into my heart each time I see we livin' the lie And it cuts both ways It cuts both ways, mmm Cuts both ways Cuts both ways
I loved Gloria Estefan music back when she was very popular and of course, she is also VERY EASY on the eyes. But now, years later, I believe I under estimated her talent and beauty. I just fell in love with her again watching this video! Thank God for RU-vid!
Her music was my best friend when I was a teenager... Now she is one more year older than me, we have the same size, and the same Temperament... I love her songs til today, I laugh with her, I cried with her, I lost my first love with her songs.... Thank you Gloria for your wonderful music!
This song reminds me of the most painful/tragic part of my life. Everytime I hear this song can't help thinking what went down, until now still I don't have the answer. Its been more than a decade since it happened and I am never the same.
Let's not leave out MIAMI SOUND MACHINE. ;) LOVE Gloria but it's the BAND that wrote the music and orchestrated these beautiful songs. Her voice is a perfect match
@@robertrosario5746 Correct. There's actually a clip on You tube explaining her style of writing which I found so interesting. She writes these funny parodies and turns them into the most amazing love songs - rather funny!
