Good Friday in Bermuda is a holiday where tradition runs deep. Codfish Cakes, English Style Hot Cross Buns and flying colorful geometric homemade kites are celebrated and enjoyed. One annual event that is no longer, is flying kites on the front lawn of the Hamilton Princess. A partial victim of an ever-expanding parking lot (let’s get that underground!).
Today, there is a large kite festival at Horseshoe Bay where a competition is held for homemade kites. Enjoy a look at both locations in this clip from 1972.
The Hamilton Princess is shot across Pitts Bay Road from Rosemont Avenue and Horseshoe Bay Beach is very quiet compared to today.
