The GoPro Hero 9 & Max are the two flagship cameras from GoPro. Both are excellent at what they do and I've used both to create some pretty awesome video.
However, these are two very different cameras that have distinct strengths and weaknesses. It's important to understand the difference between the Max and Hero 9 before committing to either. Do you want a standard action camera or something that you can be a bit more creative with?

Fantastic review mate. If only the Mac had an 8 or 9k Res and gave same quality as the hero 9 in all modes eh... Btw do they take the same battery? Could be good to have both cams and a load of batteries that are interchangeable, then ur covered for any scenario

Nice video. I got the Max today, (since Samsung stopped supporting their Gear 360 camera), for the 360 capability and watch it back with my Oculus Quest. I also share this with my mum who isn't able to get about very well.

Dude, honestly in some situations the Max looked better. I think I would buy the Max over the 9 right now. Currently I just upgraded from the Hero White to the Hero 7 since it was sooooo cheap and still offers really good features. The Hero 8 doesnt seem worth it with the non-replaceable lens either. The Hero 9 looks sick still, but yeah.. I'm on the fence now. Really been digging the reframing and creative possibilities of the Max.

Hello, I have a problem with GoPro Max reframe. I follow to covert the video from gallery to media. My mobile is SamsungS5 and when I try to reframe the video always stuck to endless loading phase. Any idea for a solution? ( first thought that I have is that my mobile is old for this technology what do you think?) What mobile do you use? Thank you!

Interesting reportage. Agree with tzd, Max looks (and sounds) better. Hero 9 looks kind of anemic. How is this up and down bobbing in the vertical axis comparing Max at 360 with the hero 9 when walking? I bought the hero 9 and would like to use it mostly for hiking footage, but that bobbing is a real downfall. Should I change to a 360 degree camera?

I have the Insta One R, the One X, GoPro Max. Now I was thinking about to buy the Hero 9 but I guess there is no need for? The Horizon lock was a great gimmick i already hat with the max, in the rollercoaster videos the people on my insta channel were impressed :D

I resorted at video at gym with my Hero 9 in 5k. Once it downloaded to my iPhone 12 Pro Max you could see the pixels; not as clear as when I just use my phone. What’s the point of 5k of if it’s all pixels? Thanks!

Bro you got the labels swapped, the audio is way stronger on the hero9 while the max is quieter. I’m pretty sure same thing happened with your video testing or you got the quality turned down

4:47 Dude, the GoPRO MAX 360 (on the left side) picture quality looks far too better than GoPro9... Wasn't it supposed to be the other way around? Look at the pixels on your cheek and head and beard hair. It is so clear on GoPro max 360 Mode. Did you mistakenly give a wrong caption? It would highly appreciate your reply boss. Thanks Sir! Go tutorial thank you. I was wondering if you could help me with something else. Im going scuba diving and trying to decide on the hero 9 or the max. Provided i can find a case to take the max deep enough. Which would you choose? Seems like the max would be a cool option since id have the option during editing to view things i may not have even noticed when i was diving. But also have to option to just leave it alone. Do you know the roughly the longest video it can do before the battery dies? A complete dive would probably be an solid hour.

I have gopro max but there is one problem. I have never been able to have the Gopro Max Exporter work on my Windows 10 desktop computer. I think this camera is better for mac users. The gopro app works fine on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S4.

I prefer the max but for the 2 screens on the hero 9. I do wonder why anyone uses gopros for anything but action stuff, where it is needed. Is it possible to attach another screen to the max, like a smartphone? If so then a max with a screen for vlogging would be nice.

I am an Insta360 One R user for a week now, I am a Newby in 360, The workflow is easy and robust. With the max you receive quite a lot of already edited footage on the camera. I like to have a bit more freedom, this is why I picked the Insta360

Hi I’m having some really annoying issues trying to connect my GoPro max to my wifi network. I’ve tried everything I can think of. It seems to recognise the GoPro as a network and uses that instead of my satire wifi. I’ve tried to remove the Bluetooth and repairing. Nothing seems to work. I only just got this today and I’m starting to worry that I made a big mistake. Also the battery depletes really quick. I haven’t even been using it apart from the menu. It’s down to 30% over a few hours. Do you have any suggestion’s?

Are you sure you got the labels the correct way round? If so then the Max stomped all over the 9! One point worth mentioning is, the 9 cannot use a external mic without the media mod, the old external mic adapter DOES NOT WORK with the 9! BTW love my Max, allows me to take normal pics and turn them into something special with reframing Great comparison 👍

If you pause the video at 3:32, you can see the shadow of the camera he's using on the left side of the screen. It appears to be the same shape as the Hero and not the Max, which makes me think the side-by-side videos are labeled wrong.

@@joetucker6736 u're wrong about it, at your timecode the camera to the right is wider and the camera to the left has a square shape, which means that videos are labeled correctly

Hero9 has better quality but shot raw so the colors aren’t as appealing. You fix that while editing tho. If you look at like the signs or license plate you see the difference clearly. :)
