its 3 a.m. 27 years after........and i am going to sleep now with nothing but 500cc 2 strokes ringing through my mind.......bliss. has there ever been a better looking bike than these Marlboro Yamahas ? i think not.
Wayne is a legend, BUT... hadn't had his Assen Accident Mick should had won his first title in 1992, the 1992 Big Bang engine Nsr 500/Doohan duo was simply the best.
Kocinski was great! And Raney was a World Champion!! Looks like a good safe track! Wondering why this track is not used anymore, probably been taken down would be a guess!
Yeah....I grew up watching them battling it out on the 500cc 2 strokes machine. I grew up during their eras Lawson , Gardner , Mamola n all the way up to Rainey , Schwantz , Doohan ....and then Kocinski , Cadalora , Criville , Biaggi and V.Rossi. Now its Marques n the Spanish fleet are dominating the motorcycle racing world. May b coz there are more racing track there thus making it easy to teach the basic fundamental skill to the new younger generations.... Hmmm.....how I miss the good old days 😔
About 10 years ago, an old fan sent me a few of these because he had somehow gotten access to the raw satellite feed back in 1992 and recorded some races that way. I do have a few more of these.
This race and Wayne's last world title in 1992 was on September 6th, almost one year later to the day (September 5th, 1993), he had his horrible accident in Misano :(
