Great room sneak peek, Thanksgiving decor, wiring a chandelier so that it plugs into a wall outlet

I thought I would give you a peek into our great room, where I decided to set up table for our family's Thanksgiving meal, but first I had to move some furniture around. I also finished the Thanksgiving tree and the Thanksgiving garland over the fireplace mantel and I wanted to show you how to wire a chandelier so that it can be plugged in into the wall.
I believe fine living and happiness begins within ourselves and at home. My goal is to help you find your own version of fine living, no matter how simple or grand that may be, no matter where you live. It is so nice to see a Thanksgiving video. I loathe Christmas decor of any kind prior to Thanksgiving. I never understood the desire to rush the season. Oct is for Halloween, November is for Thanksgiving and Dec is for Christmas. They all have merit.

Love the tree! I am one of the die hard “do not decorate until after Thanksgiving” people. Your style of decorating from nature is so much more elegant and and challenging. “No one is more determined than a woman rearranging furniture by herself.” I just finished flipping our rooms for the holidays so I can extend our table for 12 chairs. I love enjoying each holiday for it's uniqueness. In the past few years Christmas has inched closer & closer toward Thanksgiving, with 2020-2021 seemingly intent on skipping Thanksgiving all together. I agree on the holidays. I stick to appreciating each holiday in its own right and blessing. I like to savor each one for what it was meant to be. To me, Thanksgiving “is” Thanksgiving, “not” Christmas. It is a time to celebrate our blessings, remember our history and our own family’s journey . I love each holiday’s individual decorations colors, seasons beauty and special foods. I love the time and reflection and the anticipation for the coming Christmas that it brings. What I like about your house is that not everything is stark white! There is lots of contrast between the rich dark woods and then lighter colors on the walls. Such a thoughtful thing to do having an early Thanksgiving. I suggested this to my mother in law and family without success. Traveling on the holiday is so dangerous and stressful and being able to create my own traditions has been difficult.

I wonder if people realize that commercialism is setting the the pace for early Christmas. Stores want to get to the big spending as soon as possible. Living in the moment allows us to savor all the good things God has given us, without any push to acquire more. Thanks for the great idea of celebrating early to lessen the rush for family members.

He had gorgeous hydrangeas in his front yard. He always picked a big box after drying them, and send them to me! Some I still have. All good memories of a sweet brother. That Fall tree is a stunner. I still love the traditional colonial decor I grew up with, but I redecorated in modern farmhouse and love that too. The Colonial theme plays especially well with me during the Winter holidays, probably because it reminds me of my childhood 🥰 SET AN EXTRA PLACE FOR ME 👍🏻

I absolutely love your channel, been a long-time subscriber and I never get tired of watching your videos. They’re always so informative, relaxing and very inspirational. I’m glad you don’t mix up the holidays too, I always wait till the day after thanksgiving to take down my fall decor and start putting up my Christmas decorations. I’m 74 and still look forward to decorating for the holidays, my friends are all doing less and less each year but I seem to be doing more and more 😂. I’ve been thrifting for the past 50 years and have some really great finds. I really appreciate your taking the time to honor the Thanksgiving holiday. Even though I realzie that the typical Thanksgiving story has been altered to gloss over the horrible things which happened to the native people, I so much enjoy this holiday with an emphasis on being thankful for the abundance in our lives. Lovely Linda! Ty for sharing. Yes, living in the moment is lovely and I need to do to stay grounded and to slow down. Appreciate you showing your Thanksgiving preparations. Your new home is starting to feel cozy and like 'home'. So happy for you. Glad you shoo-ed Willow away when spraying with paint fumes. Your kitchen/ room set up with table in center, tree, hutch and chandelier, is so beautiful. I like the arrangement of everything in both rooms. The garland over the fire place mantel as well with the naturals materials sprayed with those colors is so pretty. I'm throughly enjoying your new home with ideas and projects. A great idea to have Thanksgiving a week before. I have mine the weekend after and serve nontraditional food since everyone is tired of turkey by then. Next year, I think I will try it your way so I can enjoy Thanksgiving longer before rushing into Christmas.

I love how you’re able to use cuttings from your garden to decorate. The only item that I can forage is pine cones because my yard is filled with evergreen drought resistant plants, since I am in CA.

Sliders from Home Depot are great for moving heavy furniture and they save your floors from getting scratched. Now that, I’m 70 I use anything that, makes my life easier to clean. 😊😊

I’m so inspired by the videos you post. I love that you are keeping the New England life style alive. I am learning and applying some of your style and techniques to our home. My husband appreciates my efforts, because in the evenings he turns on all the candles and soft lighting.
