I met two wonderful people in Georgia who showed me what a strong and United Greek community can achieve. Against all odds, Hellenes have survived in Georgia for over 3,000 years, though this is a short film presentation on the modern element, namely Pontians who survived the horrors of genocide and found a safe haven in Georgia. We as Greeks have had great relations with Georgians dating back to ancient times and especially during Byzantine and Trebizond times.
In the Tsalka region, we must do more to help our Greek cousins for Greek language is on the decline. Many Greek people speak Urum, not Pontian Greek.
Drop in to Pontia Restaurant and take a moment to explore the town which is Greek.
The president of the Greek Community is different to those I usually meet. A woman and younger and her energy and enthusiasm bodes well for Greeks, but again, we the diaspora need to help in any way we can
