It’s never a good idea for an inexperienced rider to purchase an inexperienced horse. Horse and rider are a team, and at least one of you need to know what you’re doing.
Might be remembering this wrong.. My grandfather was killed by a younger horse. They bucked him backwards clean off, then he was stepped on as they tried to walk back. Can't honestly say it was anyone's fault, he knew what he was doing riding for 30+ years. Mistakes happen, and shape entire lives.
I road for the first time yesterday, I was told I did exceptionally well. I told the owners I learnd so much from drylreek ranngler school. And gave them your link. Keep making videos I learnd so much.
I love listening to you talk about horses and people, Reminds me of my grandpa 👍 He had many good horses and stories plus a world of knowledge. Thanks for your videos. When i need real i come here. 👍
I noticed the cut is very nice on that cigar. The "V" cut and the Bullet is also nice. I noticed when the cut is smaller, the more concentrated is the flavor. You have great information on smoking cigars!! Thank you Sir!!
Green on Green doesn’t always make Black & Blue. My first horse 2 1/2 year old unstarted mare that I put in 6 weeks training. I was 48 at the time. Second was an 8 year old gelding with 6 rides. Was a stallion used for breeding prior to me buying him sight unseen. I was then 50 years old. I had great mentors. Still own both and they are great trail horses. They are now 23 & 27. At my age, since I’m nearing 70, I wouldn’t do it again and it’s been a wonderful journey. I know many folks who’ve had seasoned trail horses that they just can’t get along with so, Green on Green doesn’t always make Black & Blue. Much depends on the person too.
Understanding how much you don't know and putting in the work places you on the better side of green, but some risk was still there that wouldn't have been.
@@emerald1805 in the early days, I sure had frustration. I went to some top notch clinics cause my free advice wasn’t working and I really wanted to understand the horse and have a language. Many folks don’t care as long as they can get on and steal a ride and I have friends who have done that for over 50+ years. That was never my goal as I wanted a relationship with my horse. We, the horses and I have a good relationship although anything can happen if there is way too much stimulation on any horse.
My current horse is a 20 year old very well trained gelding. I paid 3500 for him last year. I thought it was a lot but I think he's definitely worth it because he's able to take care of me as an inexperienced rider.
This man speaks truth. From my halter and saddle breaking days, he is 100% right. I was a ranch foreman and did lots of riding, I couldn't agree more. Outside of horses... It's the same exact concept with kids getting all these souped-up 600-1200cc street motorcycles and having a big old ego trip (when they should be riding a 250cc beginner motorcycle) and stuff like this gets us either dead or broke. There's definitely stages to riding! Why horses are obviously more important than krotch rockets you ask? I've seen people ego trip over an illusionary unicorn and so many people buy the wrong horses for the wrong reasons and end up neglecting the horse, it's a real thing. Do yourself a favor and get a aell trained or obviously a well experienced/broken horse... don't try to get a firecracker. Thanks Dwayne for sharing, you've changed my life Sir and more men need your guidance but, if you ever need an ambassador (RU-vid, analytics)-- I'm your guy. Though, I should be taking advice from you (which I do, and continue to)!
I definitely wouldn't call myself experienced or even really a horseback rider, I've done the tours in different places, but those horses are extremely tempered and well trained and it was nothing but pleasant.
I have a couple of points on this subject: Horse sellers lie. They leave out important information. Compounding that problem is all the people buying horses online through an auction. These sellers make these long slick videos of their horses doing everything but vacuuming the living room. Professional horse trainers can make the craziest horse look good for a video plus the videos are highly edited. People are buying horses at top dollar that they didn't go see in person, they are buying them strictly from the video and sellers description. I haven't seen this work out, not once.
Same thing happens with collectible cars. They end up with a flipper car that looked good, but may be a rust bucket underneath, along with other problems.
I am very fortunate having awesome mentors who want me to succeed cowboying and will provide a well broke horse when I am learning new skills so I can take what the veteran ranch horses show and teach me and apply it to my mare who isn't green buy ain't broke. It's an unbelievable blessing. My mare does get cranky with me, has thrown me a few times (majority on me), but we keep getting better as a team and it is one of the finest things I have ever found. I am looking forward to being able to start a green horse and help them be a useful partner.
Green on Green DOES make black and blue. I saw a guy almost killed at the Disney Camp Wilderness riding area in Florida. The day before I said “What could be safer than ridin horses at Disney”…!!! Great lesson Dwayne…!!! Keep em coming MAN..!
Green on green? Oh, yeah, that's how my left knee got torn up. I forgot what my dad told me, " In order to train a horse, you first have to know more than the horse!" My fault, I learned the hard way.
Horse-man-ship is when a horse and a human are in a relationship. A relationship should be beneficial to both parties. Green on green is a situation where neither knows how to build a beneficial relationship. Love your videos Dewayne.
Well shit, now my plans done been ruined 😂😂😂 yes sir, thankfully I got Stan an experienced horse trainer to help me train my horse because I’m green. Hopefully he can train me too.
I stopped smoking cigars after 31 years a few months ago. I smoked 1 or 2 a day so I'm not close to George Burns or David Letterman at around 20 cigars a day which i thought is crazy let alone very expensive. I see Dwayne smoking a Partagas Maduro and after seeing him smoking that cigar, I went out and specifically looking to buy that cigar. I was fortunate enough to find that cigar at Total Wine. I didn't know Partagas made that kind of cigar. I just bought it yesterday and haven't had time to smoke it yet. Can't wait!! Thank you Dwayne!! I went out and bought the Partagas Black Lable.
Dewayne, Wanted to recommend the Brick House natural in the smaller vitola. Smokes like a Connecticut, but has the flavors of something with a bit more punch.
I'm learning that with goats. Three of them were raised for the first two months of their lives before I got them as pets. One wasn't. He was just raised in pasture. Although he lets me cuddle him I'm pretty sure he'll always be wild. Looking to re-home him at this point.
I can’t help but think about how many people bought a four-speed manual transmission automobile and they never drove one before but they bought it because it was cheaper than the automatic and they figured they could just figure it out until they crash because they forgot to push in the clutch nothing common about common sense when it comes to people that are cheap sometimes you got a learn the hard way always appreciate your channel and you sharing your wisdom and for the smart folks your words won’t fall on deaf ears
I have a mustang who has had about 8 months under a trainer. Now he and I are starting over to fix some holes. I've ridden all my life but a nasty wreck, and middle age made my confidence green. So we are going slow.
I've learned a few things with 50+ years of horses. While nobody sets out to buy an ugly horse, you can't ride one just because it's pretty but it can be a pasture ornament. Beginner riders, kids or adults, all I care about is safe. The expression one hoof in the grave comes to mind. A been there, done that horse that probably needs maintenance to stay serviceably sound. These horses are worth their weight in gold. I've got a mare for grandkids that's 34 and awesome. I paid $1200 for her when she was 30. Just like pretty, you can't ride a set of papers. When you can ride the horse safely and it fits the purpose you bought for, papers don't matter much outside breeding or breed specific shows. I've got friends who only look at horses of specific colors and/or specific papers...to trail ride monthly. My current favorite is the Yellowstone factor. Same thing occurred when lonesome dove came out. Everybody wants to be a cowboy with a ranch broke horse. Trouble is, they're not ranching lol. They buy a horse that works 6-7 days a week, turned out on pasture, then wonder why they can't ride him on Saturday after a week in barn eating sweet feed and alfalfa. 😂
If you read this, would love to hear you opinion on: what would lead to a more fulfilling and successful life? Gratitude and enthusiasm or ambition and discipline?
There are way two many people that think they are experienced riders but are not. It takes more than just sitting in the saddle, it helps if you know more than your horse. Just saying.
I can see your point of view. However I work as a car painter and we have a similar problem. Should your first paint gun be the best you can afford or should you start with a budget one. Great car painter should be able to paint car with a bad gun, so if you learn how to paint using budget gun, it means that you are a great car painter. High quality gun could hide your lack of experience. That's why a lots of people in our community recommend starting your journey with a cheap gun and gradually upraging it as your skills improve.I agree with you though, we should not be stingy with stuff like this
I also work in the automotive field and I'm sorry but in my opinion, you are wrong. I always teach the newbies that if you work with cheap equipment/tools, you may reach a point where the equipment will set the tone and quality of your work, you will not be able to improve and you will think that this is the highest level you are capable of reaching. However, if they start with good, professional equipment (doesn't have to be new, but from a good, high-quality manufacturer), the equipment will help them improve rather be an obstacle .
@@user-jn6jm4bb6fYeach, maybe you are right. Equipment should help you, instead of dragging you down, and stopping your progress, because of low quality
@@DryCreekWranglerSchoolI agree with you, that's why i love this job. There are jobs where you could make a lethal mistake, like a car mechanic, but in my business the worst mistake I can make is matching wrong color.
People who try to keep you down or try to change your mind and make you be somebody you're not working for Satan that's all they are and I understand totally 100% people trying to talk crap about you somebody that really knows what they're talking about I understand what you say
I agree with you on the religion part I believe how people can put words in your mouth and not tell the truth they do it to me all the time I don't hate any different movie I don't care what they do I will not put up the people lying either I was raised like that I was raised not to hate any other religion nobody needs to know what religion I am but people lie about me all the time and I'm tired of it we talk dirty about me and other people because we're not the same religion is done it doesn't matter to me the simple minded people is all they are simple-minded don't let it bother anybody don't let it bother you you're right it's drama and nobody knows how to stop drama except for me because I know how to not want to bother me cuz I don't care what anybody says all I know is Jesus is our savior he died on the cross to forgive our sins and we work our butt off and everybody else tries to lie and just see and tell Fox News and try to make you believe something they believe I feel you're a good man keep up the faith and I'll listen to your channel anytime want tonot please forgive us the word of God I think it's awesome that somebody's actually standing up for herself thank you very much cowboy 🙏🙏🙏
Not necessarily. Although I think its bad if you subscribe to one philosophy. There's a time and place for everything. A time to be stoic and a time not to be.
I think sometimes stoicism brings out truth in some situations. I don’t agree with everything he says but George Carlin was a huge stoic and he brought up honest and thought provoking opinions about people and the situation most people live in. Just my two cents.
In the beginning God created Heaven and Earth. He created humans too to have a relationship with Him. That's our purpose as humans that have a relationship with God. Sin, however, messed that up because it made us imperfect and imperfect creatures cannot have a relationship with a perfect and holy God. That's why we so oftentimes feel empty, unsatisfied and unaccomplished because we're not in relationship with the God we were created to be in a relationship with. But that's where Jesus comes in. Jesus is God's son and He came down to earth in human form to live the same life we do yet unlike us He never sinned. Jesus is perfect. Yet despite the fact He is perfect He died on the cross for our sins and sacrifice Himself for us. The punishment for our sins is death but because Jesus took that punishment for us if we put our faith in Him and receive Him as Lord and savior we can be reconciled to God and be restored to that relationship we were created to have. And we can be sure that Jesus is the Son of God because on the 3rd day God raised Him from the dead and in that He defeated death and the grave, proving that He can do the same for us if we put our faith in trust in Him. That's how you get to Heaven. That's how you become full in your heart. That's how you become reconciled to the God who created you.
