Depending on how strong your hands and fingers are you can benefit from the tips in this video.
Online lesson are now a possibility on Skillest: skillest.com/app/profile/marc...
Let me help you get an effortless golfswing with speed and accuracy. I call it the circle of speed. A good release will help you to a better impact and longer drives and irons without slice and hook. How to swing a golf club need to be adjusted to your skill level and experience.
Long and straight is the goal for everyone but it takes time. Try to focus on one thing not everything when you practise. Impact, face control and swingpath will always be the most important part to drill. We focus too much on rotation but no good golf shot will be executed just by rotating.
I’m naturally right handed but all my tips works for both left handed and right handed golfers.
We also need to understand that many myths in golf are misleading. Everything that you find on the internet isn’t true. Ben Hogan, Sam Snead are two of the legends that are often misunderstood.
We shall not keep our head still, only start with the hips, look only at the ball or keep the left or right arm straight.
If you use callaway, ping, titleist or taylor made clubs doesn’t matter you can learn to hit good golf shots. Your loft or your shaft on the club will not change but you can always get better.
Find what inspires you. Golf basics are the same for everyone. The pga tour, longdrivers or other good golfers can all help you find better golf shots. Watch what they do instead of listed to what they say. Listen mostly to your body and figure out what you need to do to produce the same results as the pros on TV. Be careful when you watch a golf swing in slow motion. The result isn't always what the golfer is trying to do. Feel and real are seldom the same.
Mike Malaska, Mike Austin, Mike Dunaway, Pete Cowen and Steve Pratt are some of my favorite golf instructors online. Find the tips that make your golf better. Decide what you want to hit. I teach a draw but many like a fade and nobody likes a hook or slice.
Your hips or your lag is not the key to golf. Your hands will decide the shot and you can do like Tiger Woods and trust your hands. Teach your hands to hit different shots. Hit big hooks and slices to understand what happens. Only straight is not gonna teach you anything.
Bryson Dechambeu and Kyle Birkshire can inspire you to hit it longer. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson can give you inspiration and motivation to test new things and new golf shots. Linn Grant, Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg can show you the future of golf.
The Masters, Players Championship, The Players, The Open and US Open can make you love golf even more. See the best in the world solve all the problems we all need to master any golf course. Golf is a craft and you need fantasy, feel and skills to master it.

I have been a struggling 15-16 handicap for years. 44 years old. I have been looking for a way to break through my plateau. I have always been able to hit the ball pretty far (280-300 yds)compared to most people I played with but my inconsistencies and overthinking never allowed me to be my best. After trying dozens of different RU-vid “instructors” over the years nothing seemed to work. “Game improvement” clubs as well. 3 weeks ago I shot a 105 and I was at a loss for words and ready to give up. I fortunately found your channel 10 days ago. In that time, i have been able to focus on one swing thought which is to swing down and out. I also purchased a very inexpensive set of blade because i want to make it hard so that i can get better! After just a week of implementing your instructions, Today I took those blades and your teachings to the course. I shot an 83!!!! Lowest I have shot in many years! The future is bright again…. Thank you Marcus!!!! Stays strong … I wish you the best!

At 70+ and after years of physical work, my hands are crippled. As an alternative to your suggestions, I installed jumbo grips on all of my clubs. This helps me, but as you rightly say, it won't help everyone. Thanks Marcus, excellent video again. Christophe.

Oddly enough, I have recently been experimenting with spacing my trail hand lower on the shaft. I even tried increasing the distance between my hands so that there was a gap between them. I found that I gained control, and my backswing seemed to improve. Surprisingly, I did not lose much distance. Having said that, I am a senior and my distance with all clubs is modest.

Interesting! Maybe you have found the feeling you need to later on bring in to your "normal" grip. Great job.

Thanks for this Marcus! You've confirmed what I have "found" by following your philosophy for a few months now. Finding a solution to MY problems. I have gone to a 10 finger grip and slightly in the palm. I don't have a lot of strength in my hands and have found that this grip has given me more consistent strikes and a draw but not much extra distance. Working for me. My friends keep asking "where has this draw come from?". Works for me where I play as it's a course you have to plan your way around. Fairways and greens have come from following your system. Thanks as always

I use a baseball grip, small hands, have done since i started playing, felt natural but hold in the fingers. Back in the 90s had a couple of lessons pro tried to change it, never felt in control of the club. I don't think there's one grip for everyone, experiment what works for one personally

Thanks. I've been experimenting with the baseball grip, and it definitely feels more powerful, but yeah it might not be as fast. I have trouble slicing my driver, though, and the baseball grip might help getting the club around. I have to wait until the driving ranges open up again to try it with a driver though.
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad

Find your timing with the driver. If you release it early enough from a decent swing path you will stop your slice. Keep going.

I found a broken iron on the course with no clubhead a few weeks ago and when the weather has been too bad to get out have been swinging that for practice. I found I can swing it quite fast (getting a swishing noise) with either my lead or trail hand alone (and in both directions), but when I use both hands I struggle to get a nice swishing noise, so in other words my normal swing is quite slow. Until recently, I used a 10-finger grip in my fingers but have now changed to an overlapping grip as I seem to be able to get a bit more speed. I guess I need to develop my scooping speed with more flexible wrists. I'm probably paying the price of 40 years of hands too far forward at impact and hanging onto the lag.
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad

With a shaft alone almost every golfers are faster one handed. That's why we need on fast hand and one slow hand to get the same whip with two hands. Keep trying. 💪

Hi Marcus! You're a great coach, with your philosophy of swing i'm improving my speed day by day.. just a request: can u teach us a drill for the circle of speed with a long stick gripped not in the extremity? I hope that the end part of it, from the grip toward the body can help me to undestand the hands action. Thanks!!!!

Yes, yes, yes.... finally a guide that makes sense! Some questions.. 1) Do you ever use a larger size grip 2) when teeing off with an iron should you use a tee 3) why not use irons all the same length Thx. Paul Buxton
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 5 месяцев назад
Hi Paul. I will try to answer your questions. 1. Tried larger grips but don't like the feeling. Only kept it on my putter. 2. I never use a tee with irons but if you keep it short I think it's ok. Watch this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uNkC8occhQI.htmlsi=PJvcosYBGVLKnDv1 3. If all clubs were the same in length including woods I would consider one length clubs. As long as we still need to adapt to woods I think the idea is only half good. I also loose feel when I try a wedge that is long as a 7-iron. Thanks for your questions. 👍

Hi Marcus been combing through your videos looking for one that talks about what I should feel in my body hands arms …I heard Johnny miller once describe it as putting a heavy blow on the ball . Kind of like a wrecking ball …Should we make the club feel heavy …and heave it away …And deliver it the same way as fast as we can through the ball. I did that yesterday it worked .Now I’m wondering is that just something like so many other fixes that seem to disappear a day later. I guess my question is what are you feeling in your hands arms and body .that can’t be seen in video …Thanks for your work.
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 4 месяца назад
My friend, feelings are personal. Every golfer I meet feel this move differently and I think it can feel different day by day sometimes but the move is the same. Myself I don't feel a heavy blow, rather a fast slap with speed.

Hello Marcus, this is not a comment, more of a question... When it comes to landing the club (low point control of irons,) do you teach which hand is reponsible for this i.e. lead hand or trail hand - or both hands... My interpretation of the pushing action you teach, suggests to me that it would naturally be the trail hand - but I could be wrong. Do you have a video on this very subject, or if not, could you maybe do one..? Thanks again, Christophe

It seems like working with the variables you mentioned might be an effective way of establishing distance control. Please let me know what you think - including other options that you employ. Also, do you have a video that can help me get the most our of practicing with a net? My main concern it that I can't see the flight of the ball. So, I've been focusing on simply making solid center contact. But, I worry about where the ball is going to go once I get out in the open and have to hit it at a real target.
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 2 месяца назад
I wouldn't recommend you to change the grip for different distances if that is what you mean. I like to see one grip for all shots if you're not a tour pro. I've used the same grip for 20 years and I'm not changing it. It screws up the relationship between me and the club. Regarding net training. It's really good for impact, speed and swing path training but not so good for face control unless you use a monitor. Any of these drills will work great with a net: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hWF_jWKkXTM.htmlsi=wJqBlNvtnk4xv0IZ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FSnGgkVDEIY.htmlsi=ukRtsGyLKhtb2U_j ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4x1PGC59Oko.htmlsi=e6bLdP3w0IwcRO1a
