Hi Friends!
It was another warm and beautiful day here in Edmonton, AB so we thought we would sit on the patio and share all the yarny stuff with you. Summer is so beautiful, but you will see that we are all about the hats right now. Are you with us? We love them for the quick and fun satisfying knit that they are, as well as pretty much the perfect gift. Are you working on any holiday gifts yet? We definitely are!!
see you next week,
love,
Tracie & Jodi xoxo

One of the things I love about you girls, is how irreverent you are. There are no taboo subjects and you go from 0 to 60 in one second flat. You go from hilarious to cold, stone seious with no notice that there's a subject change a' comin'. I watch every minute from your first good morning to your last goodby. I don't miss an episode. Plus, I learn so much.. Here's a heartfelt thank you for all you do. Don't underestimate the impact you have on us out here in You Tube land. Sending tons of hugs to you both. I love you and your channel.

I am a biologist/chemist...The problem is that you are being led to believe that masks protect you from this virus. They can't. Viruses are too tiny...they fit right through even an N95 mask. Why we are being told this, I don't know...

A man with Cistic Fibrosis was interviewed on CBC News saying he would almost certainly not survive if he contracted COVID-19...and even he could handle mask wearing. (My first husband had CF too, and it greatly effects your lungs.) This man really touched my heart... and has also left almost all of us with no excuse.

Dear Grocery Girls, as someone who tuned into this live, the tech issues were annoying but I think we all thoroughly enjoy the personal aspect of live podcasts. Your current format is also great because anyone who can’t make it to the live show or has tech issues has the benefit of watching the recording when you post it to your RU-vid. It’s honestly the best of both worlds!! I hope you are both doing fabulous! Stay safe, much love!! -Matty

Loved the "fancy" yarn talk. One thing that people don't maybe realize is that indie dyers don't have the marketing budget that the big companies do. If it wasn't for you, I would have missed out on so much stash love. Thank you!!

The collaboration between pattern designers and yarn companies is understandable. And the discussion on yarn substitution is appreciated. And I know we are dragging Jodi kicking to try and get her to add projects to Ravelry, but that's where the platform shines. I go to projects and then the YARN tab. Others have already done the work for you and sometimes they even have comments about the substitutions. A prime example is Andrea Mowry's Nightshift shawl. Many of us used the Noro and they ARE BEAUTIFUL. I bought the Noro on sale and probably saved spending more than 50% on the cost of the recommended yarn. Many people destash a yarn like Noro too! I've bought lots through Ravelry.

I have been knitting a whole hat family to go with my slipped rip hat by Jodi. I'm knitting slipped rib hats for the ladies in the my family in matching mohair with different MCs. And I'm knitting Purl Soho's mock cable columns hats for the boys. Loving the patterns and the yarns. With my quarantine boredom, I needed some quicker projects with great colors and fibers. Totally feeling the hat parade!

Thank you, Jody and Tracie! I have had ups and downs in my purchasing ability. There is NO room for “Yarn Shaming” in our wonderful community. I have knitted sweaters, shawls and other things in acrylic (for grandkids whose sweaters were going into the wash), friends (who loved wool and caring for it), extended family members (who are kind and will also likely wash by hand) and the husband (for whom I wash by hand)! I loved knitting every single item- and hope to knit an acrylic item soon for new furniture coming in Fall:) Thanks for pointing this out!!

Hysterical that you guys get heat warnings at 85 degrees when we here in Surprise Arizona get "It's cooler todays at 104... 107 expected in a few days... 116 last week...
@Susie98052
@Susie98052 3 года назад
Well, in surprise AZ, they're used to those warmer temps; plus, have you experienced non-Arizona heat? There's this thing called humidity that really wreaks havoc. Living in ND, we run the gamut - high temps and high humidity, and also high temps low humidity. There have been 110 degree days with low humidity that are more comfortable than 80's with 20% humidity
@Amethyst1919
@Amethyst1919 3 года назад
@@Susie98052 Grew up in Minnesota and live for a while in Maryland, so, yes, I get the humidity angle. As for "being used "to the heat? I've lived here for 27 years and have never gotten used to it. It also happens to be our monsoon season so lots of storms and , you guessed it, high humidity. I have actually roasted a pot roast on the dashboard of my car throughout a workday when it was 124 out. I just think it's funny that they actually get warnings and high heat alerts for temps in the mid 80's.
@xiibu
@xiibu 3 года назад
Those ten degrees totally make a noticeable difference! 105 isn't bad if you're standing under shade. On the flip side, Canadians talk about -5 degrees like its nothing, but I can't fathom anything colder than 30f.. brrr. Stay hydrated!
@Amethyst1919
@Amethyst1919 3 года назад
@@xiibu Opening your door to 105 is like opening a blast furnace... I still miss Minnesota winters and I haven't been there in 35 years... I've often said that I'm a Canadian trapped in a American's body... should have been born in the Yukon.

Loved my Saturday evening with you again. I caught the end live on Thursday, but I generally don’t have time to just enjoy the whole podcast live. Saturday is ‘my’ night and I always feel you’ve dropped by to spend some Knit time with me. 💛 You are both so tolerant and accepting, I’m glad you speak up about masks, and race, and Pride, and knitting with what your budget allows. I feel that some people have forgotten the old saying....if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything! And people that criticize perhaps should not watch, I’m guessing they control what they watch....and most devices have an off button. You don’t ever need to apologize for being yourselves. That is what I love about you both 💛. Also, I am confused by the criticism of Ravelry....I just set mine to the old format, and the bright screen/new format is not an issue. I love having all my patterns in the library, easy to access; and I love looking at project pages for suggestions, substitutions, modifications, etc. I look forward to every podcast. 😍

I use indie dyed yarn and I use acrylic....each project has it’s own yarn needs.....knit with what you have access to and have fun! my hubby really likes to try different kinds of wiskeys. whiskey drinkers can be very snobbish about a "good" whiskey is and isnt. Hubby follows a RU-vid channel where they taste and talk about different whiskeys at different price points and one of the things that they end every video is "remember, the best whiskey is the kind you think tastes good". i feel that way about yarn. I am not going to make baby stuff out of silk blends nor can i afford to buy indie yarn for every sweater that i make. wish i could but I cant. I can find Regia yarn at my LYS for $5. I know not every area can find Regia for that cheap but I can and I have made several sweaters out of Regia.
