Thank you a million times over. I was raised up in the States, but a born guyanese, this was not one of my favorite things to make, many time I've made Frisbee's 😂, but it was trial-and-error. 😢I used to call my grandmother, and she would walk me through these recipes. She has Dementia and it's kind of disappointing because that's where we bond the most, but anyhow, your recipes and technique were simple and effective. I'm so proud of myself 😂 I did it, and it came out fricking perfect. It's a bitter sweet moment. I can't thank you enough. ❤
Gosh u made tears 😭 come to my eyes it’s feedbacks and comments like these that keep me going I’m truly blessed to share the knowledge and have others enjoy the recipes I’m so proud of you and I’m sure grandma will be too roti and dhal puri making takes practice and patience over time u will be a pro at it my love keep cooking stay blessed 😘😘
As a white woman married to a Guyanese man I can tell you, I hesitated to watch a tutorial, as I have a whole Guyanese family to ask, no woman in there can explain it they just do it lol, this is the EXACT tutorial I envisioned in my head very specific yet simple, I do have a question, does it matter what type of flour ? As in All purpose, bread flour ?
So happy to read your comment I wanted this recipe to be very easy so anyone can follow , I would only recommend using all purpose flour here is why Bread flour has more protein than AP flour, somewhere between 11 and 14 percent, because it is made from a harder wheat berry. It's ideal for chewy or dense baked goods like bagels, but it's not great for light and fluffy things like pancakes and roti happy cooking love
Does it make a difference that your a white woman? I thought it was about learning the process. Color makes no difference. Do de ting. And leave out de color.
Thank you for this tutorial, I am black British and I love Roti, I have wanted to learn to make for ages. I watched your video and made and it was so easy to follow. I can say I made some beautiful Roti’s after watching. Thank you.

This is the best roti tutorial I have watched! Thank you so very much for your attention to detail. I’ve been trying for years to get the perfect recipe and I’ve finally found it.

Hello Ash, I took early retirement so I have all the time in the world to try your recipes. You make everything look so simple and exciting to make. First I have to try your roti.
Ash, I only come across your video today and have already subscribed. I truly enjoyed watching it and most of all, I Iove that you DON'T show off as many others do. I also love your simple way when folding to form the layers; I'll surely try that the next time I'm making Parathas. Thank you Ash for sharing your knowledge worldwide; may God bless you and your dear son 🙏🌹 Btw, Justin did a great job behind the camera but in front of it he's shy! A very handsome and attractive young man, with a winning smile 😊
Awe thanks so much for your kind and thoughtful words we appreciate your love and support thanks for subscribing, lol 😂 he is very shy in front of the camera 🎥 I'm trying to get him out of his shell
@@cookingwithash Please tell him don't be shy to show himself; we love seeing him! He's very handsome and with that million-dollar smile, all the young girls would be falling for him 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fantastic tutorial,I was not kneading my dough long enough, so I learned something new, also love your technique of making a log and breaking it individually, time saver and a roti hack👏 thanks again!
Ash, awesome classic Guyanese oil roti recipe. It’s perfect with curry but I will have it with dhal. Dhal and roti with a hot cup of black coffee. Happy Saturday 🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾
Ma'am, I am 72 years old and have had Guyanese co workers and friends and now my grand nephew and grand niece have married into nice Guyanese families, I was fascinated by your video. Thank you. You are not only pleasant but a good teacher too. I will try abd get back to you for sure . 😊😊😊😊
Yes I love when she throws in the Guyanese talk. I made roti already, but never roll out the whole dough one time and then divide it. I like that part. I'll try it that way.
Steve again....love the concept of rolling it out and then rolling it into a log, so much better than doing it individually...thanks for the great tip ❤
I lived in Guyana about 20 years ago, ive been searching for a recipe for the roti i remember, but other recipes don't clap it. I'm so glad i found you! Your accent is bringing me back! Such amazing people, and the food was delicious - i also remember cooking the casava bread on a pan and then finishing it on the roof.
I am gonna definitely try this recipe I believe that there was enough information for me to make it as good...before when I make it it's a hit or miss ..one of my favorite foods...I also like that idea of rolling out the whole dough then oil and fold it back...this was a very informative video for me...thanks a million..you also gained a new follower 😊
