im a woman but agree that there is value in this introspection. Like it was said, we're constantly taking in all these inputs, going through the motions, that we might turn around and realize that wasnt the path we wanted. Filtering out and exploring the different inputs, analyzing what the outcome would be, and see if that rings true to what we want to achieve for ourselves. Oh yeah absolutely, I'd imagine this is equally true for women. In fact women are even more influenced by peer groups and more tuned in to (and potentially influenced by sooner) social changings/currents/norms/fashions, etc, than men are. On the flip side, I believe that in general the need to talk and the need for social interaction is greater in women... But I still think everybody can benefit from stepping back from society and stepping away and out of their social circles for a while so that they can actually come to realise how much influence they were under.

Regardless if they are marriage material or not, the institution itself is a family meat grinder that’s built to incentivize women to rely on Daddy Government and not the family. @@Aisatsana1971, I've been fascinated by fish since I was a wee one. Growing up, my family watched all the David Attenborough documentaries, and in each presentation of some facet of the natural world, the narrator would make it clear that ecosystems were under threat. Human beings have been affecting the flora and fauna of this planet since the pleistocene at least, but the rate at which natural resources have been used and abused in the past few thousand years has us in the middle of a mass extinction. Ecosystems are collapsing, and as someone who studied this for 4 and a half years in an academic setting, I could see it happening in the field. I specialized in fisheries management after briefly working in forestry. Moved to Alaska because I thought it was the best place for salmon to make a last stand, on the tallest rampart. Worked for a non profit organization that had salmon habitat protection as one of three parts of their mission. It was extremely corrupt, and when I began doing volunteer work advocating for salmon habitat protection, I took death threats until I was forced to quit my job and was effectively run out of town. Next, I went to work for a government agency that managed salmon populations in AK. It was also corrupt as hell, and dysfunctional to boot. Working in my field was hell. It took years off my life, wasted most of my 20's, and paid poverty wages. Instead of getting a degree in a natural resource field, I should have gotten my CDL and went to the N. Slope to drill for oil. The civilized world dosen't appreciate or deserve salmon. The disappearance of beautiful things from the world is a form of justice. That's why I don't give a damn about the dumpster fire we call the world. Got too invested before, and got burned. I'm way happier now.

@@grahambriley2619 that’s incredible interesting and sounds like quite the adventure to learn a hard hitting lesson, thank you for sharing. I am concerned that you seem to insinuate that it is human beings “as a whole” who don’t care about the world. As if the general consensus for humans is that it is okay to destroy nature for profit. I understand that in this particular field, you were exposed to corruption, and people who would hurl insults at you for their disagreements, but do you think this is due to an underline apathy for nature? To me, it seems like short sightedness, ignorance and greed. I find that the average person does care about nature, and wishes for her to be preserved, but we are exploited heavily and have people fuelling the machine through their blinded allegiance to pseudo-intellectual ideas rapidly spread through the media.

Happens to women too. It's called a quarter life crisis. I'm 25, make a good amount of money. Went to college, got a good job, bought a house, bought a car. I realized a year ago that I hate what I do, and, I don't want to say it was the wrong thing to do, I just spent this time doing the things my parents and society thought I should do rather than pursue what I desire. Thing is that I knew I hated my job as soon as I started my internship in school. I just stuck with it because I thought it was what I SHOULD do. I wasn't presented with any other options, I was blind to anything else. So I've started taking the necessary steps towards accomplishing goals towards where I believe I should be for my benefit. Right now, I work 8 hours per day staring at a computer screen. Not at all healthy being stagnant for 8 hours like that. I've been studying to be an aircraft mechanic for the past year. Everything is going well so far. It is way more interesting than what I do now. I plan on buying land and building a house and then renting out the house I have now. A good amount of land where I can stretch out and breathe a little.

I turned 29 this year and this is exactly what I've been doing past 5 years intuitionally. Somewhere around 24 years I just felt this urge that there's something I need to say, but not to other people and I started practising journaling. It was awkward at first, but with time it became easier. I always thought it was that I became a father around that time, but maybe it's more about maturing to adult. Neuroscience backs it up a little bit that the brain develops approx about 25 years of age. I think that is good time to really take that deep meditative state once in a while to go all your childhood experiences and maybe go even further in history (parents relationships and their childhood experiences, cultural development etc.) if possible. Then reflect on all that and see the person you grew out to become because of those things, and then possibly make finally a conscious decision which sort of path you want to take. Before 30 years many of our motiviations can be based on our unconscious needs as much we like to think otherwise. The more I keep journal the better my vision have gotten and many times still I realize that something I want or desire, comes from a different time/place/emotion, but I can wait on it to pass, and then get back to what I really want to focus on.
