I'm currently an advertising major in a good journalism school, and the death of print media, and large media outlets such as the new york times, and the wsj, is discussed in every class. Print media has been waging war against TV, for years, and basically any medium that cuts into their profits. We must bear in mind, that the original main stream media was print, and later radio. Radio is not in danger to the same extent, though it still is, but readership of these large publications has massively decreased with the advent and rise of alternative media sources, like youtube. It stands to reason that the less content provided by youtube, because there's less money in it, would have a positive effect on their readership. It also stands to reason that the WSJ would benefit from the demise of youtube, and would be naive to assume that they would not at minimum do anything to stop this occuring. However, this same truth can be applied to youtube and it's creators, Ethan Klein also has a monetary stake in youtube, and the diminishing of print media would also generate more traffic towards his own platform. As such, in the era of spin, we must hold both the WSJ and RU-vidrs, to the same standard. Ethan has provided further evidence to be used to delegitimize youtube creators, and it was irresponsible and arrogant for him to have a knee jerk reaction like this, and release a video without giving it more thought. I'm not saying he didn't put a lot of thought into this video, I'm saying his own agenda is clouding his decision making just as WSJs did in their pewdiepie piece.

I can really respect that h3h3 owned up and removed the video. However, he still took part in shoddy detective work and jumped the gun for a quick scoop. That's exactly the kind of journalism he accused the WSJ of. I think both sides are fighting a proxy tug of war, and it's just looking bad for them all.

Why is everyone ignoring the fact that the images the WSJ posted had the same exact number of views, likes, and dislikes. Its not %100 proof that they were faked but literally its like they copy pasted them and is a very good reason to discredit them.

As someone that has always had a negative view on wrestling, walking the line of 'It is fake' (Not easy, I always understood there is athleticism there). Having a wholesome channel isn't going to save you through the bullshit that is going on with youtube right now. A few of the youtubers I watch that are very kid friendly are suffering now. I know GenerikB has had videos demonetized, Bdoubleo100 has talked about possibly having to go back to a normal job. Essentially at this point no youtuber is safe and it's sad because 90% of everything I watch is on youtube.

Hey guys, just wanna say I'm a massive fan of the channel, you're my favorite RU-vid channel by far and away, and I watch nearly every bit of content you guys put out. Okay, now that I'm done kissing your buttholes, I just wanted to voice some minor criticism: as someone who looks forward to the Soup podcast every week, I'm really hoping that for you next podcast you could change it up and break away from RU-vid or social media as the topic of choice. Aside from the Zelda podcast, it feels like every podcast you guys have done for a WHILE now has focused on RU-vid or social media. I get it, I know RU-vid and Twitch and whatnot are incredibly important as that is the proprietary vessel to which content creators like you guys can share your content. But the last few weeks it seems like you guys have been focusing so much on the content CREATORS themselves, and not on the actual content itself. This has been a great year for games so far, and I feel like this podcast has spent barely any time talking about it. Oh well, I'm done bitching, I hope you guys just take this as the perspective of minor criticsm from a dedicarted fan, not someone trying to shit on what you do. I love what you guys do, and will continue to watch regardless. Thanks for doing what you do!

I'm on Ethan's side. WSJ should be impeached, his video apologising still had some really interesting points that are still evidence to suggest malpractice on behalf of WSJ. Serious malpractice that has caused losses of billions of dollars.
