When I was using a unit, I only had the salon attach it one time. I ordered my own units from China for $175. Stunning quality. I did all my own detach/reattaches with no issues. The only thing I needed the stylist for after that was to trim my own hair or to cut in new pieces. I even bleached my own knots on the new units. You can do it for MUCH less than any "system" will want you to spend.

Hey! I’m glad I came across your videos. I’m gonna be offering this in my barbershop and I’ve been searching for information!!im super picky!! You touched on so much that I am thinking about n one of the biggest things for me is teaching the client to take care of it themselves. That way there no insecurities, and you can get by if your hairstylist happens to leave you...if you know what I mean! Any advice would be welcome!

Your hair looks great. I'm not a fan of hair systems at all but yours looks great. I had a coworker who wore one that was virtually undetectable and I'm really good at spotting hair systems, transplants, etc. So it is possible to get a great system, you just need to find a good source and invest time in making it look great. Great video, Curtis. My salon recommended a hair product for me, a lot less harmful than hairspray. It's a liquid mousse by Fantasia. Just a couple of sprays gives you a firm hold with shine. Also conditions and detangles and very easy to wash out, never leaves residue. Give it a try, it would work well with your hairstyle.

I am sorry you have not had great experiences with salons for your hair systems. I work at a salon that specializes in hair loss, our systems are custom made to the shape, size, color, density and texture that matches your hair. Most of our clients are in a program that they pay monthly and the amount is based on the number of Grafts and the total services they would like per year. Most of our clients come in at least once a month for a full service that includes removing the graft putting on a new graft because we rotate them and cutting it in if it has not been worn before. If our clients have an issue, which is not often, we take care of it for them at no charge. We also make sure we educate our clients on the proper care they need to do in between visits. You do a great job explaining to the viewers that these systems aren't fail proof and what they can expect.
@HairExperience
@HairExperience 6 лет назад
Kelly Entwistle from an expert thank you. That means a lot. Just like I said, some are great and some are bad. It's inevitable in every industry. I was hoping a stylist-specialist would chime in. What's the name of your salon so we can pass the word for clients to receive a good experience!!
@kellyentwistle9678
@kellyentwistle9678 6 лет назад
HairExperience I work at Versacchi Studios in Owings Mills, Maryland right outside of Baltimore. No doubt that every experience we have in any industry is not always 100% but I will return to a business who corrects the issue as long as I am within reason. You really do give great advice to your listeners. The longevity of a graft depends on the care you use and remember every time you remove the graft the materials do breakdown some. If your graft is 100% human hair your salon can color your graft as long as it's in good condition we do it all the time. Using a moisturizing shampoo is important since the hair doesn't get natural oils from your scalp you have to put the moisture back in, conditioner should only be used on the ends getting near the base can cause the knots to become loose which causes excessive shedding. Sorry for going on just nice to see someone that cares as much as I care about our clients with hair loss.

Hey Kelly, do you know/ recommend any salons in NYC/NJ area? Thanks
@LeeKeels
@LeeKeels 6 лет назад
This is an inappropriate use of the term "graft." A "graft" is not a hairpiece and is not removable. Grafts are transplants...hair removed from one part of your head and moved PERMANENTLY to another location on the head. Refer to it as what it is...a hairpiece or toupee...and yes, I've used them.

I've been bald for almost 25 years. I eventually totally shaved everything off, felt cleaner and looked better but my scalp itches when my hair starts growing- How does that work out when using these systems? Does your head itch? Is it uncomfortable on hot days? Does the adhesive react with sensitive skin? It kinda looks too good to be true?

Thanks brother! I actually just sent a message through their site. As always, I watch all your videos for the latest tutorials and advice. I was worried about how I was going to match the hair color to my natural hair. I had no idea about the three different shades F,T,B... I did inquire about leaving a deposit for the use of John's hair color ring. I'll still call him tomorrow if I don't hear from him by mid day. As always bro, can't thank you enough. Next time I dip through Destin on my way to Sandestin, my wife and I are buying you a steak!

I currently live in San Antonio Texas but drive through Destin when visiting family in Daytona, Clearwater & Jupiter. It will probably be a few months before I get out there again but at the very least, I'd like to shake your hand and thank you for the guidance. I realize you could be doing 100 other things but you still find time to reply to everyone who follows you on your channel. I hope to talk with John tomorrow and borrow that color ring. My wife and I are making a new template ( since the hairdresser kept my first one ) this weekend and hope to get a new system squared away ASAP!

Curtis! First of all... THANK YOU! I've seen all your videos and appreciate your tutorials. I have my first system and it's awful. Wrong lace, wrong color, wrong cut. I now have the knowledge to fix it though. I tried Top Lace but I keep getting a voice mailbox that's full. It's kind of frustrating because I want to go with your recommendations. Has anyone else had trouble contacting TL? Any suggestions?

You ARE the real deal Curtis. You know, I had such a bad experience with my first attempt at a hair system I almost gave up on it. If your looking for more ideas to help others, I'd be happy to give some more detailed ideas on what to watch out for when choosing a hairdresser/ hair system specialist. There were warning signs I missed and I'm still living with a horrible system. I can't take it off until I order a new one and it's so embarrassing. I'll try again tomorrow to call TL. Thanks again.

@HairExperience

Is it a Tape or glue?
@TooManyCatsRyan
@TooManyCatsRyan 6 лет назад
Hi. It's glue. Apparently it's a "soft bond" adhesive. The place I went to get my first system, used it. I was given an extra bottle of the stuff. I abhor this stuff. I do not understand for the life of me, the thinking behind a glue that never dries. Here it is: drive.google.com/open?id=1Rv1XoT62tWRZ4LEq_EcbB8fCbVttpQCX

I just went today to my hair salon to have my first and last re-attachment and haircut, I told her I rewatched my system myself two weeks ago because it needed to. I explained her what I did and she was very happy I did it. She told me most of her clients call them freaked out when they see their system lift a little in the front. When I told her what I did and used she told me herself, "you don't have to come back here for re-attachments then, you can do that yourself and safe lots of money and just come for haircuts." She even told me some tips to do some things faster and make it easier. She even told me I can come with my wife and she will teach my wife how to attach the system easier to help me with it. Some tips she told me were, to remove the glue easier with a towel, just put the system in a container with hot water and cover it up for 10 minutes, take it out put it on the head mannequin and with the towel roll out the glue, she showed me and it came out very easy, no need to use alcohol or other product, just plain water. She also told me to put a plastic head cover, those that some women use to protect their hair from water in the shower and put in on the mannequin head, in that way your system won't be stock with the glue residue attached to the mannequin and will get off easy from the head cover, by the way she gave me a free pack for me to use. She told me if I have problems finding my hairline to use a eye liner the same color of my skin, it's not going to be noticeable for the people and it will come out by itself later, I used black liner before and was a pain in the butt to take it out and I burned my skin with alcohol trying to get it out... She gave me the liner free for me to use. I recommend to you all people with systems to not to be afraid to ask your hairsylist about everything you need to know, you won't lose nothing asking... She gave me an appointment for two weeks just in case but she told me if everything is fine, I just can cancel it when they call me to remind me.... I love my hair stylist, she just earned a good tip.

And this is the knowledge that the saloon should share to us in the beginning. Especially when they convince us to use the product. they should put this information in the product detail, about how long it would last. Maybe some saloon did tell us about it, and thats good. but my saloon didnt. This is important knowledge, because some people like me probably thought it would last for several years so I consider to use one. And there are some people who thought it would last forever too.

I've just asked the saloon about how long the product will last. and she said it would last to 15 years, and she said some of her customer have already been using her product for 5 years. in your opinion as an experience user, should I believe it?

You really don't need glue. A good quality tape strategically placed is just fine. Looks like it would work best with slightly longer hair in the front. I would think glue would be way too messy. Conclusions based on feedback from individuals who gave used both.

Hi Curtis Great work man! Who needs a saloon if they can have you! ;-) I have a question if I may: Let's say I order a system online with Toplace because it's way less expensive than the $700 that I just payed (can't say anything bad about the service and quality though) do I need to send them my template or do they send a system that I need to cut out myself. Maybe a foolish question but I'm just a rookie in the game ;-) But again love your work, keep going! My girl asked me last night: 'Baby, you wanna watch Home and away with me?' I sayd: ' Hell no! I'm watching Curtis tonight!!' :-) :-) Greets from Antwerp, Belgium!

Hahaha!! This really made me laugh! Tom, I live in Australia where Home and Away is produced. I didn’t even realise they aired it in Belgium! Is it popular? Do they dub it into Flemish or Walloon? Curtis, it’s a soap opera incase you were wondering. I’m pretty sure they don’t show it in the US! And I agree with Tom..you da man! I don’t have a unit myself, but am a bit thin on top, so have always been interested in them and the mechanics of how they work. You do a great job explaining it all. Your unit looks great, and I hope you don’t mind me saying, but a good looking fellow as well. I don’t think people who don’t battle with it actually realise what a difference a full head of hair can make too you mentally. I would not have even picked yours, which is surely a sign of a good and well maintained unit! What does your wife think of it out of curiosity? Best wishes from James in Australia

Guys! A new milestone in my life! Since friday I have my first hairsystem and it looks even better than I could even imagine. I look almost 10 years younger, no sh!t! My girlfriend looks at me like she fell in love with me for the first time. My worries that I had for comments of others are gone cause I'm superhappy with the result. Thank you Curtis for being one of my motivators. James Walker: Where I'm from in the Flemish part we always watch original versions with subtitles. Luckily cause I can't stand the dubbing ;-) I think every 30+ can sing the begintunes of H&A and Neighbours smoothly :D

Tom De Meyer Well done Tom!! That’s such good news, and the most important thing is that you are happy with it! What a shame you cant post a photo with comments, be great to see how it looks! Really pleased for you buddy :) You get Neighbours as well! I’m still amazed those shows are shown in Belgium! Where they film the outdoor house scenes in Melbourne is near where I grew up in Melbourne! I guess they are a bit addictive to watch! Lol. Well done again on the new unit buddy. Be keen to hear how it feels etc? :)

What people spend on hair systems over a matter of time could go towards a permanent hair transplant.
@HairExperience
@HairExperience 6 лет назад
Hey with all due respect, are you looking for an argument? You seem to have a full head of hair so there is nothing to worry about for you so you have no idea. As for the transplant and cost. You are correct over a very long period of time. Issue is that most of the time they do not work the first time, you need a second or third. So the cost is crazy. 25000 to 40,000 USD. Most don’t want to or can’t afford this. Also the medical part of it has its own risks. In my opinion not worth it at all.

Do you have to go to a specialist salon, couldn't a normal hairdresser cut you hair, if it's stuck to you're head you should be able to cut it. And where do you buy systems from, can you buy your own off the internet and just cut out the people who are making big money.
