Hank Williams, the KING of Country Music, just as Elvis is the KING of Rock and Roll. As a songwriter Hank ranks alongside Lennon, McCartney, Dylan, Simon, Diamond, Taupin, Wonder....the very very best !!!
@@georgetraylor7835 Merle was good, but Hank is better, nobody could ever instill that 'achy', painful', hurt' in a song like Hank. It's almost tangible...
Back in the late 40's and very early 50's the radio stations were all playing country music. That was the thing in those days. Any station that played country music would play Hank Williams songs several times in an hour. He was the greatest and has been so much missed by many.
Some 65 years since his passing and his songs still ring your heart and mind, most things get stale in that time, Hank is just as direct and heartfelt as it must have been to the ears of our great and grand parents.
I listened to hank Williams as a child when my dad played his music and when I became a adult I still listen to hank Williams how can you not listen to songs that scratch at your soul timeless
What a pleasure to hear him talking, so proud of recording this song that no one had heard before. And the happy talking at the end.. This is a treasure.
Absolutely correct this man set the stage and trends for everyone else but although we've had several great artists there's still nobody to compare to this man
Hank has so many heartbreak songs, but this one has always stood out to me as the most real, like he's just singing about something that happened earlier in the day that crushed his heart
He was, he was in constant pain with back pain I wish to never endure, but from my own experience from my own osteoporosis from mildly severe to severe, I know he was in more pain than I can handle, God granted "us" his music.
And.... I bet back then all they had was Codeine, which doesn't help much with this kind of pain, trust me I know from experience that only Tramadol helps now days.
My dad used to play Hank Williams and Patsy Cline all the time when i was young. Now that im older i understand why. Im sure i will be playing them for son too
I was just a mighty young girl at this time, when this song 1st came out, But I do rememeber this like it was yesterday , But many years has passed, I still love this today as much as the 1st time I heard it!!
folks, this man "was" Country Music. ladies and gentlemen, Hank Williams.... one of the great's of Real True Country Music, and not the crap their playing on top 40 supposed country music radio. i've not listened to radio in several years, but if i did, i could be caught up in bout 45 minutes, or less. so enjoy youtube, well until google decide to before long giggle-it up, or youggle-it up, which ever. please remember to vote "like--thumbs-ups" these videos, these folks spend a lot of their time in uploading them. time and energy, i always vote-up almost every video i watch, and if i happen to hate one, i just go to the next one. take care, and God bless.
Craig Hartzel This is the way they sing in Appalachia. Anyone who bitches about Hanks voice because "its not manly enough" is the same type as drives a V8 pickup because he feels like people will think he's inadequate if he doesn't. And if you need a big truck to feel cool, you probably aren't shit yourself. (Note, I love pickups, just you shouldn't need one to compensate. A real man is still cool even if he's driving a Civic)
"It's hard to know another's lips will kiss you and hold you the way I used to do, heaven only knows how much I miss you....i can't help it if I'm still in love with you." The way he sings each song and the words touches your soul....its a great feeling he brings listening to his music. It's almost like with his music he can even make sad feel good.
My one & only true Love passed away June 5th 2019 . We were married 56 yrs. When I listen to Hank I cry thinking about him , his songs bring back so many memories of him. There will never be another like my Love or another like Hank Williams Sr.

I'm a 77-year-old. Been watching PBS Country Music series. Lived quite a bit of it - historical and entertaining. Born and Raised 6 5 miles north of Grand Old Opry. Go Big Blue!!
Nunca,de los nunca cambiaré esta bella y hermosa musica que si de verdad tiene sentido y sentimiento, gracias hank porque aún vives en nuestr corazón y que viva la Country Music
+Richard Skola glad - my uncle played in a very similar group, all acoustic, no drums - played the Opry, WSM, Renfro Valley - the man had an amazing voice and was also a champion yodeler! simple is often better
Not knowing when your uncle played WSM and the opry, if he is still alive he may remember Teresa Ellis., she played fiddle for the opry, '60s I think. She's still alive, and was my neighbor for a few years. Great talent.
+Richard Skola Thanks for asking, he's been gone for maybe 20 years - he was either Tom Gaines, or Roland Gaines depending on the timing, played the circuit in the 30s to 50s - he knew people like Hank, back up Red Foley, Red Nichols, Homer and Jethro and people like that - wish I knew more, I don't even know the name of his group - but I'm with you, this music was and is simply awesome
Still listing 2021 to Hanks his music will live on for every he'll always be number1 in country music even today when you think of country music anybody out knows it's Hank W there think about second one would be George Jones of course RIP Hank And George
Hank died a year and a month before I was born. My Daddy loved his music an would walk around the house singing his songs. My Daddy had a great voice and I learned to love his songs through him. When I hear his songs makes me think of my Daddy. Thanks to all that post Hanks Songs.
Today I passed you on the street And my heart fell at your feet I can't help it if I'm still in love with you. Somebody else stood by your side And he looked so satisfied I can't help it if I'm still in love with you. A picture from the past came slowly stealing As I brushed your arm and walked so close to you Then suddenly I got that old time feeling I can't help it if I'm still in love with you. It's hard to know another's lips will kiss you And hold you just the way I used to do Oh, heaven only knows how much I miss you I can't help it if I'm still in love with you.
Hank Williams Sr. is the finest country singer on earth, he has beautiful tone, he writes his own songs, plays guitar too, his emotions are very strongly felt when listen to him singing. Hank's band is country. To top it off, Hank can yodel, and my dad said the best singers yodel, and if you like yodeling, listen to some of LeAnn Rimes, Dwight Yokum and another of my very favorites Ronnie Van Zant's song (of his band : Lynryd Skynyrd, song is Was I Right or Wrong' Ronnie yodels too, Hank and Ronnie died very young, so you would notice a cry in their voices as they sing, good listeners detect this in great singers. Hank hits the mood right in all of his songs, and my dad also said some advice, to people , if you don't like Hank's music don't listen, leaving airspace open so people like me can enjoy listening to Hank and the fine yodelers out there.. Hank's vocal range is very broad can go low and high, the best singers on earth can achieve this, he has done what many cannot do.
Dumped after 3 years by my best friend. Fought so long and hard to keep her around and make her happy...don't know what to do now. Thanks for the song, Hank. It fits me to a T.
Hank us my Icon he so grand and great. He lived every word in his songs. He was so sad in the last couple of years of his life. Love him still, always will.
The first time I heard this tune, Linda Ronstadt sang it. It was so beautiful. Then I finally heard the original singer. It was terrific! Even George Thorogood covered Hank's tunes.
I've sang this song for over 35 years but I finally got my true love back. Also I like to thank my mom for turning me on to the Hank Williams SR. I'll always be grateful to you.
