Our "how to" videos are all done on our personal ride, a 1998 HD FXSTC. They are presented for your entertainment and are in no means a guide to performing this repair on other HD models. ALWAYS review the factory service manual for the proper procedure and tools needed for your application, and seek the advice of a professional tech when in doubt.

Did you need a puller to get the clutch hub off ?

I'm surprised the clutch basket came off so easily. It often sticks. Pretty good video.

the baskets used to really stick on tapered shafts. This bike uses a splined shaft- nice and easy.

nice video, by the way you mis-spelt saga as sage ( herb), saga is a long TV series or a long & drawn out proceeding, as in the Lord of the rings saga, as they take forever to get anywhere!

All the form and videos no one is asking this question in volume. Why is Harley-Davidson still using a chain primary drive system? I mean why. In 2018 HD came out with a new motor catching up to everyone else using 4 valves per cylinder, more oil capacity for cooling and new technology etc etc. But to use that chain primary drive on a new motor in lieu of a gear drive primary that smoother and most of all less maintenance. Harley-Davidson will get rid of the chain primary drive if they want to survive long term. There are 6 guys in my club who bought Indian touring bikes for ease of oil changes and no primary concerns and still ride American.

Don't worry about it Frank. Thousands of bikers have ran this "outdated" system for decades with no problems at all because they simply changed oil and checked adjustments once a year. Just ride your awesome Jap bikes or indians and don't worry about us enjoying the older Harleys. 1999 Evo Fatboy and 2002 T.C. Road King carburetor bikes here.
