0:30 King Ormonde is on duty today at Horse Guards. This horse likes to protect his personal space. He doesn't like to be touched. He loves peace, however, and he will only make war if tourists disrespect him. Please read the famous sign on the wall, "BEWARE Horse May Bite..."
12:35 A group of tourists are taking away King Ormonde's peace.
16:26 Go away from me, human!
17:57 How dare you touch me like that, human!
20:39 I told you to leave me alone. I will teach you a lesson for disrespecting my peace. Very good strike! One more point for King Ormonde. Even the female police officer couldn't stop laughing.
34:00 The female police officer rushed to protect the toddler from King Ormonde. "Dad, this horse bite!" Hats off to the officer. Note to parents: When visiting the Horse Guards, please use your reason rather than your emotions. If an incident occurs, it will not be the fault of the King's Guard or the horse, but entirely your own. There is a large sign on the wall that reads, "BEWARE: Horse May Bite."
39:27 Tourist must be "horse lover" she loves the "royal nip.""
39:45 "Behind the bollards!" The armed police officers ask tourists to stand back as the famous Changing of the Guards Ceremony at 12 pm is about to begin.
56:35 This is just a warning: If you don't respect my personal space, I'll use my teeth, you, human! Note to tourists: Read the horse's body language and don't provoke them. Most of the time, horses are not playing with humans the way dogs do. Take your memorable photo with the majestic King's Guard and their gorgeous horses, and leave space for other tourists to do the same.
Date filmed: Today, 21 July 2024.
Formed in 1969, the regiment emerged from the merger of the Royal Horse Guards ("the Blues") and the Royal Dragoons ("the Royals"), units with roots in the mid-17th century. Serving globally, it had roles in Northern Ireland, the Cold War in West Germany, the Falklands War, UN missions in Bosnia, and conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. It was part of key defense strategies and reconnaissance missions. Notably, Prince William and Prince Harry joined as cornets in 2006.

Well said! In your last time stamp. It's all about respecting one another. And a person's personal space. King's Guards and Guard Horses are no different. They deserve our respect.❤️❤️💂‍♀️🐴👍👍

Always nice to see the Horse Guard "Godmother" or "Guardmother" interacting with the horses and Troopers. She is a credit to the Police and her Country! 🥰🐎

Although…. I watched Ormond closely (I have a theory)…. He is gentle with babies/elderly-or- disabled in wheelchairs. Not to say he is completely safe with them. But…he DID check himself with the baby. I am a lifelong horse lover.

Don't know why everyone looks at the guard when the horse is snapping or biting...he doesn't tell the horse to do it.

The guards control the horses by the reins among other things. There is one guard in particular who is very good at it. I unfortunately don’t know his name, he controls Ormonde really well. He is aware of his surroundings and keeps Ormond on a tighter rein (when necessary) rather than other guards who don’t and don’t seem to care if Ormonde bites or nips. He is nice to Ormonde but Ormonde knows who is in charge consequently there aren’t that many nippy incidents. There are a couple of other guards that do the same. Let us face it, Ormond doesn’t bite because people are rude or get too close, often times he turns his head and bites someone that is posing for a picture far away when he is in the mood. I have seen it.

@@atlanticantiquesltd7372 Yes, i agree with you, i think i know which Guard you're referring to, who controls Ormonde very well, i've seen him twice on Ormonde and there were absolutely no episodes like the one on Sunday. He came with the same group of troopers this weekend, but he was on a different horse while on Guard. Yes, Ormonde is a very particular horse when it comes to personal space and not wanting to be touched at all, and tourists need to respect that when they see such a behavior with a horse (and this applies not just to Ormonde, but to any horse). But at the same time, Ormonde, as you pointed out very well, knows who's in charge, when he is with that particular trooper or troopers (i believe there is a second one who also controls him exceptionally well) and when he is with others, that are more lenient with the reins. His demeanor changes 180. It's also not related to tourists, he doesn't like being touched by ANYBODY! Including stable troopers, as well as officers. I've seen him trying to bite stable troopers (people he's known his entire life, that feed him and take care of him), who corrected him and told him "DON'T!", every time they went to check the troopers outside. I've seen him trying to bite (and even succeed) in biting Corporals of Horses, who also corrected him and told him to stop. One time, he bit the Corporal of Horse really nasty in the abdominal area, he was lucky he was wearing the uniform. He's well known at the Cavalry stables that he bites everyone and he makes interactions very difficult. But he understands authority when that is displayed. As can be seen in the video, after the 25 minute mark approximately, the trooper takes Ormonde further inside the box, to make it more difficult for him to lunge, and she prevents him from biting the toddler.

I'm feeling a little sad for our beloved Ormonde. He looks tired. Like maybe they have sedated him. I don't believe Guard Horses start out as nippers. When you have hands upon hands touching a Guard Horse. Each time they're at Horse Guards. And tourists invading their space. It would turn any Guard Horse into a nipper. Besides Ormonde the blonde little cutie. Is the star of the video. Even she knows to give a Guard Horse their space. Stay well our beloved Ormonde. We love you!❤️🐴🥰

The police should step in more often. It makes me so mad that tourists try to see if they can get him to bite. Fun and games. My uncle had a horse that reached out of the stall, grabbed his chest, turned its head sideways and pulled his muscle from his ribs. They don't always just nip.

What did they do to Ormande? Did they sedate him? Why do tourist wave at a horse? Just how stupid are this people? What was the black man teaching his son? When an animal is telling you no by aggressive behavior, u continue to harass it!?!😮 well the guard does have more control then they show, but that’s a lot of wrk.
