I've always been a big fan of Michelin Roads and have never rode on any other brand on my '07 VFR. just spooned on a set of the older version Road 5s last summer and combined with a brand new rear shock and refreshed front suspension, they perform flawlessly. I have no doubt this will be even better. Will definitely put these on once mine are all worn out. Thanks for the review 👍
I used them on my old 05 VFR 800 and it transformed the bike! - I now have them on my KTM 990 SMT and my girlfriends 990 Superduke.. my mate is a crazy fast rider and like them on his GSXR 1000 too... he says they're really predictable at the limit
Thanks for the video! I've had a set of 5s on two bikes and love them. I'll go for the 6s when these are ready. Just a couple of points, though, regarding ANY new tires (we all must keep safe out there). Even though these tires warm up relatively quickly, it's critically important to give them more time, specially when it's cool outside. Secondly, brand new tires NEED scrubbing by riding them gently for several miles. All of them. Can't tell you how many times I've seen and heard about an excited rider dumping - literally - right in front of the shop where they had their tires mounted. Just. Makes. Sense. Stay safe and enjoy the ride (not hard to do on a Busa!).
I don't mind admitting- couple years back, I had a fresh set on tires put on at the shop, lightly gunned out the parking lot and the bike low-side on me- so yea, scrub those puppies in ;-)
Its bad that I know that is a 2005 hayabusa based on the colour of your front fender. Only year they did 2 colours on it, I own a red 05 model so this review is really interesting to see how the road 6 performs on heavier bikes 🏍

Ive got a pair of these at work right now just waiting for the salt to wash away.. got 10500 miles on the Road 5s currently on my ZX14R and i might get another 1500 out of them even before i switch. Swapping out to a 190/55 on the rear vastly changes the attitude of ur bike btw. Makes it feel more like a litrebike, but also more influenced by the wind.. good review btw

@@diego9040 w the 190/55 it feels almost eager to lean over, doesnt lift the front end quite as readily, it does feel "slower" tho. However now that ive lowered my air pressures i dont have much left til i scrub in the sidewall. I def recommend it for anyone not going for top end speed or drag racing (changes aerodynamics slightly and acceleration)
I own a 2007 Hayabusa also, I love that old bike. In 2013 I purchased a ZX-14R Kawasaki, but kept the 'busa too. Of the three generations of Hayabusa, I think the original is the prettiest. Ride safe!
This is pretty reassuring - I'm going to be picking up a set of these for my FZ6, and I've been pretty nervous (it's my first set of new tires) given all the videos of people dumping their bike turning out of the parking lot.
hello, i'm from portugal and i have a doubt, between these two good tires road 5 and road 6 ,.. i already put the road 5 behind in my mt 07 , the original tire lasted about 9000 kms ,.. and the the front is still running, however, it is already a little deformed and already something worn out, as it already has 12,500 kms on mt 07, and the doubt now is,.. do I also put road 5 in front,..? or I put the road 6,..because it is a technically improved tire and even more durable? I've also heard that it offers better and more effective braking,..is it true?,..I ask, because both are good,..but road 6 is more up to date and for a difference of only 20 euros,.. would it be better served with this road 6 at the front? and then, later, also put it behind, of course,.. in relation to the front, change of trajectory, agility, curve, which one did you like more, road 5 or road 6?? thanks !!
I'd say go road 5. Cheaper and already proven. And it's honestly best to swap front and rear in pairs. The MT07 lacks the quality suspension needed to keep the front tire correctly planted especially when riding moderately aggressive. I had the same deformation of front tire when I had mine. It scalloped the sides of the tires. Best case scenario is to do suspension upgrade in the long run.
I’m on a 2006 Hayabusa ( just turned 90k miles) I was running Metzler road tec, and yesterday I had her in for her seasonal check up w oil change etc and, a brand new set of road 6,s. Wow! My Metzlers lasted so long, she feels a little weird up front. No slip, but a bit like when I start entering a turn it’s almost like there’s high wind almost gently nudging the bike into the lean. I’ve never experienced this w new tires before.
Great video. This isn't a Hayabusa vs. ZX14R comment, but an observation about the great Michelin Road 5 (now even better road 6 tires). On the RU-vid channel "ItsMeEricB" he has video reviews of both the Hayabusa and the ZX14R. He commented that the Hayabusa handled / turned extremely well, but the ZX14R was a bit sluggish on turning. You could easily tell the Hayabusa he reviewed was on Road 5 tires and the ZX14R was on stock tires. Conversely, I've seen other reviews stating that the handling / turning on the ZX14R was amazing and effortless. Well on those reviews it was obvious the ZX14R being reviewed was on the Road 5s. I can confirm from my own ZX14R experience that on the stock tires the turn-in left a lot to be desired but instantly I could tell on the Road 5s it was night vs. day better. On my 2nd set of Road 5s but will be going with Road 6s as soon as the 5s wear out. I love these tires!
Both awesome bikes. My 07 Hayabusa is awesome, would love to have a 14 too. The handling is great with the Rosso 4 I hsve right now, will have to try Road 6 next.
I got them for my Sv650. It is not a hayabusa but I think it will be good. Some have told SV does not have enough power for these tires but I disagree.
I like hearing this but just can't get over the look of them. If there was no other Comparable tire I would for them. I run the Pirelli Angel GT and they are awesome not saying the road 6 isn't. It's good to hear people love the Road 6 and another great option out there
8000 miles on Road V's ? I wish. 6000 is my average on my BMW r1200rs. I have a set of Road VI's on order. The 5Vs were the best I ever had on the bike . Really looking forward to the VI's.
I have had about 8000 miles on my 1250gs on the road 6's. Im just replacing them now. But I probably have another 1000+ miles left on the rear and 2-3k left on the front.... I just like changing up early!
I use road 5s in Wales GB been on the bike coming up 3 years about 7000 miles 85% of the time dry road use looking good at the moment 👍 they're on a Z 1000 SX year 2017 , I'm all for upgrading when there's something new available but probably not going tobe for a while very pleased with them, Compared to the absolute rubbish that came with the bike think they was Battal axe 16 dreadful 😕 slip on anything even on white road lines when overtaking, They should of been named Battle axe skippers ,
Yeah we had a set of the those on a MT07. They seemed to grip ok in the dry but not in the wet at that power level. Got 5k miles out of the rear but didn't like them so we ended up swapping. them

Well the speed was quicker than what it should be for that stretch of road. Tires for the adv we went looking and only found three different tires that fit that specific bike. Michelin city grip pirelli angel and the Bridgestone battlax. They all look good however we haven't experienced any of these in person
Great video. I've just purchased a 2008 GSX1400 (low kms and immaculate condition) with a brand new set of Road 6s. It arrives next week and can't wait to seehow the bike performs with those tyres.
I live in Alaska and I came to this channel by searching for a review on the Road 6. I was surprised to see what looked like Red Clay State Park and Alabama Road in your video. Is that actually where you were riding?

Bridgestone t30s ive heard great things about for the money but i haven't tried them the road 6s I love those they do ha e a heavier price tag though little under 1k on them this far
The Road 5's have been great sports touring tyres, but I'll be very surprised if the life increases by the same percentage as the price. I've had every iteration of the pilot series since the 2's and I doubt that there's been a 20% increase in tread life over the 3 versions.
great interview brother I had the road pilot 4 on my Yamaha fz1000s and I didn't like how they felt. but you review was very informative with all those miles on that first set you had on i mean man you was rolling. GOD Bless you safe riding
I prefer the road 5's over the power 5's. The power 5's feel like they skip/slide/let go/wobble, the road 5's feel like glue through the apex. Just what I've felt, everyone is different.
@@thisthatandtheother1224 i'm still on the factory Dunlop Road Sport 2 tires as i have only about 6800 miles on the bike. The "Dunflops" are terrible! They have a weird profile and don't seem to ever really heat up. Many on our Z900 forum have complained about them. The road 5's got rave reviews, and i'm thinking that the 6's will be an amazing tire!
@@mikesbikechannel4387 The road 5s are a great choice. The road 6s are working great so far (300mi). The road sport 2s have a different feel and are a step up from the GPR300. It's still considered a B series. Where the road 5/6s are an A series. But 6800mi is still great for stock milage.
I had a set of Road 5s on my cbr500r and they performed great. My only detractor was a slight squirm at just the right angle. It’s almost like the contact patch was shifting between the tread pattern and it wasn’t a great sensation. I like the looks of the 6s as they don’t have a band of treaded area around the shoulders. I went with Power 5s on my sv650 until I hear more about the Road 6s.
We also have a sv650 in another video and with the road 5 and can't really complain so far. They've always gripped good in the wet and dry with great tread life. About 3k miles in so far and look like they have about half tread. That was last year.
I've got an 07 SV650s with 05 gixer frontend & wheels and zx10 shock and was looking at power 5s to replace Q3+. So how you like the 5s, mileage, and why wouldn't you switch the road 6s?
@@vannevels6758 I’ve only gotten about 500 miles so far on the Power 5s but every one of those miles felt grippy from the start. I’m expecting around 5k. As a mostly fair weather rider an RSV4 rider suggested the Power 5 since they’re less expensive than the Road 6 with more focus on performance. I am looking forward to hearing about the overall longevity considering I’m planning on burning through 2 Power 5 rears before the end of the summer. I’m not writing them off just yet, just want to have a better view of what I’m getting in to
@@thisthatandtheother1224 the only thing I need to know is how close the road 6 is to my Q3s. I've got tiny chicken strips on the rear (down to the carcass a few inches off the center of the tire) so I ride like that, never in the 🌧.
Nice video thanks, but the whole needing to ride gently for the first 100 miles simply isn't true anymore and hasn't been for decades. There's literally nothing to scrub on a brand new set of modern tires due to the way they are manufactured. The only thing you're actually scrubbing is any contamination picked up during transportation/installation. So while yes you should take it easy for a few miles, that's all you really need to do. As long as you can make road contact with most of the tire in the first few miles you should be good to go. All I do is get the tires up to temperature, then ride easy trying to get as low as possible on both sides. Roundabouts are good for this as long as you know them well and know there's no contamination. After that you're going to have just as good traction after a few miles, as you would in 100. Getting them up to temperature is the only really important thing you need to do, on any tires no matter their age.
That's a good point! We've just been heating them up for the first couple short rides. 1st. To get comfortable with new tire grip and 2nd just to be on the safe side. You've got thousands of miles to go. Just take it careful for the 100.
@@thisthatandtheother1224 Yeah for sure, it's always good to get familiar with a new set of tires too, especially if they are different to your old ones as they'll likely have a different shape and feel. Most experienced riders are generally okay though, but definitely solid advice to those who may be new to riding. I just find it funny how we're still giving the same advice even though things have changed so drastically, 100 miles is massive overkill. Most shops I use seem to be slowly changing their tune too, and will say things like "we're supposed to say take it easy for the first 100 miles, but just let them get up to temperature and get used to them before any spirited riding" - I always take that as a sign I've gone to a good shop to get my new tires :) it's nice to know people are trying to keep themselves informed when you're putting your life in their hands!

Hi. Just purchased a set of these for my Blackbird. Bike goes into a wobble at about 50 to 80mph. Seems fine on slow speed. A mate is having the exact same issues. Any issues with your tyres
I've got a set of Gt6s on my Trophy after Many sets of Gt4s and they are the business at any speed and in any weather and temperature up around North Yorkshire. Regards
A question on settling, even though balanced, immediately after riding out of the shop the tyres seem out of balance at highway speeds, this is occurring with my new Michelin Road 6 installed yesterday, have noticed this happening previously on other tyres where they feel unbalanced at speed but appears to diminish over distance, is this be considered usual as part of settling or unusual with the Road 6 ?
I recommend that they be balanced again. We've seen places skip this process, or just get it wrong. At highway speeds it should feel smooth especially after getting brand new tires. Maybe on an old set with bad wear but not new. Let us know if they put wheel weights on it.
Should not feel any oit of balance from the tire/service itself. If wheel bearing r getting notchy it wont balance accurately, might have something else mechanically contributing tho also.. recommend discussing it e ur service shop
So far we've gotten them in the rain a little and they seem to run a little better then the 5s, but more testing is needed. Maybe a follow up on them later this year.
I’ve had the Road Pilot 6 GT on my K1600 for the last 3 months and covered almost 6k miles on them they are awesome and the feel and grip they give are inspiring
Overall they're pretty good. But they're still an ST tyre and I find the same exact areas of improvement as with the R5. Comfortable grip limit in the dry for the front is 45~ deg. Have lost the front on a warmed up R6 on a clean corner, at more than 45 deg of lean at 33 psi cold, 20C ambient, with trailbraking already over before it occurred. I for one, would only keep these for winter/autumn, and switch to a sports tyre for spring/summer. If longer tours are planned, would probably use these regardless of season. They're a very good compromise of mileage/handling/grip. I mean, it flicks faster than an S22. Given the S22 is rather slow on the turn-in for a sports tyre. Still a bit bummed out about the grip "limit".
Modern sport touring tires are made for bikes like the hypernakeds, so basically 150hp+ bikes, that can do sharp corners, You sacrifice little dry grip for more durability and wet grip, the only downside to this is if you plan to push your bike hard for hours like in a canyon when your always doing sharp turns, so the tires warming up fast may be beneficial to a normal rider but not in that scenario. Most of the loss of dry grip you will see with modern ST tires, won't be discernable on most bikes unless you're on the track. Also to mention the track for a bit, people have tracked with modern sport touring tires, it's not as uncommon as you might think, especially on the colder days, for more intermediate track riders. All ST tires are not necessarily rain tires, a lot of them are more focused to dry/ damp weather, but the pros to having them over certain Sport tires is they're slower to ware, and they warm up quickly in temps above 45 degrees F, but can still handle in temps under 45 degrees F after some prep. Even on a dry day if you take a sport tire out when it's say 40 degrees F, if you can even get it warmed at all, the rubber is going to be a lot harder and not have as much grip. The max lean angle on an r6 is about 50-57 degrees (on track tires), and that's dependent on the tire, and those are lean angles you should only be using in a parking lot as practice, or on a track under high speed cornering. If you're taking more 45 degrees of lean angle on the street on a sport touring tire on an r6, that either means you're entering the corner too fast and not breaking enough, or you're using the street as your own personal track. Sure a sport tire may give you a little more lean angle, but just because you have a higher maximum lean angle doesn't mean you should use it on the street at 20 Celsius. Also if you're having trouble with grip, it's reasonable to test out 30-28psi on a ST tires since they're quicker to warm up, especially if you plan on hard cornering. If you desire that much lean angle for the street then of course you basically want to be running at minimum pilot powers (gp), if not power cup 2's; in terms of grip. But then you'd have to run tire warmers or spend a while warming up your tire before pushing it at 20 Celsius and you wouldn't be able to ride well under 7 Celsius. It really depends where you live but if you plan to ride multiple seasons or you live in a place where it gets cold in late spring and early fall, and you only want one set of tires, you basically have to go for a ST.
So for the Road 5s have easily done 48 degrees on some twisty roads on my Gen 3 Hayabusa and normally I wouldn’t know the lean angle but the Gen 3 has the lean angle on the dash. The loss of grip I’ve noticed is if my hand overcomes my brain and I spin the rear in a corner.
@Archie Macmurchy 99.9 my rear tire spins is because I’m trying to accelerate too hard out of the corner. The Gen 3 Hayabusa is a heavy girl with a fair amount of hp and torque. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t push limits a little bit. Always trying to improve from the last ride.
