Hays CISD releases video from deadly bus crash 

School bus driver here. I hate the idea of seat belts in busses. Reason? Odds of a roll over are very low. Odds of a fire from the engine are much higher. Let's say I have 50 kids. Engine catches fire. So now I have 50 elementary age kids who are in an abolute panic due to said fire. Who in their panic forget how to undo their seatbelts(yes, this is a very real thing). I have maybe 3 minutes before the bus is filled with toxic black smoke that is deadly. Who's kids do I manage to save(maybe 5 if I'm very lucky with my seatbelt cutter) and who's do I leave behind to die? If no belts are involved I can have my entire bus evacuated in that time period by the simple expedient of quickly walking from front to back telling kids to MOVE IT out the back door.

It is very expensive to own a heavy truck as far as taxes go. Depending on the number of axles you could be looking at over $10,000 a year in tax fees alone. Tickets and insurance are also higher. Also their incident rate is not even close to passenger vehicles. All of this information is readily available on the internet.
