Lucy Carmichael's old pal, Rosie (Ann Southern), is back in town with a lot of luggage and little money. The only asset she has is a race horse left to her by her husband. Lucy vows to help Rosie with her race horse until the unexpected happens, with Mr. Mooney coming in to help.(*Note, Bill Frawley ,aka "Fred Mertz", does a cameo in this episode as a track maintenance man, which was one of his last TV appearances. He passes in 1966)

Vivian Vance was a guest on Rhoda in the '70s. Her last appearance with LUCY was in the TV special, "Lucy Calls the President" in 1977. ETHEL NEVER appeared on The Lucy Show & this was NOT the last TV show in which Vivian appeared.

Vivan wouldn't have been there. She and Bill did not like each other. When he died and she heard about it, she was at a restaurant and reportedly stood up and said "drinks for everyone."

@@AlfredHawthornBennyHill Frawley was working on the Desilu lot during the first 2 1/2 seasons of "The Lucy Show", before health problems forced him off of "My Three Sons". So he was in the same area, but they couldn't do a cameo with him until Vance left the show.

This episode has the oldest gag in the book. Mother: Junior. Tell your Dad his guest is here. Junior: Ok. (Shouting). DAD! YOUR GUEST IS HERE! Literally every sitcom since the beginning of time has had some version of this gag. This one does too.

They weren't filmed in a widescreen format, so the prints don't exist.

Lucille Balle. Had a better educative system than Harvard in Product Presentation. That may be the case for Harvard Drop Outs to Succeed without Graduation. One thing is clear we need presence of mind. Secondly we need confidence in Innocence. Thirdly follow the Truth & Not Money. Fourthly Lucy's Boss Surname was Money and Head of a Banking Division and a Moron.

the countess lady was such a blowhard she was a poor replacement for Vivian Vance, I liked when Mary Jane was used more but even when she co-starred with Lucy they would not give her credit until the end of the show

I disagree with the first part of your comment. Ann Southern, that countess lady you mentioned, was funny enough for her own rights. But non can replace Vivian Vance as she had superb comic timings (mostly known for her facial expressions) sometimes even better than Lucy's physical comedy. Gale Gordon was superb as usual.

Vivian purposely left the show as she lived at that time in Connecticut and Vivian was flying back & forth on the weekends. It became too much why she quit. Guess Vivian loved living in Connectivut and did not want to relocate to California.

It's a 1960's sitcom filmed in front of people; you can't keep the studio audience sitting restlessly while an actress excuses herself, scrubs her face, shoots the bed scene, and then re-applies all the makeup again for her next scene.

Few sitcoms from the 60's would be successful nowadays. First, the scripts would be so dated with slang and stuff, and sometimes things were too stereotypical and offensive.
