The pills is a play on the epidemic in Appalachia country. The people in Kentucky and West Virginia (coal miners country) are plagued by the opioid epidemic. His dads back injury I’m sure facilitated the dependency too
At 3:42 (the beginning of the song) the sound completely drops out and doesn't come back until 7:12 (the end of the song). So... a reaction video with a twist.
Being from Southeast Kentucky, I can tell you this is 150% RAW and REAL. Coming from 3 generations of coal miners from Leslie, Perry, and Harlan Counties, here's how I take the meaning: So basically his dad was a miner, and more than likely the mine caved in with him in it, crushed his back and is now going to a pain clinic and taking percocet to just be able to get out of bed. Hes also burned bridges in the family and his addiction is ripping his family apart. Hes telling Tyler to stay focused and dont follow his path with percocet addiction, but it's too late. He is battling his own demons and he cant find work ( basically feels hopeless ) His other song Hard Times kinda ties in with this.....or at least that's my opinion.
Reguarding being (lost) in your own mind, Tyler worte a song that exactly hit the nail on the head. Listen to "Universal Sound" its so deep and there is so much truth in there it's actually insane.

My dude. Listen here. I love you and your channel but you gotta just do it and be you! Look we all love the production and the quality and preparedness you bring at times but my dude you gotta sometimes just go with it when you don't and say what you gotta say about the things. Steve Martin has a quote that says something like "Be so good that they can't ignore you" and that is 100% the case here. The song and the raspy voice or lousy audio or lacking hype or energy or whatever twisted truth your head tells you wont matter if you are real and get at it every time. I mean you probs spent 1min and 30 scec of a 7:37 video talking about what we the viewer want to see and what we don't and how you are thinking about it and that is REAL and good what we the viewers want is someone talented on guitar with experience to tell us how fucking awesome a song we all like is and how we can enjoy it differently. So stop overthinking and sit down and watch the video sooner and tell me more about the music and how you feel and think about it! Maybe sit down and do like 4 of these back to back to back to back and edit them up and post the 2 best ones or take a cold shower and sit down and watch this or have a run but whatever you do get your feet on the ground and talk about the thing we all are here to talk about and love and that is music.
