Things I dislike at garage sales the most: Not knowing the price on their stuff, looking up eBay as a price guide and sellers just sitting there watching you.
@gustavomacuil7457 but this guy sells his stuff on eBay 💀😂 what you yapping about he just wants stuff for dirt cheap or not at all and gets hurt otherwise lol
@@ghostg1028 Ebay is taking pictures, listing, and shipping items. Then dealing with people who might not be happy with the item they received. Maybe you are confusing somebody putting their items out on their lawn and wanting ebay prices, with an ebay seller coming by and taking the risk on buying and reselling. It's not for everybody. Before RU-vid and even ebay existed, vintage stores and pawn store owners did this stuff. If you want premium prices for your stuff, you need to put work into finding that buyer. Not just putting your junk on the curb for people to come by and pay up. Pawn stores and auction houses all take a commission too.
I see both sides. I agree you should have a price but $25 offer for a Harley helmet is definitely low. Then again, it is a yard sale and if not priced, you should not get offended by what offer comes your way.
It cracks me up when people get offended by an offer when they have no prices and literally tell you to "make an offer" 😂😂 They obviously have a price in mind so why not just put a price on it? Annoying lol
Well then make a realistic offer. It was a Harley helmet. They are ridiculously expensive, and they were in nice shape. I paid $375 for mine, and it was the same thing just all black... Edit: Its a Harley-Davidson Gargoyle X07 3-in-1 Helmet. Look at the price of them. The offer seemed rude to him, because he probably thought he knew what they cost...
@@draynged7869 it's hard to believe that resellers can't wrap their minds around common sense. I'm sure the guy would have given a GREAT deal to someone who actually needed the helmets. And when he said absolutely not it was not rude at all, however the "offer" was very rude.
John I gotta hand it to you! The number of people that don't make an effort to price anything and then have no idea what they want for something would drive me around the bend at the rate you visit sales. Hats off to you! Thanks for another great video.
@@flipmanthefantastic yes, he should have had a price already set. But on the other hand when you have items that are like new that are OBVIOUSLY worth a lot of money and you ask someone to make their best offer it's an insult to offer pennies on the dollar! Why is that so hard to understand?
The guy with the laptop trying to look at eBay prices lol. If he wants eBay prices or close to that then he should just list them on there. He seems like he is pricing everything out by eBay. Wont sell nothing like that.
And they always forget the ebay fees, the shipping and now you have to submit a proper tax form just to sell anything on ebay. It all gets reported. I sell on ebay and whenever I sell stuff in person for cash it's always way lower than what I have listed on ebay. I'll take the cash all day!
Why not? All of these RU-vid resellers are exposing the business so it was only a matter of time before people doing yard sales start to look up the comps. Resellers are buying things at yard sales for a dollar then posting on RU-vid telling everyone they sold it for $200. Thats why people are starting to wise up. If resellers can look up comps, so can everyone else.
I feel like people don’t realize they are having yard sales, if they want to sell at eBay prices they need to deal with shipping and returns and postal claims when things break or disappear. They want that price without the work… it’s annoying to say the least.
Why? Why can't they sell for whatever price they want? You have no obligations to buy. Also a lot of people that sell stuff for dirt cheap usually don't look up the value of the item they are selling or just want it gone. You seem to forget people pay a ton of money for things brand new or even used, and sometimes they want to sell it for a fair price, and not give it away for a few bucks...
Exactly 💯 eBay fee bay makes too much but it's cause they handle more claims pip returns then the go billionaire easy money hosting n posting the forever site they need to stop texting monitoring n give the top sellers major bonuses
Yeah.. these people are having yard sales.. They aren't idiots. You expect them to sell THEIR things for a couple bucks regardless of the value? All the people complaining have reseller mentality and its sickening. Which isn't unexpected cause this is a reseller's channel and I just happen to stumble upon it. If I wanted something on eBay that happen to be 100$ but I came across a yard sale that was selling it and wanted 60 for it , i'd happily buy it.
Meh, that's every old person at every thrift, sale, flea. Sometimes I pick something up and set it down just to see how long it takes them to grab it. 😂
That specific Taylor record sells for thousands of dollars. It’s the rarest one she has. It was never sold to the public. It was a promotional product only and his is especially rare because it’s still in the original box which most people don’t have.
@@kgal1298 Iff he didn't storm off like a child every time someone gives him a price he doesn't like he might have taken the time to look into it. Him and commonwealth picker do it all the time.
@@puppetthepirate clearly doesnt storm off a like a child.....and if the dude selling is looking them up on ebay, most likely the records have been removed from the box.
Taylor Swift album goes for $4k easy. What a mistake not getting that for $30. Looks like the same one with a very similar rip sold two days ago on Ebay for $4,350. Sold from a seller in Kentucky so its probably the exact same copy from this yard sale. Yikes😢
yep dudes prices were high but cincinnati picker should have looked up the record at the least. I dont think he looked it up. Id be kickin myself if i knew id passed on on an item that good after reading these comments lol.
I like how mellow your videos are. No clickbait drama. No hype, and you're relaxing to watch. This was a good video---even when some of those asking prices were laughable. I hate it when someone tells you to make an offer and then acts offended about your offer. He should have told you his price or gotten up off his patootie and stuck a tag on it. Pffftt.
That guy who had to look up stuff on his computer I knew anything he was going to say was going to be way too high. $90.00 for that bag was a complete ripoff. Some people think they are running a normal retail store when they have a yard sale. The point of a yard sale is to get rid of stuff not make huge profits.
Wow so a prepared person that wants to sell items to get close to it's value is a dirt bag?! They are selling to make profit or close to a profit. They are basically doing what the guy making these videos does... (minus ebay which is a pain in the ass)
@@draynged7869 Thanks for your replay! Just for the record I did not say he was a dirt bag and he is welcome to sell anything for the price he would like to get for the item. I think you understand the point I was making that normally a yard sale people are trying move things a quickly and to move them fast the prices are generally a lot lower than what someone would see on ebay or other sites like that.
@@lidsman2221 Normally people don't look up the value of shit they are selling, and mostly just want it gone. You are under no obligations. If he wants to sell for close to ebay prices than so what. Just don't buy his stuff. Not everyone is going to sell items they paid a lot of money for for almost nothing. Like the helmets at the end. Those helmets are very expensive. It was an insult to offer $25. Lastly there was quite a few yard sales on this video that was charging higher than here just take this away prices...
I watch and enjoy all your videos. I work in a grocery store and a lady came in to get some change for her yard sale. As she walked away I said “good luck with your sale”. I busted out laughing and knew exactly where I got that from. 😂
The 'make me an offer' people are pretty much the only things I can't stand when I go to yard sales. If I go to a yard sale and the prices are high then fine, that is what they want to do. Sure I may be disappointed stuff isn't cheaper but I would never get upset about it as it is their stuff and they can ask what they want. But to not price something and tell someone to make an offer, then get offended when they don't like my offer drives me nuts. Especially when like this guy they come out and state a price. So they clearly had some type of idea the ballpark they wanted to be in.
It's a really stupid game some people play. I've had people just flat out refuse to say a price they want for something they're wanting to sell. Weirdos.
I felt sick watching this video… he had no idea 😭😭😭 I would be so quick to go back to that address once I realized, also surprised that guy looking stuff up completely missed it too.
I can never understand the people that hate resellers but still watch their videos. But hey if you really wanna hate, boy have I got a channel for you. 😂
Thanks John. First couple of guys seemed pretty cool....then it got a little rougher..lol "Absolutely Not !" Maybe he should have stated a price to begin with. Can't win them all.
The belts in those tape players are super easy to change out. There is a RU-vid video on damn near every model showing how to do it. Then you can list it as refurbished or "serviced".
I am in resale, and I never like when they say make an offer or how much do want to pay cause in the end, they already know what they want so the worst case scenario is you offer more then they want so I always say well you're selling it so what do you need for it. Most of the time then they will give me a price, but if not, I just walk off because they usually want way too much.
When people look up the price on the internet, you can usually count on to high of price.I have done well at family ran estate sales. They just want the stuff gone.
I have literally walked away before while waiting for people to look up items so they can give me a price. Trying to be polite, I say ‘ya know, if you are going to look up value on everything, we are probably going to be too far apart anyway…. Thanks though.’ …as I wave goodbye.
Nice finds John..😍😮 The Goalrilla pads were a homerun especially for $5.00 into $200.00 plus..🤗 Never understand why people don't price the items but flip out when they get an offer..😢 You had a really good day..🎉 Take care..👍❤🔥🤙
I would definitely list the empty cases.. I myself buy empty cases on eBay all the time for my vita and switch games when I buy them on Amazon and they come without a case I always go get the case for them on eBay. Game collectors are real funny about them cases lol keep up the good work!! I been watching for a while now
I hate what other people do on videos as soon as you ask the seller out loud how much is something other people start showing interest in the stuff your already look at, like just wait your turn. 11:15
Is this the thing with yard sales now, sellers using eBay asking prices to set their prices? That's what my locals thrifts do as well. The deals are getting harder to find!
I think it has more to do with the ease of being able to look up prices on eBay. People don’t realize there is usually a huge difference between the asking prices and actual selling prices.
@@popme21if you are offering something that’s most likely been used a lot or sitting around in a box for 5/10+ years you can’t be trying to ask near retail for things. i remember when used used to mean things were CHEAPER
Some of these people...I'd be tempted to say, "I've noticed that you don't have prices on this stuff that you're selling and tell me to make an offer, but you are offended by offers made after not knowing what you would even want for it." Having a computer there and looking online to try to get as close to the amount as possible that people are selling it for is...ridiculous. I hope they didn't sell a thing that day. I'm also puzzled at people who are "selling something for someone else, but they aren't here yet and I don't know what they want for them." WTF?!? People are nuts.
You did one of my pet peeves and that's taking something and not putting it back if you don't buy it. One other is the seller folds everything nicely and resellers or even just sale buyers leave the clothes in a pile. I like your videos ND I have mentioned it to other resellers doing my pet peeves. 😊
Hi CP, When I have a sale, I call it value village. I want it gone. My last sale covered 6, 6ft tables. 2 long extension ladders, fishing poles, reels, tackle boxes, Cross bow with cade and artows wrought iron tables, the ladders where all carhartt jackets, short sleeve, long sleeve, vests. Seriously I had the coats, lined & unlined 8.00 each, vests 5.00 shirts 3.00. I was putting bundles together , I wanted everything gome. New still packaged mens moisture wicking breifs 3.00 a package, l did't get rich, but it paid for lunch for 5 helpers& myself. Liquids, chips. Bonus everything was sold. I made close to 450.00 not including the lunches. Goal met !!!
I'm feeling a wee bit guilty. I have 2 tool chests, full of high grade craftsman tools. Complete sets, wrenches, sockets, etc. I'm actually going to look them up, I need them gone and being used by someone who needs them. All vintage, all clean. It's a huge job, they're not losing value. They're just be waiting for me. I have several friends who will have first choice & special prices. They were my Dad's. He with God in his forever home. He would want them to be used. Pay it forward!!!!
the answer to the " make me an offer " is always always $1 bob !! they ALL know what they want, they just want someone to say something higher then they have in mind, once he said " i gotta get atleast a buck twenty five " my response would have been they why not just say that or mark it ?
I've had the same thing happen to me at sales where they won't give you a price and say make an offer. Almost every time in that situation they want retail prices. I dont even give them offers anymore and just walk away! I can't sell and buy your item at the same time.
Same. I've had people flat out refuse to say a price for something they are trying to sell, it's so bizarre. I just walk away. They must think there's a chance you will offer more than the over the top price they have in mind.
I find people think they can just get full eBay value for something at a yard sale. Why would someone pay that wouldn’t they just find a better deal on eBay you have to come down in price it’s a yard sale not an eBay store like the videos man 👍
J At 13:40 you missed a nice vintage Luxman R-3055 stereo receiver. Goes for about 300-350, if working of course. I deal in vintage and hi-end Audio. Also repair my own electronic equipment. Can't get them all i guess.
😳😩 OMG! That Red album boxed is one of the rarest TS finds!! You just missed out on a holy grail, look up the comps on that … or maybe don’t. I’m crying inside that someone had that sitting for $40.😭🫶🏽
@@brandonp5019 if I was CP I when he got on his laptop to look up prices I would have pulled out my phone and comped everything myself right in front of him.
If you want eBay prices for your crap, then you sell it on eBay! Some of these people are just crazy asking that much! I also despise when I’m looking at something and someone else comes up and starts looking through what I am! Wait your damn turn! Some people need to learn proper garage sale etiquette!
Whenever someone says, "Make me an offer," I smile and politely joke that they dont want me throwing out the first number because it's going to be loooooooow.
I really dislike when I go to garage sales and get the response "what do you offer?" and get all offended when you throw out a number. First of all it's a garage sale not an eBay store and why do you not throw a number if you already have something in mind.... Sorry had to rant because I run into these ppl all the time but great video for being super positive, my response would have been different for that guy with the helmets.
