I get chills everytime I see this video. I must have watched over 100 times on it's own and a few dozen times with someone reacting to it. This song from Led Zepplein IV was released when I was in Jr. High back in 1971, I've been a fan for some 50 years now. As for Heart Ann & Nancy have said many time that Led Zeppelin was a major influence on them early on in their career. I saw Heart back in 1977 in August, The date was the 16th, the day Elvis died, and to close out their show they played Zeppelin's "Rock n Roll" and dedicated it to the King.
The drummer was Jason Bonham, the original drummer's son. (John "Bonzo" Bonham) Imagine playing that song in front of Zeppelin. Even rock legends like Heart had to be thinking about it. They slayed it, though, and got standing ovations from Zeppelin. The rush must had been intense. Have a great day.
Two things Lizzie; This version of this performance is the super cut and edited one, a couple verses, chorus and transitions were cut out in this video and imo took away the flow of emotions of the full performance of Heart. There is a full version I suggest watching. Secondly, before you watch the full version of Heart's performance I HIGHLY suggest listening to the original LZ studio song, it will give you a better understanding when watching the Heart performance. Stairway to Heaven from both bands needs to be enjoyed in it's fullest glory, uncut and unedited, trust me it'll be even more awesome. I am. I am dead sick of this song, Free Bird, and Hotel California. I don't care who is performing them. They were overplayed throughout the course of my life, and I, quite frankly, have had my fill. You can add Born in the U.S.A., Bad to the Bone, Achy-Breaky Heart, Beat It, I've Got Friends in Low Places, Silent Lucidity, Whip It, and Gangster's Paradise to that list as well.
@@garyowens7454 I agree with the overplay, if I ever hear another song by Queen I will gag. Fortunately tho bands like Heart can and did give us a chance to hear this so called ' overplayed ' song a twist that can be quite pleasant and entertaining to hear and view. Ditto. I hate it when they react to this version; it cuts out an ENTIRE verse, and it’s a good verse too. Still it’s epic but the full version is so much better.
1st, You have Amazing eyes. wow. Okay I was in the 8th grade when Led Zeppelin released Stair way to Heaven. It was a game changer, Heart version with the back up singers was outstand, And you can tell when members Of Zeppelin are fighting back tears
Everything about this is Amazing! One of my favs for sure. I don't feel anyone could have could have sang this better than Ann Wilson (2012 i believe)and she's in her early 60s in this performance! Talk about "Bringing it Home" at the end!? I get the chills Everytime. Liz if you ever want to listen to Live performers that sound just as good as they did 40+ year ago. Heart and David Gilmore(with or without Pink Floyd) is where it's at!Your boy Phil Collins had a hell of a run too! ;)
My girlfriend, who passed away 5 years ago, and I used to watch this performance quite regularly, and I was always the first one (and sometimes the only one) to cry. To me, this incredible performance is emotionally overwhelming .... wow

I agree! Ann's voice is amazing! She can sing anything! She did some really plbrautiful balads like "Sweet Darling" and the cover to "Tell it like it is" and also some of the coolest blues "Down on me" and "Devil Delight" (this last one from the barracuda album)
Never go into a music store, try a new guitar and start playing Stairway to Heaven. The techs will stop you on the spot. A one-of-a-kind song not allowed to be covered. Wilsons certainly did this cover justice. I’d love to hear a version of Alone sung by Robert Plant. So great to see Lizzie posts. She’s one of a kind too.

Just a note. I saw Heart in '77. I was still in high school. They had just gone national. They started out in the Seattle/Vancouver area as a Zep cover band. Will always be a huge fan, for decades now.
I can tell it blew your mind, and to share in that experience, it blew mine as well........ And I was surprised how easily she carried the feel and emotion of this iconic song. Simply brilliant.........

The guy on drums is the son of LZ drummer John Bonham who sadly is no longer with us. I hope I did not misspell his name. Thanks for your heart felt (no pun intended) reaction. I know you don’t know, but you got short changed with this upload. It’s an edited version of the original performance; it cuts out a full verse. I know you were blown away by this but watch the full version and get blown away even more.
Listening to the original studio version should have been mandatory before reacting to this, because then you will have a full appreciation of this moment in time.... this is one of the best dedication performances for a All Time Great band...The Mighty Led Zeppelin ! I saw their Stairway tour in New Orleans and as they were exiting the US caught them again in Madison Square Gardens. I remember this performance with Heart on TV? Pretty 😎

Going to suggest to react to The Band RUSH. Starting with the song (2112) Playing the complete version of the song. Using the studio version recording from the album titled (2112) I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the lyric's And maybe blown away by the music being played. The song is around 20 mins long & has different section's which all blend into 1 song. I totally get and respect the want for reactors to do that 100% without any previous knowledge or experience with a song. However, IMO this particular performance needs the knowledge of the original song so you can experience how good this is. Also, other important factors for this performance to know while watching are that the original band members are watching, the original drummer's son is playing his dad's drum-kit and he is lead singer Robert Plant's god-son.
this is now in the trinity of Stairway to Heaven...the original studio version....the live version...and now this Heart rendition.... And The O'Jays have a song with the same title but completely different song, a legendary R&B track.
I vote that you listen to the original version not the live version but the one that they play on the radio because it sounds better Yesssssss that's my vote

This was a grand performance, no doubt about that. After hearing the original probably thousands of times, this cover was a pleasure to watch. I have watched a whole lot of reactions to this cover, and you are the first that had absolutely no reaction to seeing former President Obama and Michelle in the audience LOL. You are one of a kind for sure. The original is good, check out a live version for your review, and be sure to listen to the studio version in your spare time, all are excellent.
