Motivation wise, Vincent got Neil to sit down with him for a cup of coffee so that Vincent could psychologically profile him. When Neil mentions that there is someone else in his life despite being a loner, Vincent makes a mental note of it. So when he's at the hotel and sees Eady waiting in the car by herself, he hones in and catches Neil coming out after killing Waingro.

Ah, one of my favorite movies. 22:50 Robert de Niro wanted the coffee shop scene to be "organic," so neither he nor Al Pacino rehearsed it. 28:05 In a lot of movies, the sound effects of the gunshots are added in-studio; think John Wick, for example. The gunshot audio in the shootout scene was taken from the area where the scenes were shot, because Michael Mann wanted the gunfire to sound the way it would have in real life (including the lingering echoes). Great reaction! Keep it up!

39:22 I don't think Neil walked away from Eady in order to protect her. He said he was _never going back_ (meaning jail). It's exactly as Neil's been saying, you have to be willing to walk away. And that's what he was doing. And he was true to his word. 41:21 The well-known phrase is actually, _"there is _*_no_*_ honor among thieves."_ Meaning they'll steal from everybody *and each other.¹* Delightful reaction, as always. 😎👍 Have you seen *Singing in the Rain?* 🌂 Be well you two! 🙋🏼‍♂️ ··•✺•·· ¹ ─ Doesn't quite apply here with this film. I was just sharing the actual phrase.

Great reaction to a good movie! You guys are a great reaction team! PS: De Niro: "The King Of Comedy" / Pacino: "Dog Day Afternoon". Also "Donnie Brasco". And, of course, if you're doing mob movies, you have to do "Goodfellas" and "Casino", but maybe you've seen them already, but next to the Godfather, those are the gold standard of mob movies. After you see those, you can see "The Irishman" which reunites Pacino and De Niro together, with Joe Pesci. It's best to see "Goodfellas" and "Casino" first, though.

This has been on my Top 5 movies EVER since it came out! It's amazing! They don't really show it well in the movie but both Vincent and Detective Hannah are "brothers" as they're former Marines. Brothers for life. I think that's part of the reason they have that touching moment at the end. Also... they're opposite sides of the same coin... they understand each other.

Thank you so much for this entertaining reaction and your wonderful energies! With time, I believe it will become even clearer how well-made and well-written this classic truly is compared to movies in the same genre. For a slightly more fast-paced good guys vs bad guys classic (where things, again, are not black and white), I highly suggest the Brazilian (don't worry, it's WORTH IT!) movie Elite Squad, originally titled Tropa De Elite. It stars Wagner Moura, who later became known for playing Pablo Escobar in the series Narcos. It's a true gem.

One of the top movies in the last 50 years. A bit of trivia, this movie served as inspiration for the 1997 North Hollywood Shootout bank robbers. Things didn't end for them any better; but that's another story. Vincent and Neil are essentially the same person. It's a major undertone of the movie. These are two equally driven men that exist on opposite sides of the law; organized, proficient and consumed by their profession to the point of obsession. Neil alludes to this during their face to face talk with his line "there's a flip side to that coin." The character is referring to the inevitable confrontation between the two of them but the subtext is that they themselves are the opposite sides of that coin. There are other examples in the movie such as the final image of the film showing a figurative and literal connection between the two men (similar to the ending of Glory).

The greatest Micheal Mann! All his films must be watched! Starting with Thief! Then Manhunter ..2nd movie in the Hannibal lecktor series after dressed to Kill but before Silence of the Lambs. His use of style, cutting edge characters, fast paced edits, and 80s style electronic music is unmistakable! Ironic parts? One of Pacino's cops is buffalo bill from Silence, and wheelchair guys is the Tooth fairy from Manhunter!😮😮😮. The shootout and retreat scene in the streets, the Army and Marines have been using it for decades, on how to teach soldiers how to break an ambush! Robert in godfather 2, Al in all 3! Val kilmer wanted the part so bad, to work with Micheal Mann and DeNiro and Pacino, he said, I'll do it for no money, as long as I'm on the poster with both of them! Tom sizemore from Saving Private Ryan, the black dude driver from a bunch of movies and the killer TV, multi series drama,24! The young girl was in Leon the Professional, and star wars, Danny Trejo hadn't been out of prison too long, then he gets this movie! The long haired ponytail guy, John Voight, been in too many movies, like the first Mission Impossible, midnight cowboy, Deliverance, been in too many movies, like the first Mission Impossible, and is Anjolina Jolie's Dad! This movie is top ten all time, cops robbers thievery shoot em up movie! It's also the first time, Pacino and DeNiro had scenes together! Black dude in the club is Tone Loc! The guy who made the noise inside the truck is Stephen Ford, president Ford's son and also in Blackhawk Down and so is Tom Sizemore! The guy Pacino is interrogating inside the warehouse room is Hank Azarria, he does most of the voices on The Simpsons!😮😮. I think Kilmer did this movie for free or scale, for 2 reasons. 1, to do a movie with DeNiro and Pacino. 2, he wanted to be in the movie poster with them! The guy who tried to have DeNiro killed is in the cult classic, Go! And Also in Blackhawk Down!😮😮😮 His assistant is Henry Rollins, founding member of the late 70s punk rock band, Black Flag!😮😮😮 Pacino's line, "She's got a great ass! And u got ur head, all the way up in it!" Was add-libbed, and why Hank Azarria's face is in total shock! The black dude cop is Bubba in Forrest Gump!
