People like to discredit it because the Cavs 2nd best player was Timothy Mozgov since Kyrie and Kevin Love were both hurt. You’re acting like those are just some role players missing, when they’re the Cavs 2nd and 3rd best players having LeBron to carry and make up over 60% of the Cavs offense were was from him scoring or setting up a teammate to score. As well as the Warriors without KD we’re still an elite team and were healthy up until the final minutes of Game 6 (Having their original core of players since 2010). Compared to 2015 with the Cavs players not being there the entire series, that’s a big difference. Before Klay got hurt Toronto went up 3-1 on the Warriors. FMVP isn’t something anyone deserves just like a title isn’t given out cause you deserve it. That goes for Chris Paul too, he has to earn it and that blowout against Dallas showed why he still isn’t a champion. You earn it, up until now Curry wasn’t the best player on the floor to win him a FMVP.

@@doctorsam5771 then again 2020 made no difference to LeBrons legacy it just added +1 to his championship total. The 2015 one for curry prior to winning this one was the only one without kd so it was his only chip without a superteam but he won it while the cavs missed their 2nd and 3rd best players while being a team that really wasn't that deep. Due to that curry had a huge asterisk on all of his championships while other players in the top 10 who got easy ring at the very least had that one series where they won a hard fought championship while curry got his first 3 pretty easily

I disagree, 2018 finals was much more debatable on who deserved the FMVP. Steph had better stats than Durant in 3 out of the 4 games but KD had the more memorable performance in game 3 which I believe is the only reason why he got it and Curry only had 11 points in that game 3. Plus people never seem to want to talk about gravity. Did people see defenders running to Steph on fast breaks and then KD gets a wide open waltz to the hoop for a dunk? 2015, the Cavs lost Love in the playoffs and Kyrie got hurt during overtime in game 1. Sure the Cavs went up 2-1, but they were also blown out due to fatigue (seriously Dellavadova was admitted to the hospital after game 3 due to severe cramps). Was this the same team that lost in 2016, sure was. And that's ok. If anything, this was a more deserving team than 2015 because we've seen that when Steph was by himself, they got into the play-in. Was this a better team than 2017 and 18? No, but I think they were better than the great 16 team. That was an all time squad. They are going scary next year. With Wiseman coming back he could be huge on defense. But they had just enough to win it this year. When they lost in 2019 I was devastated especially because of how it happened all the injuries. But we are back on top of the mountain. As for Steph Curry I think we can comfortably put him in the top 10 at this point. Mind you he is only going to increase his accolades from this point onward. Another way of looking at this would be to say we consider this the LeBron Jame Era yet Steph Curry has 4 titles and Six Finals appearances 1 Finals MVP, 2 MVPs. Can't we argue he has been just as dominate? If you were in the Western Conference Steph Curry was your nightmare fuel. You had to get the past the Warriors to even think of winning a title. Much in the same way the Spurs and Tim Duncan terrorized the Western Conference and usually the final thing teams saw before their season ended. So me his greatness... we can't deny it anymore."

I'm still confused by the folks who say Curry doesn't perform in the finals or even think his performance is shaky. 2015 - 26 ppg, 2016 - 22.6 ppg (his lowest, on that 73 win team and as folks hate to admit, he got injured early in the playoffs against houston and it hampered him), 2017 w/Durant - 26.8 ppg, 2018 w/Durant - 27.5 ppg, and 2019 - 30.5 ppg. Now 2022 - 31.2 ppg. Those numbers are better than most that played in the finals.

I'm from Palo Alto, and I discovered basketball at the age of 6, over the winter of 1995 to 1996. I attended my first Warriors game in January, 1996, and I was hooked. We weren't very good. We didn't make the playoffs until I was almost 16 with the We Believe Warriors. I really thought that squad, knocking off a #1 seed in an upset that wasn't really an upset (we dominated the Mavs the whole season. They matched BADLY against us. We were their worst nightmare) was as good as it would ever get. All I ever wanted from the time I was 6 years old was to see the Dubs win the championship. JUST ONCE I said. That's all I want. Just one. When the Giants won the World Series in 2010, my Dad, huge baseball dork, was wiping tears, and when he hugged me he said "it's worth the wait." He was right. When they won in 2015, I couldn't believe how happy I was. That's all I ever wanted. BUT, it's addictive. Winning is. Start the next season with a historic run, finish 73-9.. and then lose in the Finals after being up 3 to 1. Dagger to the heart. THEN we get Kevin Durant, and everyone hates us. Every day some piece of shit calls me a "bandwagon" fan on Twitter and bitches about Kevin Durant when they cheer for the Lakers or the Heat or Lebron's team to be determined. The first time in 70+ year-old franchise's history we signed a marquee free agent and everyone hated us for it. I didn't care. We won twice more. Fuck all them. They were just jealous. Then everyone got hurt, we lost to Toronto, and then KD left and we finished dead last. Yea, there were bandwagon fans, and they disappeared. But I watched it all, heartbroken and hopeful. When Steph got really hurt and Klay got re-injured in a pick-up game, a really bad ACL tear, it felt like our window had slammed shut. Getting Andrew Wiggins felt like a desperation move. But, that's old hat for me. I love the sport and I love the Golden State Warriors, and that love never hinged on them winning. So this one? 2022? It doesn't seem possible that feeling 2015 gave me could be topped, but this one does by several multiples. It's the best. This is the one that puts the franchise above other champions. More than Bird's Celtics, or Hakeem's Rockets, or the Willis Reed Knicks. This puts us in the pantheon. We're not just champions anymore. We're a dynasty. It's the one that solidified Steph Curry as a top-10 all-time player. It gave us great stories of redemption, especially for Andrew Wiggins and Gary Payton II, who have now shaken the BUST label for good. We won before Kevin Durant, and we won after. He needed us. We didn't' need him. For the first time in my lifetime, nobody picked us to win, and we won anyway. Even better: I couldn't attend games from 2005 onward because I struggled badly with photosensitive epilepsy. I didn't see the We Believe team in person. I didn't see us beat Dallas. I wasn't there in 2017 to see us clinch the title. But, I just overcame it, and I had season tickets to see it all. I was there live to see us eliminate all the Western teams. The little girl who fell in love with the sport of basketball, who thought she missed her chance to see their title run live, got to see her team play in the NBA Finals, live in and person. When we won Game 2, there it was. I got to see the Warriors win a game of the NBA Finals. I'm not sorry that we didn't win at home. I know now what people who cheer for teams that don't win never find out: when you're a champion, you don't need to be there to see it. You feel it. 2022 was the best. Thank you so much Golden State. This was a dream season for me! The happiest I've ever been in my sports-watching lifetime!

@cheetah219 Год назад
I think another reason why this means so much is that this chip was literally anyones to win. Parity in the league hasnt been this high in years. Bucks, heat, lakers, celtics, warriors, nets, 76ers (esp. If simmons played), nuggets, suns, mavs. All these teams are genuinely either one piece away from winning it all or one injury away from crashing. Warriors won because of a discrete combination of depth, coaching, OGs and youngsters, underdog players, and luck. the storyline of klay coming back and not knowing what kind of player he would become and obviously green being washed up. But, if the warriors didnt have all these stars align (looney underrated, wiggins all star, poole becoming curry 2.0, GP2 signed and playing as if hes 5 inches taller) they would have lost. They were genuinely one injury away from losing. People may say they saw this coming, but all of things did have to go right for this to happen. It was said esrlier in the season that the team who wins this year may not be the most talented, but the most healthy. And in some ways, this is true. Yes, the talent is inarguable, but the warriors did escape these playoffs relatively unscathed compared to years past (ligament tears, concussions, sprained ankles, broken foots, knee sprains) If Timelord had both knees, things could have been a bit different...but doesnt change how tatum was absolutely locked down
@HistorymakerD

I see your point but their success was more due to their HARD work than it was luck. I think this years warriors could beat any healthy team you throw at them. @cheetah219
@cheetah219 Год назад
I think you honed in too much on the luck part of my comment. I definitely gave credit to the effort the team put in and development. But to respond to your comment about luck..., winning a chip definitely has an element of luck. No amount of hard work was going to prevent KD / Klay losing their limbs in their last chip run. Injuries in playoffs are a very real thing since the beginning of basketball and theyre unpredictable (paul george snapping his ankle on half) The mental game is also just as important and finding ways to persevere. Good examples are knicks using willis reed for motivation, jordan knowing he needs kerr to take the last shot, lakers beating the kings on a still controversial finals, klay coming back from concussion, AI literally playing a finals with nearly every limb injured and still dominating...and so much more Warriors saw potential on wiggins, poole, gp2 but there was no guarantee these guys were going to all buy in. Look at dlo and bazemore who didnt 100% buy in and warriors really struggled even with a semi healthy curry (people forget the dude had a smashed broken hand). Again, there was no guarantee or effort that could make sure klay comes back from two years off from two massive injuries and curry also having a mcl sprain a few finals ago. Bucks didnt have middleton, lowry wasnt 100% and was off/on the court, and still took the celtics far, etc. I dont think there's a single nba champion who would disagree that there always is an element of luck because A LOT has to go right. If winning a chip was 100% based on effort, then this isnt a surprise and this isnt a chip. Its a "who worked the hardest" award, which isnt always the case (i.e lakers bubble chip). Its why people put astericks on chips in the first place Warriors coaching staff have also been recruited left and right for assistant and head positions, plus even if i go further back, before mark Jackson's firing, kerr WAS going to sign to coach the knicks since phil jackson came over. No guarantee they were going to find the right minds to replace them These are all different ways that no matter how hard one works, there is always an element of luck
@HistorymakerD
@HistorymakerD Год назад
@@cheetah219 You can say there's an element of luck in some things, but in a championship like this one, it's more about the hard work put in by these incredible athletes, the coaches and management (owners) staff. You don't just luck out of coming back from the type of injuries Klay sustained; you work hard to become a valuable player. Wiggins didn't stumble on some magic beans before the season to become the best two-way player in the playoffs. The Warriors winning the 2022 championship is one of the most feel-good stories in recent history right up there with the Milwaukee Bucks in the year prior and both share the same criteria and that's they won it all with homegrown players.

Murray and Porter are coming back to help Jokic with the Nuggets. Also hopefully PG13 and Kawhi will both be 100% next season for the Clippers. The Lakers are just up in the air for me right now. Steven Adams will hopefully be healthy for Memphis. He only played a few minutes during the playoffs. Houston, Portland, and OKC going through rebuild. Zion will hopefully be back with the Pelicans.

Just when everyone thought it was the end of the championship warriors steph having injuries and klay out. Remember saying that season it was over just seeing other teams stack up people saying nets and lakers in the finals east and west getting stronger, This championship was truly a special one for the warriors. Im no warrior fan but Once everyone was back and healthy on that roster and just seeing drey , klay and steph their first game together i got the same feel when drose first return since acl it was very emotional. Gotta give credit to the people behind everything their front office, coaching, training staff , medical they got the best of the best to keep this team like a championship team. The scary part about this too is there only getting started again , they will be back in the finals again and again. This warriors team going to have a documentary soon when its all said and done just like the bulls had once in last dance. May not have witnessed the jordan bulls dominate but glad that i have witness this as basketball fan seeing the warriors win championships and the best shooter ever.

What hits me is that there are so many high quality players that just needs the right role to succeed. The warriors run this year is also amazing because it really gives hope to many "lost causes", and shows the other organizations that you have to make best use of what you have. This is the best basketball league in the world where the best basketball players gathered. So many stories it almost like it's a fairy tale

The thing your mentioning is saying LeBron should have jeopardized his career because he wasn't lucky enough to be drafted by the warriors or the Celtics or the spurs. Being 'loyal' is a double edged sword if your lucky you end up in the best situation you could possibly be in but if your not you waste good years of your career because you weren't drafted to the right team

As a Heat fan, I’m proud of Golden State. They really put the pieces together this season and build around Curry, Thompson, and Green. This was by far their best championship season in recent years. I don’t know why people buried their 2015 run just because Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving were out and LeBron had to carry the team by himself. Proof that LeBron really needs another star help to win him a championship. While Golden State built around their guys, besides 2017, and 18 when KD was like a mercenary to help them win more. Miami, we gotta get superstars to join the team to help win us championships. That’s why we really never had top picks in the draft besides Dwyane Wade, Bam Adebayo, and Tyler Herro who is rumored to be traded for another star to join Jimmy in Miami. But anyway, I was impressed with the Warriors run and they were shadowed these last 2 years and got back on top again with no help of Kevin Durant. Congratulations to them on winning their 7th franchise championship.

BS, KD did not out played Steph in the those finals. You cannot out play someone who step aside to let someone else shine. If that's case Steph would have never been able to be Steph again.
