@@50potatoesnot quite. The shulker with the potato went missing. Pearl found the minecart with the Mumbo stamp that was supposed to have the potato shulker, but it wasn't there. As of the end of Pearl's episode, we don't know what happened yet
For those wondering how pluto escaped: My best guess, as someone who's worked with mob pathfinding, is that Pluto can't see which side of a block a trapdoor is on. He just knows there's a closed trapdoor there. He also doesn't know the carpet is there, just the berry underneath. Since the space just one block above him is a space that he thinks he could walk on (again, he just knows the trapdoor is there, not the orientation), he sees it as a viable space to walk through. As for why he thinks he can walk upside-down on the ceiling, I think that has to do with how mobs pathfind through the y direction, and how horses dont need to jump to go up one block. Normally, a mob will only go a certain direction if they know they won't have to go up more than one block at a time or fall too far. I think when the horse pathfinds onto the carpet, it sees it as a "scaled" block, i.e. it thinks its on top of a full block. Then, since they can go up 1.2 blocks (trapdoor height), AND they dont know where the trapdoor is in a space, they see themself as on top of the trapdoor block, and able to freely walk through. I also think this is why Pluto runs out of the carpeted area, he thinks he's suffocating in the block above the trapdoor and tries to get out. Unfortunately, Java code is kind of funky, so i think this is just a weird culmination of different intended behaviors.
Idea for the permit office: a waiting area with “outdated magazines on tables” (i.e. books in item frames) but labeled with references to old series/videos, like “Build Swap Monthly,” “Rustic Cottages from Around the World,” “Minecraft Trees for Noobs,” and “Evo Quiz: Is Your BFF a Potato or a Watcher?” Another way to annoy permit customers is to have them take a number, which is ridiculously high, and say, “Now serving number 2. Does anyone have number 2? OK, number 3? Is there a number 3?”
Permit office should have a mailbox too. Imagine spamming everyone with late payment notices and the amount of complexity it would add to all paperwork in the office.
In one of my old worlds, me and my then-girlfriend had a horse that was similarly stinky. We named it "Do Not Trust This Horse," because it just had a sinister vibe and you could swear it was plotting your downfall. One day, he got loose, and for the longest time we couldn't find him anywhere. Then one day we just see him at the top of the hill overlooking our house, looking down on us menacingly. Do not trust that horse.
Mumbo and Iskall end-busting: Many-hours-long, highly competitive poscast-like session ultimately resulting in them clearing dozens of end cities and taking home ten elytra and many hundreds of shells Grain and Gem end-busting: Alright we each got an elytra and a stack of shells let's get outta here
Pearl: “Why are you trying to break the post system!?” Grian: “I didn’t break anything.. I didn’t try to break anything, I tried to send mumbo a lovely letter that’s what I tried to do..” :( Pearl: MAJOR SIGH
Griannn - shop idea - Big rotting tree stump with bracket fungus growing from it. There are some super cool looking varieties (like the beefsteak fungus which actually bleeds, or turkey tail which can sometimes be almost rainbow effect). You could even moss that badboy up and with a little localised terraforming, maybe add some blossoms for spores, and some subtle shroom lighting in the floor to illuminate from below and make it kinda magical at night... could maybe be a bit more interesting and less predictable than 'a mushroom' whilst still on theme?
Yes, Grian. Sending mail to your immediate neighbor through the actual postal system is a bad way to go about things. Growing up in a small suburb in New Jersey we would frequently send mail to people out of state and they would get it the next day or the day after. Cards to neighbors on the same street typically took four days.
I'm so in love with the fact that Grian used a potato to show that it was harder to break this system than Sahara. And then broke this system with the exact same tool as he broke Sahara.
@arandompersonwhoisrandom3985 he didn't actually use the potato as the stamp (destination). He actually uses it correctly. It's a mystery where the potato has gone tho.
@@studocwhoYou are correct, but it's not a mystery where the potato has gone! Pearl herself said in this episode that it was in a hole in the Nether, and that's the exact truth. I don't remember who's episode in was shown in (probably Etho or Tango's?), but there is a lost & found system (and by system I mean literally just a hole) that parcels end up in if the system cannot read the stamp properly. And since Mumbo didn't have a working mailbox yet, the postal system didn't read the Mumbo stamp as a proper stamp, thus it was labeled as a 'lost parcel'. EDIT: Turns out I misunderstood the comment, just ignore me lol.
@@Hinterlindz while you're not incorrect, when pearl went looking for the lost potatopackage, she found just the minecart with the stamp. The shulker with potato is just gone
It's even funnier with Polish autotranslate, somehow. [GRIAN] Co?! Śmierdzący! [IMPULSE] Ach, to jest błąd. Znalazłeś błąd! [GRIAN] [więcej sfrustrowanych dżwięków] [więcej bardziej sfrustrowanych dżwięków]
Y’know, Grian doesn’t refer to himself as a ‘builder’ which is insane. Just because THE BDOUBLE O from Building with BDubs happens to be on the server doesn’t mean you’re not a builder! Gri u inspire me for everything building wise❤
The permit team should go around and ask shops to include goofy things occasionally (like having a permit on display at all times, or having complementary bread) or enforce property standards like an HOA (ie: The Fence is one block too high, or the grass is too tall (after the grass was bonemealed))
The reason the post was slow going to Gem was because she’s just before you in the system. Your letter had to do a lap of the server to get there - her reply would be almost instant
@@deadalpeca8099That would require a much more complex transportation network in the nether hub as you don't want multiple minecarts bumping into each other
Absolutely love that everyone’s reaction to sending their first practice parcel is “can we go over and see if it worked?! :DDD” and Pearl’s just exhausted “what’s the point of sending mail if you’re gonna go over to them anyway 😩”
Today's Fact: In 1973, a man named Major Summerford was struck by lightning; years earlier, he had been struck by lightning three more times in different parts of the world.
7:30 The trap doors make the AI ignore pathing restrictions, so that mobs will walk into traps, but It is weird, that it also works when the trap door is above the mob and not only when it is below it.
I havent seen anybody mention this so far, I love how he has made fun codes for the permits. Scar: MJYAAFK06 = Mumbo Jumbo You Are AFK Season 06 Joel: MRVSHEP07 = Mycelium Resistance VS Hep Season 07
The better question is not "how did Grian break another redstone system," but rather, "why are they selling stamps for hermits who don't have boxes yet?"
If anyone wants to know why all the horses bolt for the mountain. It's because passive mobs are programed to favor going up to prevent them from constantly trying to get piled up in caves. The mountain is the only elevation change around them so they want to go up.
13:22 - "You've got mail!" "That predates even me..." Then you should learn the correct response! When it says "You've got mail!", the correct response is "Hey! I've got mail!"
I have a FANTASTIC idea for the mushroom shop that isn't just a big ole mushroom (admittedly that is what I thought of first as well) The design is as follows: Set up a ring of small red and brown mushroom, maybe use the nether varieties as well, making it around 10 blocks in diameter? A sculk sensor will detect when anyone is within the boundary of the "fairy ring", and opens a hole in the ground, dropping the future customer into a (maybe?) fantasy themed shop! Lichen, glowberries, hanging roots... the works.
I primarily watch Joel, Gem, and Grian's hermitcraft videos, and its so inspirational and intriguing to see how each builder _builds_ . Grian dumps blocks onto a platform and then carves it into something he's pleased with. Gem creates a structure and a ROOF before filling everything in. Joel plans it out in advance with precision and then splatters on detail like he's picking colors from a color wheel
I watch gem, grian, pearl, scar, and skizz. I agree with gem and grian and pearl and scar are such good builders then skizzes way of building is so different. Its interesting to see a bunch of builders and compare it to a newer builder
14:52 When Etho made the stamps and gave them to Pearl they talked about making batches of specific people’s stamps, (rather than boxes with a bit of everyone) because they knew Grian would buy all of the Mumbo ones.😂😂😂
life series idea: "Love life" where you take damage if another certain person takes damage if you get damaged both you and your admirer will take damage. The person that is your admirer will change each episode. if the person you’re in love with dies you stay at half a heart for the rest of the episode and you CANT heal.
8:20 cool trick you could do is whenever a build extends into water, you could change the stripped spruce to stripped dark oak so the wood can look like it’s gettin wet when it enters the water.
12:59 … grrr… ok in my defense I saw Pearl’s video and just went with the idea in my head. Had I known Grian named the Potato “Better Than Sahara” I would have done the same… Maybe the Rift altered it. -- Ok also, no you used the mailbox correctly. Except Mumbo doesn’t have a mailbox yet so he can’t receive mail.
Gem and Grian's "sibling energy" is really strong this season! I am now realizing that we didn't see even _nearly_ enough interaction between them in previous seasons. XD
I love that Pearl, Tango, or Etho called it that Grian would need a mega Mumbo bundle for stamps xD They should have known to get Mumbo online before Grian.
Pop-up/temporary shop idea: Grow a giant mushroom in the shopping district and swap out one or two of the stem blocks for white shulkers. Make sure not to use the post office shulkers by mistake.
Ironically, Grian sending mail to Gem takes the longest of anyone, even though they're neighbors, because the minecart has to go all the way around the nether loop just to get to back to her. That also means that Gem->Grian is the fastest (for her mailbox)

@@CriticalCipherhe followed a tutorial AND changed it a little to make it work in the server* i think most people know hes not very well-versed in redstone so the fact that he managed to come up with a solution for the problem he was having is pretty impressive and he SHOULD be proud :)
I desperately need someone to animate the clip of Grian floating around and shooting arrows at shulkers very skillfully while having such a casual and somber conversation 😂
One of my friends showed me a mushroom farm that, you would never guess, uses a HORSE. Farm designers are absolutely insane these days. I could never in my life come up with a minecraft farm that requires you to sit on a horse.
When you said a horse I thought you meant a horse inside the redstone circuitry and the thought of a horse somehow being used for a redstone circuit is hilarious
Minecraft AI works in the way that the entities choose a random block in a cube around them and then take the highest block in the block's column and traverse to that block. That means they have higher probability to run to top of hills as there is more blocks in that direction (higher elevation = more blocks below). That's why Pluto loves the mountain. ^_^
having seen pearl's vid before this one, finding out that he did in fact do the mail system properly and the potato just... vanished? is insane. i really thought he had to have swapped the stamp and the potato somehow
I'm guessing it had something to do with the "Everything's vanishing around me" right after that. Possibly the servers automatic culling system actually just deleting the shulker somehow?
@@unaminggaming The stamp arriving but not the box(and potato), and then the next send working fine is bizarre. As much as we joke about items lagging out of chests, they don't...although there is an elevator between where the shulker is broken and where it is inserted into its mailcart-minecart... There's a check at the terminal so it won't even send if there's no stamp or if the shulker is empty, and the mail stays in its shulker the whole ride, so the fact that Grian sent a potato is funny but shouldn't matter. (I'm not sure how that check works but it's probably just looking at the box as it sits there and using signal strength to ensure it won't break/send an empty shulker). The system loads both the stamp and shulker-mail down an elevator where they're loaded into a chest-minecart, and that gets sent through a portal into the nether loop. The system down there looks complicated but it's pretty straightforward: the minecart gets sent around the loop. As it goes along, it triggers a chunk loading system by passing over detector rails. Each mailbox station checks for its own stamp by the minecart running over a hopper with an item filter. If there's a match, the stamp will be sucked into the item filtered hopper, which signals the junction to divert the minecart, if there is no match, it continues on. The minecart also picks up a 'lost mail' stick as it passes the post office. If it reaches all the way around the loop without getting sucked up, the lost mail stick acts like a stamp at the lost mail station (right before the post office, aka it has made at least one complete circuit without being claimed). Properly sorted mail then gets delivered through its station's portal, the minecart being emptied and recycled, and the shulker and its contents ending up in a mailbox. The stamp ends up in the appropriate junction-checker, and the lost mail stick probably gets destroyed or recycled with the minecart for delivered mail, and ends up at the junction-checker for the lost mail station for lost mail. Since there is no Mumbo station, the stamp arriving is fine. But there really aren't many places where just the shulker could disappear! My best guess is that maybe an item filter wasn't set up properly--the way they work is that a hopper is filled to capacity with the target item (and often, for expensive items, a cheaper renamed "locking item" will be used to reach capacity) so the hopper can take in the target item but can't hold onto it (too full) and it's then sent through to something below. Maybe a newly installed filter was one item short of capacity, and the shulker got sucked into it, thereby filling the hopper to capacity so it couldn't make the same mistake for the next package sent?
@@AwildGwen even worse. A whole underground bunker with a snail production system and all that stuff. Like with weapons on the walls, a snail training center and 1 mission: Dominate the world
For the horse and trap doors mechanic around 7:40 the reason is base trap doors get read as an entity block in which is both also considered a block for mobs to walk on causing them to read it as a block they can bypass even when open (mob farms usually use this) also overriding certain perimeters of the base logistics from functioning as an override actions glitch.
I think what would be fun, is going around to all hermits who are selling items without a permit, and shut them down till they go to you to get one, once they have their permits they can reopen. Lol so put like red tape sorta idea around their shop till permit is granted.
We are gathered here today in memory of the late 'Rodney'. He was a good fishing rod, he was a great fishing rod. Goodbye Rodney. May you rest in fish.
All I’m saying is mumbo, Iskal, and Grian are very active this season. And there is a mail delivery service….. perfect time for Sahara 2.0….. idk Arctic? Complete same day delivery
Hey Grian, if you're not liking the way that the carpet makes a very recognizable square around Pluto, you could just place carpet around the borders of the square, make it fit in more.
Trapdoors are a bit of a special block for mob pathfinding, so I'm not surprised it has something to do with them. Mobs treat them as a block they can move through, regardless of whether they're open or closed.
Grian and the mailbox reminds me of old people and technology. "This is what I want it to do, and if it won't work exactly like this then what use is it?"
Grian heavily inspired be B-Dubs this season, and I’m all for it. Hopefully he’ll take a page from Etho too for interior. Becoming the ultimate builder
