That is so weird for a high school to represent one team/extra school activity and its that big and even worse Troy is WAY bigger than his teammates and its not even the full team.

i think hsm is a perfect example of something that people consider "bad" just because of what it is and the reputation it has, but is actually really good in terms of "it did what it set out to do" like when kelsey said how the songs and dances are exactly the sort of songs and dances that actual kids can preform themselves, imo that makes hsm a great movie!! they knew exactly who their target audience was and they wrote, choreographed, and composed it perfectly for them. tbh i think hsm is one of those pieces that media that people think is "bad" and also good as in enjoyable! clearly many people have a blast watching it even if they watch it again as adults, and it's not even that sort of ironic enjoyment that so many adults try to hide behind. if people have a genuine fun time watching it then i think that qualifies it as a genuinely good movie

Besides the Black girl hair issues with Monique Coleman I loved this movie but it also might be because I was 10 years old when it came out😁 Also, the Black girl was one of the more academic girls and that was not something I saw a lot of...

I was also "too old" when the first one came out, but I had a six year old brother at the time, so we would watch everything Disney. Then the year after I graduated, my high school did HSM and I naturally took my brother to watch it and my buddies took photos with him in character :)

Songs on musicals are made so that a character has so much emotion he can’t express it with voice the only he can do is sing. Since they I appreciate music in musicals so much more.

Just going to say as someone who avoided all of the High School Musicald for years and finally watched them in my job supporting kids High School Musical 2 is the best.

The actresses who play Gabriella and Sharpay are besties IRL. Vanessa posted a reel/video of them on her ig before lockdown last year iirc. Both of them released albums after the first movie and Vanessa even released a second one. Ashley Tisdale has gone more into directing and producing now and Vanessa is mainly modelling I think.

Kelsey going off about hats in high school hilarious to me. My high school was pretty lax on dress code altogether. But by junior/senior year, I wore a beanie DAILY. I found it even funnier b/c my friend wore a hat during band class b/c of a bad haircut and was told to take it off, meanwhile, I wore my beanie right behind him and was allowed to keep it on

Funny story about hats. When I was in middle school, I had to have surgery on my head. It left a pretty decent sized bald spot right after surgery (I still have it but it's super easy to hide). Well, since I had just had the surgery, my school allowed me to wear a hat because it was the easiest way to cover it up (plus I needed to protect that spot from the sun). Well, we were having lunch when a really bitchy middle school teacher barged up to me and demanded I take my hat off. My 2 best friends were about to defend me, but I just looked at them and they knew what I was thinking. I smiled, and looked directly at the teacher when I took it off. I then pointed to the spot where I had surgery (There were still stiches) and she just kept apologizing profusely. She felt so bad. When she walked away, my friends and I just started laughing. I should also say, this is a really small school, where everybody knows everybody's business. So the fact that she wasn't aware was kind of baffling

I was so deep in high school musical (at the perfect age of 7) that I had a tooth brush that played “we’re all in this together”
