High Uinta Highline - Day Five

Day five was another big day over another big mountain pass. We made camp at a little off trail lake where finding a spot to put two tents was difficult, but well worth it. The lake is home to large brook trout. This was one of my favorite days and camps on the Highline.

Dustin, you do such a nice job capturing your hikes and filming them. I feel like I’m right there with you. So enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work. Love the fishing as well.

Awesome that you found that old building. The trail is a bit to the North of the building, I could see it from the trail when I went through. Thanks for the close up look. I was too lazy to hike down to it. Nice catches out of that lake. The guys we talked to on the trail last year said no luck for them out of there. We did not stop there both years. Wow, you got some dandies out of there. Well done. I'll need to check it out next time. Great trip so far, Dustin. Have a great day.

It's funny you mention that. I've heard from a few others that there were little to no fish there. But that never seemed right being so far out there and off the trail. Now I know why, their protecting it, which is respectable. Fishing was phenomenal and some of the bigger brook trout I've seen in the High Uintas. They seemed to be holed up at a particular spot on the lake. Let me know when you go, I can't wait to visit this lake again.

@@thebackpackblazer3973 Sounds good. Protecting the gems. There are also a few in there I want to try in the next basin over but man it is a haul to get in there. I don't have your phone number anymore since you switched phones a long while back. I'll need to reach out to you another way.
