Thanks John! Sounds like we both like to mess with our bikes. Half the reason I enjoy them. Your mods sound great. See you around. Off to ride a long time on dirt roads for the cam.

Great to have you back! Boy, have you been busy. You should have designed the Scram for RE!

It's like you've turned it into a SCRAM. Looks cool. Nice work. I'm way to lazy to do much modification to my Himalayan until something gets in the way of my riding. I'm curious about what RU-vid has done that kept you from posting?

Hah! You’re right! With a bit better trail capability. But essentially so. Tinkering is a good stress reliever. Thanks!

Thanks! I agree. Simple look for a simple bike and my simple preferences. And i like the light and dash mounted to the fork to turn when the bars do.

Interesting modifications Ron! Looks like a scrambler without a doubt. Love the tires. Have to ride early here now due to heat.( Vegas) RE's do carry their heat😅.

Glad to see you back in action! I like the modifications and I got rid of my “beak” on day 1 because I didn’t see a purpose for it. Do you have a total weight loss calculation? I’m really interested in the TEC cam results, because I’m also in Colorado and changed to a 14 tooth front sprocket to give it better high elevation climbing ability. I did achieve that but am limited to cruising at 65 to keep rpm’s reasonable and maybe the cam would allow me to increase the sprocket size.
@swcoloradoadventures
@swcoloradoadventures Год назад
Me too! Thanks. I’m interested to see what happens. I saved the 15 tooth and the old chain so it’ll be an easy swap if I need to go the other direction. 300 miles of dirt road travel to bed the cam and I’ll let you know. Thanks again!

I have a 2021 Himalayan. I am very impressed with your DIY skills. I don't think I would be interested in doing the mods that you did to the headlight and instrument cluster but it is very cool that you were able to do this. I really like your new fender. I wouldn't remove my bird beak unless I could get a hold of that fender. I also like your hand guards but they don't perfectly match the paint on the tank. I bought the official Himalayan hand guards.

@swcoloradoadventures Год назад
Hey Gerald! Thanks for the comments. You’re totally right about the hand guards. They’re off a bit. Ah well. My original RE set we’re totally demolished on my first ride. I hit a bit of ice. I’m having fun playing around with it. I’m no customizer. Just a guy with a garage that has too much junk and curiosity. I just cut the plastic off at the right length and used that piece as a template for the angle for the new edge. Have fun and be safe with yours. Thanks!

I haven’t done one for tires specifically. I mention them a lot, but not like a review. Good idea though!

like it. how much weight did you loose?
@swcoloradoadventures
@swcoloradoadventures Год назад
I’m thinking about 20-25 lbs. haven’t weighed it all out yet. When I’m finishing it with the final brackets and design, m gonna make a video and have the weight handy. I’m Trying to decide if I wanna take off the center stand. Or maybe find a lighter alloy version if there is one.
@brianmapes6202
@brianmapes6202 Год назад
@@swcoloradoadventures might want to keep the center stand, they come in handy when issue come about
@swcoloradoadventures
@swcoloradoadventures Год назад
@@brianmapes6202 agreed. That’s why it’s still there. Ideally I would go with something lighter if possible. Another reason I got the Himalayan over the Scram. So, likely not gonna happen.

@@graymangw6016 once I actually land on the final design with the better clamps and stuff, I’ll do one with the details. I spent most of my time digging through the garage to figure out what would work and trying to figure out how to cut and grind.
