Phil Collins knew how to set up a song ...especially for this song. The build up is incredible.....leading up to that climactic moment! His drum set comes up from below! Lol. In the past there had been a malfunction and the drum set didnt come up. He said he had to jump down onto it and started playing! lol. I think that may be why there was a backup.

“….the bassist with the beard [hahaha]…just standing there….classic bassist emotions.” That’s the well known Mr. Leland Sklar. He lives in Pasadena, California. Yet he leaves home, traveling the world lending his talents on Phil’s tours since 1985. Since the 1980’s, he’s done recording session work all over the world….involved in over 2400 albums…not 2400 songs….2400 albums. He’s contributed to many motion picture and television show soundtracks. He’s toured with James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Carole King, Linda Ronstadt, Toto, Lyle Lovett, Tracy Chapman. By the way, that beard? He’s worn it that way since the 1970’s. Super nice guy.

I'm pretty sure the drum kit you saw on the first level before Phil started up the stairs was raised to meet him when he walked over to it on the second level.

So well-staged! AND performed. With all night sounds he seems to almost prowl around that stage. That adds to the mystery and suspense. The drum kit comes up from below. Phil laid down the drum machine pattern but the vocoder is being sung live by the keyboardist, Brian Cole. The crowd is so into it, going into unison clapping at the end when he takes his casual bow. Epic.

1) the other drum set is used for everything else he plays during the show. The one upstage is unique 4 this song. 2) the sticks are mainly on the floor toms when he plays. 3) see “montreaux” version for a more “raw” version and see there are not many aids to his voice. It’s pure power Cya

This song was right in the middle of the concert. Earlier there was a set that had 3 sets of drums. Such an amazing performance. So much better than the studio version.

Please don't narrate. You said you weren't going to break it up like the video but it was way more. Listen to the music - enjoy the differences. It's supposed to be an experience and you didn't let it be one. Please react if that is the type of content you want to create, not instruct. Sorry, wrote the first part before he even got on stage - it was so constant. Couldn't continue watching once you pointed out the audience was clapping along. Try watching SalvoG (RobSquad, even Anton Reacts) if you want an example of good reaction (not instruction videos). Goodluck on your channel.

The old bearded dude has been on stage more than any other performer. I read that he’s played with so many bands that he’s put in an insane amount of performance time. I’ve seen him with a number of bands.

If you watch it again the drums are missing with the long angle of the stage. It must be hydraulicly raised as he moves.

If u watch the entire concert phil was playing at a drum kit on ghe lower stage next to the other drummer. The drum kit for his drop is geared just for the drop. If u look there r no cymbals. It's purely for the deep drum beats.

I saw Phil sing this live in concert in maybe 1982 or 83 at Indiana University. Best concert I have ever seen and I have seen some epic bands in my life. Please Listen more to the music to get the Feel of the music. Most people want your reaction and how the song made you feel and not a play by play technical review. I already know Phil is the best drummer of all time and a damn good singer, your opinion of the technical aspects and constant chatter are a little off putting. Good luck with your channel

On Phil Collins walking D on stage, from personal experience, I’ve seen David Bowie live a few times, and in one tour, he kind of did the same thing. I’ve seen Phil Collins twice, both in the 80s. I’ve seen Bowie three or four times, twice in the 80s, once in the 90s, and’ One more time that I can’t recall the exact decade. He’s always given exceptional performances when live.

Phil is a Master Musician. As he is able to play the Drumkit so well, while remaining Pitch Perfect in his singing, well nobody of the 'Gen Z' Generation comes even close to his skills It appears to me that so-called 'Modern Music' is less skillful, less artistic and Yes, Less Good. Don't even get me going on the Cancer that Rap and all it's derivatives are, which are so simplistic in construction, not 'Music', before we even get to Abuse of Females and Rape Promotion

This song has been out since 1981. We know how it sounds, what all the sounds are, what they mean, etc... Honey, you talked ENTIRELY too much & stopped it way too much during the song. Sorry, I almost didn't finish watching it. You talked through the whole song & then barely gave your reaction & thoughts on the video once it was over.

I really wanted to enjoy this but couldn't. Too much talking, pausing and going back and fourth on Phil's performance. Just enjoy the music and no need to keep talking. I reckon I'd enjoy your videos if it wasn't like this. Plus he was singing, not screaming as someone else said.
