Australia and UK have extremely lenient prison sentences for horrific crimes. I find it despicable that the victim is blamed in any manner, at all! There’s only one person responsible and that’s the perpetrator.

Zara, would you consider covering the case of Marcus Norén? He was murdered in Halmstead, Sweden in the early 2000s. His head was found frozen in a river and initially the authorities tried to blame it on LARP and vampires. It's an insane story with no coverage. I don't think anyone outside of the country has even heard of it. I only ever found out about this case from a random Reddit comment.

I watch and listen to way too much true crime from a variety of sources for a number of years. I research and question and find concent creators that cover the cases nobody knows about. I have never heard anything about a case like that and it sounds so interesting! An unsolved case in Sweden of all places where they're trying to blame vampires or larping?!? How can somebody not cover it

@@laurashaw2328 yes me too, that's why i was so shocked by it! there are articles but all of them are in swedish. it happened in 2002 or 2003 so i guess maybe it just didn't make waves online? i feel like it would go viral if this happened today but yeah, an insane story that really needs to be shared

Hello, I’m from Sweden. The authorities never tried to blame it on vampires. People conspired about his murder, Marcus liked roleplay and especially vampires. He was killed by a 47 year old man, the man is in prison. In the apartment he was killed was a 29 year old man also. To the police he have said that he slept and the 47 year old came home later that night and to the police now the older man is saying that Marcus came running towards him and he got scared and defended himself. He said he grabbed something close and started hitting him. The dad begged the investigators to investigate in the younger man too. The older man admitted that he had murder and dismembered the body but later said it was in self-defense. But what is crazy is that the neighbors heard screams and thumps when Marcus and the younger man was alone in the apartment long before the older man got home. And the older man’s story in the first interrogation doesn’t add up with the autopsy and investigation in the apartment. First of all did Marcus get strangled too. The younger man got convicted too but only because he didn’t tell the police anything so they convinced for protection of a criminal. Please don’t go and spread misinformation, people don’t actually know what happened in the apartment and who actually killed Marcus. But the man who admitted to dismembering him is convicted. And don’t trust Reddit, if you wanna research about his case you should’ve copy the articles text and put on google translate. Because Reddit doesn’t need actually facts to write about a murder they can write what the fuck they want there. So next time think about that. Thanks

I was stalked by an ex boyfriend for 8 years , it was pure hell ,even though I was with someone else he wouldn't give up even when I had children with my bf he threatened to kidnap my babies !!! He finally gave up after he was arrested and given a restraining order to stay away from me and my kids ,he tried to unalive himself but just disfigured his face with a shotg$n!!! I think those who say that attacks on women are their own fault, because they didn't "protect" themselves, should be forced to send out self defence packs to 50-100 women so they can protect themselves. Because god forbid that men get blamed for attacking women. Self defence pack, should be everything the countries allow women to have on them. And since there are so so many people who blame the women, every woman and girl in the world would have a defence kit in no time

I worry about the normalisation (EVERYONE seems to do that!) & the availability of extreme porn! There are MANY young boys being exposed at a very young age. Are some who are vulnerable becoming desensitised to ‘regular porn’, being drawn to extremes & obsessing? There are some frightening results from studies of young adults & their sexual experiences.

I remember this so well when this happened. The whole country mourned together for her loss. She was a free spirit. I agree with you that the focus needs to change from "woman being careful and putting themselves in vulnerable situations" to "men do not stalk and attack woman at night or ever." It's a very slow change but I believe it can happen, slowly. x

I've heard of this case before from a different channel and it was heartbreaking to hear all of the details. She seemed like a beautiful woman inside out, and she was a rising star on her field. He deprived her of a bright future and it's horrifying to think the sheer terror she felt on the last few minutes of her short life. I hope she rests in peace and that her family finds the peace they rightfully deserve. It's hard to be a woman, and we still have people believing that if we get attacked, it's because we didn't take enough caution, not realizing that there are women getting attacked even in the comfort of their own homes. No one should ever worry about being assaulted while doing the things we enjoy like walking in the park or hiking, but here we are. If only people would keep their hands to themselves and leave others alone, this world will be a better place.

Losing a mother is sooo difficult. I lost my mother in a murder/suicide committed by her boyfriend of a decade. Missing her grows more and more everyday! It’s weird not having your safety net.

Snuff porn is real unfortunately. I read a book about a girl from Australia that was being sex trafficked and she had to witness this happening. The things being done to women and children all over the world is absolutely horrific. My heart breaks for those suffering and also so saddened to hear of this case. She was so young and had her whole life ahead of her.

Regardless of how you lose your mother it's a gut wrenching life altering tragedy. I went through an entire 10 year heroin addiction and nobody knew. Especially my kids. I was still the classic PTA mom who attended all my kids functions and read my kids a bedtime story after tucking them in each night. Just because a someone uses a substance doesn't mean they're neglectful or living in the streets strung out.

I just made a similar comment because when I lost my parents I started using and my doc was pills and I was a functional addict so I totally understand you Thankfully I got clean 3 years ago and I'll be 53 November 3rd and it took me forever but my life is so different now and I know it sounds cliche but its so true. I lost my sister and it sent me spiraling into addiction. Opioids were my drug of choice and no one had any idea. Not the doctors, not my family or my friends or my husband. No one ever had a clue and no one ever would have found out had I not said something. I was high functioning, five kids and worked from home and took care of everyone and everything. I think it's far more common than people realize. Congratulations on beating it❤ I'm proud of you and I hope you're proud of yourself

You see HER name EURYDICE (pronounced YUR RID A CEE ) is from Greek mythology the story of Orpheus, and Eurydice : quick version:Orpheus and her were married she died AND HE WENT TO THE UNDERWORLD to save her… He was known for his beautiful voice and even Swayed Hades to allow him to retrieve his wife with one condition! She could leave but if they were to turn around she would never be able to leave… Orpheus rescued her and just as they are about to reach the upper world they looked back and she was sucked into darkness! 😊

I know it’s not an important detail to the case but it absolutely astounds me as someone who lives in a state where weed is legal (for those of us who are 21+) but you must me 21 to buy tobacco and nicotine products, when I hear about how other people can buy liquor in their country at 18 or sometimes even younger, but weed is extremely illegal and could land you in prison. Both alcohol and pot are horrible for growing brains and shouldn’t be consumed until you’re 21 or even older, but I was a kid once who liked to get high and drunk so I understand young people will still do both. However, if I had to make a choice whether young adults could have access to alcohol or weed, my choice would ALWAYS be WEED. I have seen the most wild, out of pocket shit while drunk at house parties when I was a teen. But whenever I’d smoke pot, even with groups of other people, the craziest shit I ever saw was a dude who ate one of those gallon tubs of ice cream in one sitting.

Eurydice was a nymph and wife of Orpheus. She died and he went to the underworld to ask for her back. He played music to Hades to sweeten the deal and Hades agreed but under the condition that Orpheus had to walk ahead of Eurydice and could turn around to look at her before they reached the surface. But he did and she disappeared back into the underworld. I love Greek mythology 🩵

Her name is unique, pretty cool i reckon. I remember this tragic news. Exactly what i was doing. It really hit home because i lived in South Yarra off chapel street at the time. Chapel street well known for the night life aswel, bars, restaurants, clubs, 711's, coles etc open all hours aswel as the trams. Apart from the loud drunks, addicts (NOT ALL) are harmless. Ive walked where she was attacked many times without a thought because alot of people are out just like day time rush hour. Not far from parkville was another incident on Sydney Rd, in Coburg of another attack and murder of a young woman. Like i said it hit home, you realise time and forever isnt guaranteed, when you look back all those feelings you felt in your private life, what you went through, smells, certain noises all comes back like it was yesterday and the thought of moving on while victims and people you lose in general sadly stay in that moment forever.

It would be nice as woman to feel like you are safe walking home alone in the evening/night but it’s just simply not the case. And it’s never the victims fault that a deranged individual with an appendage brutally takes away their life for just simply trying to go home. And I of course am not placing any blame on the boyfriend but I did wish that he had walked her home and I’m sure he feels crushed by that thought as well. I hope her boyfriend and her family are doing okay and that the justice they received was sufficient- although it doesn’t bring her back. When I listen to cases sometimes- I just think about how unfortunate it is… just to be a woman, myself. That isn’t negating that a crime can’t happen to anyone else of a different demographic. And there’s also something to be said about women of minorities groups who are even more likely to meet a horrific end. It’s just sad to feel like- just existing as a woman significantly increases your chances of things like this happening to you.

I think the things with this piece of work is while he doesn’t HATE women, he seems just to not value human life. The people he is (was, I hope no one talks to him anymore) close to are different because they have a connection to him, they serve a purpose for him. He doesn’t hate women necessarily but he does seem to see any woman who isn’t important to him as an object. It seems like his issues may have developed with his addiction to porn. I think he doesn’t hate women simply because they’re women, I think he is just so turned on by violence that everything else becomes secondary. For most men who do things like this is starts as a hatred towards women and escalated into getting pleasure from violence against them. For this guy, I bet the pleasure from violence against women came without him having developed a hatred for them first. And that’s why his relationship with women seems so much more complicated than it does for other sexually motivated killers.

Of course women should be able to walk home alone safely but at the end of the day, there are bad people out there and the only thing you can do is try to minimise their access to you. Especially at times and places that give them the upper hand.

Your videos really inspire me Zara thank you so much for giving these poor helpless victims a voice by getting their stories told to bring more awareness i can’t imagine how horrified she must have felt being s**ually attacked and executed just walking home minding her business and being subjected to such a revolting brutal situation she was massively loved universally that it caused so much anger and protest rightly so he is a danger to society after this 😪🤍
