It's a great time to be a video enthusiast. The bang for the buck available today is something I honestly never thought we'd see in my lifetime. Growing up on NTSC broadcast over VHF and UHF antennas did not leave much room for inspiration.
I want Hisense if possible through an Update to completely Redo All their Menu look to be more modern and stylish and not basic bland looking also add nice Sound for the menu when opening and clicking things/scrolling (looks the same as my Basic 2018 Hisense tv) I just bought a U8G excited to pick it up
Digital trends was able to turn off the microphone in the tv, and showed you how, and talked about gaming something fomo didn't, because he knows it makes Samsung look bad. This tv is actually way better for gaming when compared to the Samsung tv.
WAY better review than the 1st. Props. I still don’t think Samsung QN90a is a good flagship, so comparing it, is a moot point. Hisense by far is knocking it out of the park. When a company has to work for their business, the result is better for the Consumer. Samsung is way overpriced and is a downgrade.
FOMO!! Ya say the QN90A is your favorite non oled TV this year. Considering this TV is almost half the cost, do you still think the Samsung is the best? Just curious as to your thoughts on this. Thanks for the setting tips as well!!!!
I hope you understand that IMAX and Filmmaker modes do NOT work unless they get proper "metadata" from the movie you are viewing. Meaning it has to be an IMAX enhanced movie and it must be able to send that "signal" to the TV. So using IMAX mode for a movie that doesn't use it. You're not going to get a proper picture. The same is with Filmmaker mode.
@@CaliFinestDemon it has been my best tv purchase to date. The TV is bright! The colors pop, has very very good black levels. Very few times that I have seen haloing. My friend recently bought a X90j and I think my U8G just looks way way better, I feel the brightness alone helps so much. I'm already going on 2 months with the TV and I 100% recommend it.
Same, best buy is also better to deal with than Hisense's factory warranty and support. I just purchase Best Buy support or whatever they call it with stuff like this or Laptops and such.
How does it do with upscaling SD content? I know that the LG OLED I had was terrible for upscaling older content. There was also a lot of visual noise and judder
Please let me know if the TV runs hot..some say it will heat up a room. Also, how is the motion on sports and upscaling on lower quality TV, movies etc..
Thanks FOMO. My question is about 3 Dimensional Image. For me, a flat image sucks regardless of detail n color. So for 2020 and 2021 who shows the picture you feel like if you move your head ya could "see more". Thanks for what you do.
Are we going to talk about how the QN90A’s black crush makes the orchestra unrecognizable at 6:53? Yes it’s black levels are better, by destroying highlights and reducing contrast
Just brought home a baby u8g. Salesman tried to push the Qn90a. Maybe the inventory isn’t moving 🤔. I think at darkest and at brightest the u8g is awesome. Medium lighting scenes not so good.
I know why you are comparing it to the QN90A but can we get a comparison to an OLED? CX/A8H since you don’t have the A80J or C1 yet would be great. I know the choice boils down to use case but I am curious as to how much specular highlights and color you give up versus the perfect blacks of an OLED and viewing angle. Have a P Quantum X 2019 and the blooming on it is messing with me. Watching in a mostly dark room as the wife won’t turn off all the lights.
What about your review about the difference in quality of this Bugget brand TV and that they usually crunch in too many feature without them putting them all together properly to accurately work correctly, right? has the brand changed fir the better?
"Deeper blacks" on the QN90A isn't a better option if it at times also crush detail.. When you say raised blacks. It's not always bad, it brings shadow detail. In a room with a tiny bit of light it's not even perceptible. But shadow detail is. I always prefer shadow detail and severely dislike black crush. So I can live with a little blooming that mostly happen outside actual content. Now I am more interested in Sony X95J. That is the one I am holding out for. If it's anything like 950H and just a bit better. It's a winner and my choice. I have the 950H for living room movie watching and mostly wife using it. When I am in my man-cave (lol) playing games or watching a movie she's not interested in, that is where the X95J will go. 950H is spectacular in HDR, brightness, accuracy and detail. Mind blowing seeing some demo reels and movies. We never watch in totally dark room, so blooming is basically non-existent.
Hi FOMO. I watch a lot of SD content and still have older gaming systems (PS4 and Xbox one). I currently have the Q90T. Would you exchange it for the Hisense U8G? This video is making me lean towards it a little bit because of the extra dimming zones... But no one has yet to publish the native contrast ratio of the U8G? How do artifacts compare to the H9G when the soap opera mode is on? Thanks!!!
Do you think the delay in releasing the Sony X95J is part of a hype marketing scheme ? Or there might be a last minute modification? I’m really excited to hear more about Sony X95J.
The fact that Fomo said, nonchalantly, to simply use the film or clear setting to solve stuttering/motion problem turns me away from this tv..watching a movie with clear motion setting would drive me nuts..clear would introduce the soap opera effect..although minimal..would still bother me. My neighbor has this TV and uses it to heat his living room in the winter..it runs that hot. That, along with poor motion handling is a no go imo.
What about for live sports? I'm noticing motion is having trouble keeping up with and I'm getting a stutter I really enjoy the tv so far any help would be appreciated really enjoy the videos. Thanks
i'm curious to see how far the H9F (K0817 latest Firmware) vs U8G in terms of color accuracy. Too bad i can't return my h9f anymore so i needed some closure to feel better😭.
I love your reviews. Please answer this----What is the choice for "enhanced viewing"? What is the choice for Alphonse video on the tv in Advanced System Settings? Should I pick "no I don't want enhanced viewing"? All TV data can be sent to this app. for enhanced viewing -- is this SAFE? Also -- this tv gets hot -- feel on top after running for an hour or two --- is this normal?
Samsung should have been calibrated in a different picture preset than it's most accurate out of box preset. This way you could show both TVs in most accurate out of box preset, which is only fair imo.
I’ve heard that the U7G 75” is IPS instead of VA panels. I was impressed with U7G performance in tests and want the larger size, but wondering if stepping up to 75” negates the great performance that we saw in the 65”.
I have been having microblocking and backlight flashing issues in dark scenes with my U8G ... Doesn't matter what the source is .. even happens with Dolby Vision. Can't seem to fix the issue, I even reset the tv and settings. Perhaps I have a bad tv?
I have the u6g, but the blooming in dark scenes does bother me. It only has 60 dimming zones, so I wish I would have spent a little more for the u8g. That said, there are times where the u6 blows me away. It's just the blooming.
Hey I had a answer for your Samsung Qn90a if you plug it in the 4 HDMI port you get better highlights in black levels when you watching TV our cable are your 4K player I had my plugged in number 3 port I do not use my apps on my TV I use them on the firestick and it makes the TV a lot brighter when it's plugged in port 4 HDMI check it out and let me know what you think it's a totally different TV
Is there any review against an H9G? A 50% markup for a yearly iteration makes the value prop here a really big question to me, and as someone who isn't a console gamer HDMI 2.1 doesn't have any value. If the H9G goes down in price it seems like it's even a tougher call.
Main reason mini led is not doing its job because they have thousands of led backlight but they were grouped to zones. The best way for mini led to really stands out is to make the single led backlight as an individual zones this way there will be per LED and backlight adjusting the light per LED not by zones
@@Zoranurai13 yup it takes a lot of processing even dual layer uses macro dimming zones then using a black and white LCD for filtering the lights before going to the LCD and QLED to make a million dimming zones. A good example is ipad pro they had 10,000 led but still end up with 2500 dimming zones so its still in group. The next challenge right now and may beat oled is to convert all those 10000 mini led to 10000 dimming zones then it will be race to brightness and we will see peak brightness of 4000 nits true HDR
@Plankton Correct! TCL won’t have an 85” under $2800. Vizio’s 85” PQX is about $3000. Hisense would not be at $2500 for the U8 at 85”. Maybe the U7 would be $2500 and the U6 would be the most likely to get 85” but you would complain about that too
Have you tried Netflix HDR on the qn90a using an external player? I heard the internal app is not great but that is what everyone is using for comparison. Would love your insight here. Thanks.
when i try to use Netflix on my tv and i go to watch a 4k film or something like Peaky Blinders which has Dolby Vision, it doesnt give me the options in picture settings. Only the usualy Standard,Vivid, etc. Why is that?
Just bought a hisense u8g and am noticing a small white spot in the bottom right corner in the black bar when watching movies. Is this normal, or is there possibly something wrong with thus tv?
What type of hdmi cords would you use? I'm running a vizio 5.1.2 M series soundbar connected to my new U8G and notice some stuttering and drops in audio. I'm thinking it has to do with the hdmi enhancement option and my cords not being able to handle the speeds. Any suggestions on which cords to buy that can keep up with the dolby atmos and vision speeds?
Eric, I have the Vizio Elevate, and 2.1 cords. My experience using this soundbar which sounds awesome, the HDMI 3 (eARC/ARC) message I get on the TV when I select HDMI 3 input says "Weak or no signal. So not sure if I am getting all the signal..., but as mentioned the soundbar FKn sounds awesome? Any thoughts?
