You've probably heard about a number of food intolerances, from gluten and dairy to fructose and FODMAPs.
But... There is a lesser known intolerance that is the topic of tonight's show - histamine intolerance.
It is estimated that 1% of the population has histamine intolerance, roughly 80% of those people are middle-aged, and when histamine levels rise too high, they can trigger numerous symptoms and health issues.
On this episode of Pick Dr. Osborne's Brain, we'll dive into histamines, seasonal allergies, and what you can do to best support your health.
00:45 The symptoms of histamine intolerance
03:50 Histamines - What it is exactly
08:30 What causes histamine intolerance?
14:05 Nutritional deficiencies & Mast cells
18:35 This can activate or increase histamines
24:30 Histamine rich foods & DAO inhibitors
29:30 Eat these if you have a histamine problem
30:45 What you can do to resolve high hist issues

Thank you so much, Dr.O!! I've been waiting for this one for a long time!! Couldn't get my doctor or allergist to do any proper testing. I KNEW my issues likely stemmed from mold/mycotoxins and chemical assaults...PFAS from a 6.5 hour tubing trip on the Au Sable River in July of last year. Epsinophils are 4x normal. Have been suffering terribly since then, lost lots of weight I didn't have to lose, and am still very weak, still feel like my legs are burned (I've never burned in 62 years). I could write a book here... I've known that MCAS was likely part of what's been going on. Thank you for sharing ways to mitigate the symptoms without the drugs they told me to take. God bless you for doing what you do!

Excellent video! I can relate to not being able to take probiotics. My body responds very very negatively to it. Fermented foods as well…. Thank you so much for your insight and help in healing 🤗💫🧚🏻🪄

could the symptoms of a seasonal allergy or histamine issue mainly be a deep cough alone? without runny nose, congestion or itching eyes. always through the fall, in teenage boy. with various bacterial infections some years, trying to avoid illness this year in my now 16 year old son. love your videos, gratitude.

my name is Chenelle, I'm visually impaired 46 years old African-American. As of 27 July, I started exhibiting break out into hives and inflammation due to having too much histamine in my system. The way I found out about this was that I had made a garlic pasta dish and I started breaking out into hives. I threw all the items in the garlic roll and powder out I had to do 12 days of prednisone, but what broke my hives was a oatmeal bath with oatmeal, apple cider vinegar, baking soda, water combination along with one tube of extra strength Benadryl. I haven't broken out and Hymms as of lately I've gotten rid of all the high histamine foods that I cannot eat anymore. This is a first for me. I am vegan I don't eat dairy fish or meat haven't for almost 2 years now I also became allergic to my dogs saliva I do have indoor and outdoor allergies according to allergy to cats saliva, I didn't know if there was any natural ways that I could improve my history level where I don't have to worry about having reactions to everything I eat, etc mostly I get burning sensations, that feels like inflammation. I'm allergic to dust, mites, mold, trees, pollen, and weeds and now I'm allergic to my guys all saliva so I didn't know what I can do to counteract all of these issues that I'm having? Thank you.😅😊p😊

Please check your gut health , I'm having leaky gut , it's the main culprit for histamine intolerance, leaky gut gave all allergies for me like dust, pollen, mites, food intolerance for garlic tomato, mushroom, lemon and apart from this as a women I got migranes and mensural problems. Leaky gut may be caused due to worms and parasites in gut, please clear that also. Deworming course reduced half the problems of mine Now I'm taking integrated medicine, my doctor diagnosed my leaky gut problem, he gave a deworming course for a week, and now I'm undergoing probiotic prebiotic amino acid supplements along with histamine food restrictions Now feeling better without allergies

@@bhuvaneshwarirajendiran5157 I took an allergy test a month ago and I wasn't allergic to any citrus fruits or garlic. Let alone my guy dog. However, after taking my allergy medication twice a day instead of once a day. I was able to not itch or have any allergy symptoms due to the indoor outdoor allergies that I have and then I was diagnosed with back in 2020. I was diagnosed with active asthma in February however, I haven't had a wheezing episode in a few months. I eat a total vegan diet, no meat, fish or dairy. I've been eating vegan come to years January 1, 2024. Even when I had the American standard diet I still had the allergy issue but not the gut micro issue, my allergist solution to my problem was for me not to eat the foods that were causing me inflammation which I stopped doing prior to me seeing him for the first time back on September 19, 2023. I am able to eat bananas again I don't eat a lot of soy I might have tofu once a week mostly, it's beans, rice, potatoes, nuts, seeds, etc I don't eat couscous I do eat old-fashioned oats however, when I went to the doctor recently, the only thing I needed to do was increase my potassium level because it was a little low so I walked up on the broccoli and the leafy green vegetables and I'm fine now. I do take my vitamin B 12 every day plus, I'm multivitamin and I get the rest of my omega-3 with Chia seeds, hemp, flaxseed, etc by the way, I can't have cashews, either, kale powder, chickpea, flour, or I will go into an asthma attack on Contact. Dates so I got rid of all of it. I do have my coffee once a day, and I do have my tea which consist of green tea, mango tea, mint tea, chamomile, tea, ginger, tea, peach tea. I cannot have chai tea because I cannot have black tea because of it being high inflammatory. I no longer do tomatoes I can do avocado oil and extra-virgin olive oil. Those are the ones that I use the most. I also live in an older building that's about 50 years old so I might go back to my doctor and see if I can get tested for gluten and get tested for worms and toxins along with bio issues. Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it.

@@cloeye32I highly recommend you reconsider your vegan diet. Extreme diets on either end of the spectrum - from vegan to carnivore - are extremely useful as a short-term tool to remedy an acute health problem, but these diets are not good for you to stay on them long-term. While plants can be medicinal, so can meats, and from all your symptoms, it sounds like you will benefit greatly by incorporating meats back into your diet. You may want to investigate your oxalate intake and start slowly reducing that. Anyways, my point is to not get stuck in the dogma of one single diet and just because you felt good initially on vegan doesn't mean you need to stay vegan forever. Also, more animals are killed (if that's why your vegan) due to vegan farming practices than proper regenerative farming - research it. Hope this gives you a good starting point and helps you on your path to healing! God bless!
