I grew up in a poor household and the ads made me a little bit sad that I didn't have any access to a computer or the internet, because they taught me that movies could be downloaded and not being able to do that was a bit of a bummer.

These ads had pretty much the same effect on us Americans.

Even better that the fires had nothing to do with skin care creams - it was the synthetic fibers used to make just about everything at the time, rayon/nylon or even nitrocellulose(!!!), but without the addition of flame retardant chemicals.

My dad's favourite dad joke when I was a kid was every time he heard that deep voice say "you wouldn't steal a car" he would respond "bit presumptuous of you". I was so happy when that add dropped the voiceover and we were all freed.

@@maaingan um. I think you're misinformed. It never said "download a car" it always said "steal" The only change they made was they dropped the creepy voiceover. It even clarifies the origin of the nickname "download a car PSA" in this video.

yea that is exactly the problem people had&have with those. if they wouldnt have said anything it would have been better. They only made kids aware of drugs in the first place without really saying why it is bad. just vaguely stating they are bad.

There’s one I remember. All voiced over by children saying what they want to be when they grow up. It shows someone sex working, someone stealing wallets, someone hitting their mum and more I can’t remember.

This of course led it to turn into a thin glue film between layers and I smashed my side into a giant metal sink. This was after repeatedly telling her the cardboard was worse than the water. I then came up with an alternative to deal with the leak with two strategically placed dog bowls.

And have to go to a pain management clinic every month with periodic drug screens, being treated like a junkie if anyone finds out you take them, having to lock them up like they are guns to make sure no one robs you.. ect.. You didn't ask for the pain, you didn't ask for a life that is 90% struggle.

Have pharmacists refuse to fill your prescription because they obviously know more about your pain and appropriate treatment than your pain management doc or find out while traveling that the state you are in won’t fill Rx from out of state docs even when they transmit them electronically so you have to get them filled at home, picked up by a friend and then overnighted to you even when you have decades of consistent prescriptions for the med (Norco/Hydrocodone in my case).

All opiates make me throw up. Best I can do for my pain is Excedrin and Gabapentin.

Which was pleasant with two giant holes in my lower jaw. And of course I call the doctor and ask for an alternative, offer to bring the unused to show them, etc, they wouldn't do anything. If my experience needing them once sucked that much, I can't imagine how chronic pain sufferers and legitimate folks that need em, go through...

Also stopped screaming and tearing his vocal cords so we can enjoy his work for a long foreseeable future. Maybe sitting calms him down a bit and he’s balancing the two..

@@RadeticDaniel Consumer products like Coke have a much larger profit margin compared to weed my friend. Consumer products especially when it comes to food stuff have a profit margin of at least 3 times the value it cost to produce and get to consumers, this is not the case when it comes to selling drugs like weed. People tend to think weed dealers are rolling in money because it's easy money and tax free, but reality is most pot dealers are just dealing pot so they can smoke for free. Unless you are running a major domestic operation you don't make a whole lot of money dealing pot, this is actually when legalising it in Canada has almost entirely killed the black market for pot, black market dealers can't compete with government run industry/distribution and their prices. For comparison prior to the legalisation paying $7 a gram was a deal and paying $10 a gram was average through the black market, government industry however can produce at a rate where they can sell to consumers at a rate of $3 a gram to $5 a gram as the average. If you where to look at the logic of the PSA I mentioned not only would you have to include the general labour to the dealers, but also international shipping, international banking or transfering of funds, create a security network to make sure the dealers pay the suppliers of the product, and you'd have to bribe officials all along the way to places like the USA and Canada (where this PSA aired) from places like Afghanistan and Iraq... it would not be a viable source of income. Especially since grow ops in the USA and Canada where already well established and generally operated as grey market industries by the year 2000 which where no longer considered Federal or Major Crimes, usually resulting in the people running these operations only typically getting fines or low level criminal charges until the same operation was raided and restarted several times by the same people. Now if we were talking about Cocaine or something like that; that would be a whole different story altogether... but these PSAs were specifically to scare kids from buying pot because 100% of all pot dealers were funding the terrorists in the Middle East according to the PSA. And they even doubled down on it later suggesting that the dealers saying they do not fund terrorists are either unaware of who they buy products from, or are just lying to the good little patriots tricked into smoking weed. It became doubly hilarious to us as pot smokers when it was revealed that smoking pot could help prevent inhalation of the bacteria that caused Anthrax infections if the person had recently smoked weed. Did my buying weed on the black market back in the day help support CRIME? Sure though I rarely dealt with gang dealers and usually just dealt with blue collar friends that grew their own and sold to people they knew. Lots of local and regional gangs used the sale of drugs including weed to fund their gang's activities. Did it fund international terrorist groups in their attempts to attack powerful governments in far away nations? Hell no, the ones who were funding terrorists groups are way more high profile then any drug dealer. Like oil barons, enemy state government operatives, and private corporations with militant aspirations of control over markets.

If an American bought weed in the early 2000's it was probably Canadian Weed.
