Just made and used 2 tablespoons olive oil and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil to kick up the flavor. instead of 3 olive oil). I could not stop eating and not even a hummus fan. Thank you so much for sharing with us!!!
Hey Mickey---been so busy have not had a chance to come by here. Oh, but look at you making something I could eat the whole container at once. You fix the neatest things. I definitely will put this together since it is so fast. Love ya gal. Jesus bless.
Yum! I love homemade hummus. It's so much more flavorful than that store bought. I also love to put roasted red pepper in mine, and dip slices of jicama! Thanks for sharing your recipe.
@@OuttheBackDoor Hello Mickey! I hope that you are enjoying your summer so far! Quick question regarding canning. I made strawberry jam earlier in the year, and I just opened a 1/2 pint jar that had a tattler lid. It was sealed tight, yet the contents had a white mold spot on top, and smelled sour. I threw it out, of course, and opened another jar from the same batch. That jar was fine. Have you ever had a jar seal tight, but inside the contents spoiled? I thought it was so weird, but I haven't been canning for all that long a time? Any thoughts of where I went wrong?
@@tdoonie8244 Hi T. The only thing I can think of is a false seal. But if you had to work at getting the lid off, a false seal would be questionable. I honestly can't say exactly what happened. I've had a few jars fail while sitting in the pantry (out of 1K that's not bad) and then I inspect the lid, gasket, and jar rim to see if there was any food particle that allowed the seal to fail. That happens more of I've had siphoning. That's all I can think of. 🤷♀️
@@OuttheBackDoor Hi Mickey. Thanks for replying to me. Yes, that is probably the case, although it was sealed up tight. Makes me re-think about using the "reusable" lids anymore for canning. I think I'll use them for storage instead. I would have hated to give that jam for a gift to someone. 😳
Thank you for your video. I'd eat that. I buy the dried chickpeas too. Did you know there's a product called dried Yellow Split Chickpeas? It's in the International section of our big box store. There's not a regular Yellow Split Pea to be found in the stores these days so I'm buying the Yellow Split Chickpeas instead. The stores ran out of Yellow Split Peas last year too. When they did show up again, I stocked up good, and now they are gone again. It pays to stock up, ... but you know that. Keep up the great work and good luck.
Hi Daval. We can find yellow split peas in our area at the regular grocery store. Have you ever looked at Azure Standard for the split peas. I don't know if it's available in your area. I like ordering organic bulk through them. Just a thought to find some hard to find items. 😊
I am not a real fan of hummus, but your recipe looks delicious. My question is, how did you preserve your garlic? I’d like that your garlic was still whole cloves. Thanks for sharing this, Mickey! 👩🍳
Hi Debi. Hubby doesn't care for hummus either so I get to eat it all! 🤭 Lately with the hot weather, this is great as a dip for veggies. It becomes my lunch when I take a quick break while working outside. You're the second person asking about canned garlic. I think I might need to do a video on it. I pickle it and WB can it. PC the plain garlic. And also preserve garlic in honey, but that gets real soft after time. 😊
@@OuttheBackDoor thanks so much for the reply, Mickey! I would love to know how to preserve plain garlic cloves. I will be harvesting my garlic this week. It has a tendency to get old before I can use it all and would love to know how to preserve it. I will be one of those waiting patiently for your next video!! 👩🍳
Hi LittlePrepper. I need to make another batch of hummus already! 🤭 I pickled and WB canned some of the garlic and PC canned the plain. Maybe I should do a video on that. 🤔😊
