I have a problem like this on my 2002 2.3 Accord, my tank doesn't seem to breathe because when I have 1/4 gas my car loses power and smells like gas from the tank cap
This make sense... I too have smelled gas in my 2001 honda civic lx and my son left his jacket in the back seat floor and it had a gas smell. I've left jackets in my trunk also and same thing. But now I know where to check. Thanks!
Had to Google "gasoline odor honda civic" because I started smelling fuel about a week ago and thought I was tripping until it persisted the entire week then figured it has to be the tank or pump because it's strongest under my back seat. This seems like the most likely culprit. I don't have any hand tools anymore or time to do it myself otherwise I'd replace the pump myself but at least this gives me an idea where to tell the mechanic to look.
How do you say problem, but I got a the check engine code P1457, And I smell the gas so heavy when pick up something from my backseat today so I wonder if this can take care of it?
Thank you so much for this video! I was smelling gas and took my car to Honda. They said they couldn’t find anything and checked the diagnostics and fuel pump. So they said it was only the gas cap. They replaced it. I still smelled it. So I saw this video and checked the fuel pump myself. It was a mess. Everything was black. Went back and they were so surprised. Paid $188 to check it and I had to find it. They didn’t even me a little refund.
Now you pay me that $188 😆🤣😂. Sometimes we mechanic not know everything but some lazy mechanic just want a big fat paycheck. I'm glad you found this video. I'm friendly hope you click on that subscribe button as it saying thank you. 😊
Many thanks for your video and detail instructions. My Civic 2003 has a smell of gas inside the car everytime i had a full tank refueling. what would you advise sir?
Does this give you the check engine light on with code p1457? Cause I have that and I changed the canister and both valves... but still have the light on
What do you know? popped mine open and guess what... a shit ton of gas surronding the fuel pump. It was soo strong that I hd to get out of my car.... i don't know how I did not smell it early on. thanks tho. Might go to the junkyard tmr to pick up a new one. Btw are you Hmong?
@@chengxiong9661 I recommend buy new part not getting old one from the junk yard because mostly junk yard part it almost the same as your already. Look on ebay and Amazon they might have new one for good price.
@@alltsab oh okay. thanks bro. If i do buy new one i think i will go oem or at least denso. a trusted brand. but am i right for replacing just those two? or does anything else need to be replaced? I see a puddle of gas around my fuel pump when I opened it.
Fuel pump sender unit. What I replace is not available to sell separate if you buy from auto parts or dealer. I went to the junkyard i separate the unit and pay for the cover lid by itself only.
