I’ll confirm what she said based on my experience as a type 1 diabetic ! All sugars including honey and fruits like banana, apple and oranges cause sugar spikes for me ! As for sweeteners! I tried many and I settled on stevia because it really doesn’t cause high blood sugar at all ! P.S Be careful when you buy stevia ! Sometimes they write STEVIA in big letters thinking that it’s 100% stevia but it’s not ( you can see like 2% stevia, the rest is something else !) They add other sweeteners ! So, always check for the ingredients ! It should contain at least 95% of stevia ! Good luck !

I reversed my severe insulin resistance removing all refined sugar and eating fruit instead. Raw honey is amazing too. I cringe when I hear sugar is sugar. So untrue. “The researchers conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of clinical trials on honey, and found that it lowered fasting blood glucose, total and LDL or ‘bad’ cholesterol, triglycerides, and a marker of fatty liver disease; it also increased HDL or ‘good’ cholesterol, and some markers of inflammation. Personally, I haven't had a soft drink with or without sugar in decades. I also don't do "energy" drinks or fruit juice at all. Thanks for the information you're sharing. A lot of it validates my ideas of what to consume.

Xylitol is added to gum in many products. I have read studies that claim that xylitol prevents one of the bad bacteria in a persons mouth from attaching to the surface of the tooth and causing tooth decay. The xylitol has a long term effect on dental health causing other beneficial bacteria to populate the mouth and diminished the ability of the bad bacteria from multiplying in the mouth, preventing tooth decay. I try to stay away from all artificial sweeteners in food and only chew gun with this sweetener because it helps fight tooth decay.

This is the worst part about this lady's advice; she actually convinces people that eating carbs is fine so long as your blood sugar spikes are reduced. This is like a telling an alc■holic that drinking alc■hol is fine so long as they are able to moderate. She doesn't tell you that eating carbs causes ups and downs in your mood. She doesn't tell you that eating carbs causes people to want to eat more often. She doesn't tell you that eating carbs causes inflammation even if the blood sugar spike isn't as big as it would be without her "hacks". She doesn't tell you that eating fiber not only blocks sugar from being absorbed by the intestines but that it also blocks iron, zinc, manganese, magnesium, calcium and other minerals. She doesn't tell you that dietary carbs are add!ctive. It's not just about blood sugar spikes. Dietary carbs and fiber cause all sorts of problems for humans. We simply don't have the hardware to handle regular intake of carbs and fiber. You are coming away from this video happy to continue eating carbs and fiber. But it's the carbs and fiber that are contributing to your skin issues. It's the carbs and fiber that are making you tired after lunch. It's the carbs and fiber that are giving you unnecessarily painful periods. It's the carbs and fiber that are causing your joint pain. It's the carbs and fiber that contribute to osteoporosis. It's so frustrating. Cut the carbs and fiber. Keep your total carbs below 20g/day. You will go through a one or two week sugar detox period (literally chemical withdrawals from sugar similar to what alc■holics experience). Then you will start feeling better than you have in years. Yeah, her advice is better than nothing,. I'm not saying it's worthless or whatever. But her advice is like adding water to a bucket with a hole in it. It kinda' works, but it isn't an actual solution.

@@Hertz2laugh good reply! I know that carbs are not good for your health but you need some…..in my personal experience what happens is that when I have carbs I only eat a little bit because I already eat more protein and veggies and I don’t eat much but when I feel like having some sour dough bread l enjoy it 😉
@Hertz2laugh
@Hertz2laugh 24 дня назад
@@gladismendez6596 This is what is so cool about the human body. Humans have the ability to make exactly the amount of carbs they need right at the exact time the carbs are needed. This process is called "gluconeogenesis" - the body disassembles protein molecules and builds carbohydrate molecules out of them. The fact that humans make carbs out of protein means that a human never needs to eat a single bite of carbohydrates in their lives (aside from when you are growing like crazy as an infant). As long as a human is eating enough protein, their body will automatically make the perfect amount of carbs to stay healthy and energized.

When it comes to raw sugar, there are a few popular types that are commonly available and appreciated for their unique flavors and characteristics. Here are some of the best raw sugar types: Demerara Sugar: This sugar has large grains and a light brown color. It has a slight molasses flavor and is often used to sweeten coffee and tea or as a topping for baked goods. Turbinado Sugar: Turbinado sugar is another type of raw cane sugar. It has a light golden color and a mild molasses flavor. It's commonly used as a sweetener in beverages and for sprinkling on top of baked goods. Muscovado Sugar: Muscovado sugar has a very dark brown color and a strong molasses flavor. It retains more of the natural molasses content than other types of raw sugar, giving it a rich and complex taste. It's often used in baking and for making rich sauces and marinades. Panela Sugar: Panela is an unrefined whole cane sugar commonly used in Latin America. It has a caramel-like flavor and is often sold in solid blocks or cones. It can be used in cooking and baking or dissolved in hot drinks. Jaggery: Jaggery is a traditional non-centrifugal cane sugar consumed in Asia and Africa. It is dark brown in color and has a rich, caramel-like flavor with hints of molasses. Jaggery is commonly used in cooking, especially in Indian cuisine, and is also enjoyed as a sweet treat on its own. These raw sugar types are prized for their distinct flavors, natural sweetness, and minimal processing, making them popular choices for those looking for alternatives to refined white sugar.

When I first saw you, I thought you were French (that's a compliment) because your facial style, your personality, and the way you speak English has a little bit of a French accent, and I don't know if it's the short haircut that reminds me of that more than anything else. You look really good, like a model, not a biochemist, and I think that's why people are paying more attention to your channel, because it's not the boring, stuffy biochemist's sleepy explanations. I've been watching your channel a lot lately, and it's really helpful in a lot of ways. However, the food that they eat, I think it's one of those things that's so strongly cultural and I think it's one of those things that can't be easily fixed because it's so deeply ingrained, especially from your mum and your parents when you're younger. Of course, that's why your video is so important and meaningful to people who want to make a change and feel like there's a problem. I look forward to seeing more of your helpful videos in the future. I'm cheering you on from the bottom of my heart from Korea.

Honey is less harmful to teeth. Same sugar, but while sugar feeds bacteria and foods with sugar spoil, honey is anti bacterial, never spoils, and is even used in dentistry in some countries. It isn't better for blood sugar, but there is at least that one difference.

Facts? Ummm no lol. “The researchers conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of clinical trials on honey, and found that it lowered fasting blood glucose, total and LDL or ‘bad’ cholesterol, triglycerides, and a marker of fatty liver disease; it also increased HDL or ‘good’ cholesterol, and some markers of inflammation.” Nov 16, 2022 Sweet: Honey Reduces Cardiometabolic Risks, U of T Study Shows

Great video as always Jessie!! Can you talk in one of your videos about the gut and the GI-Map tests in the USA? Do you think is a good idea to have them done? According to latest research gut health is related to everything and what we eat is so important and relates to so many diseases... Thank you!!

Can you do an episode on the difference between smoothies vs. Juices? I was always under the impression that a smoothie as opposed to a juice, keeps the fiber content within. But you referred to it in the same category as juice. Thank you as always for the amazing content!

Three things I love Jess for,- 1)She’s beautiful.💚 2)She calls me Angel.🤭 3)She calls me Dear.🤭 (My mum never called me either of those).😆 BTW, a Stevia (I buy) manufacturer has recently started adding Inulin powder to their Stevia. Inulin is a fibre which slows down absorption of the Stevia. I prefer the taste of Stevia to sugar. Stevia just tastes of sweetness, which is why you only a very, very small amount. With sugar I get a stale after taste, which I don’t like. Jess, you’re an Angel.😉

I am a 67 year old power lifter and fitness trainer I don't have diabetes and I don't eat refine sugar and trans fat. I eat natural sugar from fruits, stevia dates and nature honey I exercise 4 times a week, I lift weights and I also train cardio, and I'm rowing for 1 hour I use that sugar as energy. People eat too much sugar and trans fat process food and junk food. I live in the Netherlands children eat too much sugar and trans fat every day and many children are fat. There are children who already have diabetes from 15 years old. For my age I'm totally healthy and strong.

Not sure? You said Xylitol is bad? Are you aware that there is two types of Xylitol? The one made from Corn and the one made from Birch, I have been using this for several years now as it was recommended to me from Dr Eric Berg

Omg I want to be your new Olivia. I’m from Argentina, I have insulin resistance diagnosed at 8 years old and since then I use myself as a lab rat to see how my diet, exercise and emotions are related, specifically since I went through depression and now I have anxiety which also affects my gut (I was treated with SIBO) I feel like I’m the perfect scenario for a scientist to study. I study myself too
