Subbed. 43 years as a builder here and it's refreshing to observe someone of your obvious caliber, expertise and integrity. Dude, you know your shit. It's about time someone holds these "flippers/peddlers" accountable for the crap they stick naive buyers with. This is one of the worst I've seen and I've seen a lot. Short term non owner occupant sellers should be a red flag for everyone and, furthermore, there should be bonding requirements in place for these peddlers of unsound and unpermitted improvements. If the buyers purchased using a real estate broker, perhaps they should consider suing them. I'm not an attorney but I think that just might be implied liability hopefully covered by the brokers' errors and omissions insurance. Keep up the good work and never stop learning.....but you've got that covered it seems.
@pogtuber5146
@pogtuber5146 Год назад
If the real estate agents were held liable for this kind of shit, there would be a lot less problems. However, they're very well protected by the system they've set up. They'll just use very "agreeable" inspectors.

I'm not sure about California but in Michigan it's code to not have any rerod sticking out or sticking into dirt that's tagged into concrete. Reason being, is the rerod rusts and creates a rust trail to all the rerod in the concrete.

These are the things I'm thankful for the consumer protection we have in Finland with houses. Even 10 years down the line if "invisible fault" is found, the seller (and the builder) are reaponsible for it. That type of work would've resulted in a situation where buyer gets their money (plus compensation etc) back, and the seller gets their lemon (plus the expenses from the court, usually from both sides). I feel sorry for those owners who'vw bought a home they liked and now need to fix someone elses mess.

this is all around the world - hard to find "old school" builders, who not just look for a "quick buck", but actually know what the hell they are doing, doing it right and taking pride in it. the guys in those videos look not only like they know very well what they are doing, they build stuff properly so that it will outlast the customer - this is the old school way, where craftsman actually cared about the quality of their work.

Glad I watched part 2. I was interested in understanding your plans for the pour in place retaining wall footing. Now I understand better. Totally agree on cleaning up equipment. I've done alt of small jobs with a wheelbarrow. It really annoys me when workers leave concrete on tools. Wheelbarrows are hell when the last guy neglects rinsing off concrete and stucco. I have even painted my wheelbarrow with cold galvanize spray to stop rust between jobs. Concrete slides out nicely. When clean out is neglected it makes work harder. Same goes for metal screeds and finishing tools. BTW, you can clean up a finishing trowel or other tools with pool acid. Then sand working surface with 100 grit sandpaper to restore surface .

My family lost the family home and it was bought by a flipper. He came to the door to tell us he had just bought the house and was willing to give us money upfront to move out now. We could not even rent a Uhaul for that money so we said no. The irony is the house was cracked right down the middle. The company that built the house never bothered to pull the rebar up into the foundation plus the house was cut into a hill so it was half fill of dirt and a bad foundation the crack was right along the fill line from the street to the back of the yard. He got stuck with the house and now rents it out because it is unsellable LOL

Nice Dixxon!! I believe thats the tradesman flannel. Released November 2017. He was way small back then here in Tempe. Dixxon was 6 people. There was only 500 of those made, and never remade. If that is the Tradesman, you have been a fan for many years. I have over 100 Dixxons hanging and atleast half, that still new in bags. If it is not the tradesman, it is still old because it has square pockets, no pleat in the back, and maybe even a yellow tag on the back. Anyway, sorry to run on about a flannel. My biggest recommendation for you is to swap to Pintle hooks for your trailer. We do similar work on virgin soil and typically need a lot of play/movement in the trailer to traverse rough off road conditions. I feel like a similar setup on any bumper pull trailers you have in such hill conditions would give you a significant advantage. They also hold more weight and faster/easier to connect and disconnect from.
