Ridley Scott's 2021 film adaptation of "The House of Gucci" by Sara Gay Forden could have been a brilliant re-telling of Maurizio Gucci & Patrizia Reggiani's love, strife, and relationship. But unfortunately, the movie feels it was pulled in far too many directions, with each actor taking their own creative licenses that drain it of any coherence. A star-studded cast included Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Al Pacino, Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, & Salma Hayek all of whom could not save the film, and who in part caused the film's overall downfall due to the need to cater to each major figure. Ridley Scott didn't seem to have the finesse to pull off the nuance this story required, and that is seen through the dialogue, plot, and ad-libs that plague the film that turns it into a shallow, name-dropping, campy but un-campy snooze fest. The notion of fashion stories being told is wonderful and has been done well before, but here the film really doesn't know what it wants to be, and shouldn't have been made, at least not till someone could have masterfully created it.
