This is a movie that gave its best in theatres. I’m still honestly weirded out by the atmosphere you could breathe in there. Complete silence almost the whole time, to the point where I had to move super-slow in order to grab my popcorn and felt like even chewing them was too much noise. It was surreal.

thats why i didn’t go to the theatre’s to watch it. I would get really annoyed by the littlest sound someone would make. Like chewing and wrappers. Ugh i hate it

@@ashlyn_28 i actually really enjoyed that tension, because literally you could hear a feather dropping. Thinking back, I shouldn’t have bought popcorn, but other than that... the fact that literally EVERYONE was silent and quiet and gripped by tension is one of the things that made my moviegoing experience so great that time. We were all just completely silent the whole time, but we also all knew we were there being completely immersed in the story. I mean, direction and sound and the script being so great are the main reason, but still. I wish I could have that experience again.

I just watched the movie a couple of days ago! Nice to see an explanation about the tension, shots and music used to clear up the situation, anxiety and relation between the characters! 🙂 I hope the second movie will have more of the same 👍

Confirmed its been two years and I still can't watch Krasinski scream without tearing up and feeling my hands instinctively want to reach up and cup my mouth... I always took the missing posters board not as a current indication of danger but a single image story of the earliest days of the invasion - all the posters are weathered and aged, they appear to have been made using computers, copiers, etc, and the other images, telling the current story of a deserted town filled with fear and silence, suggest there's nobody left to make posters, assuming they'd even bother as cause of death in the current timeframe seems fairly predictable. I pictured the first signs of things to come: e.g. maybe smaller advance teams of aliens landing in isolated spots to begin, and the missing posters start appearing... slowly at first, with people who wandered too close disappearing without a trace, and then more and more as those that went searching for them also disappeared, and the aliens grew larger in number, stretching out to populated areas, and growing more aggressive as no real challenge presented itself... and then the posters stopped because there was no longer any hope left for the disappeared.

I adored this movie and have seen it many times. I still wonder why the little guy in the opening sequences was allowed to run around so free when children are born noisemakers at that age. Even when they left the store, he was tagging along at the end. Any parent in this scenario would have had him between the Mom and Dad so they could keep him in plain site. That said, the movie was great. Emily blunt giving a "quiet" birth was so convincing! I was so impressed with John Krazinski as the excellent father we would have loved to call our own.

Sara Buchinger it’s not loudness, it’s a certain frequency emitted from the deaf daughters broken cochlear implant. It messed up some sort of electro magnetic field with the aliens, the only reason in the movie it’s displayed as a loud screech is because the frequency is normally silent and it added affect for the audience to understand the monsters weakness.

i genuinely dislike horror movies, games, books even. yet everyone thinks i love them. once someone brought me 10 horror movie CDs and i was scared!!!! more than the actual fear, im more disturbed that i might remember it later when im working(very good memory) and that suddenly scare me. the seer fear of remembering and scaring myself scares me. and it HAS happened several time before. and now.......this video peaked my interest to watch the movie. can you tell me if its too scary?will it be something as mortifying as that?

I haven’t seen this movie so my question may seem dumb. If the little boy already knows how to do sign language, then how does he not know that any noise could get them killed and just played with the toy? So, I’m wondering if he just didn’t know it made noise or was he in hibernation till that day and didn’t know about the dangers? I don’t know. Anyway, it’s like how am I able to write this long paragraph in a youtube comment section but couldn’t just google the name of the movie and do a search on my own? Well...maybe the answer could be that most of us humans (not all) have a lot of free time currently or it could be that I’m just high. And by high i mean I’m in a sleep deprived delirium.
